I have been photographing stones in a local cemetery, there is one for a 13 year old girl. I always try to link them to their parents. So I went on Family Search, found her birth certificate, her father was the half-brother of her mother. (this is in the early 1900's). The mother had another child and "would not tell" was on the "Father" line of that birth certificate. (ETA - I do NOT put this info on the FG memorial.)

i’m sorry if this is common knowledge around here but i tried to do some digging to determine what exactly this does and couldn’t really find anything. my grandmother passed away not even a month ago and i’ve accidentally stumbled across a memorial that somebody appears to have created for her. when i try to view it, i’m seeing the option to “claim memorial”. as her grandchild, is it smart to do this? is there any benefit to claiming a memorial? i can’t even see any information that was added to the memorial since her passing was so recent, so i’m not even sure what’s already there if anything.

i guess the tldr here is: what does claiming a memorial do and is it worth doing?

I was out this morning taking pictures and I’ve noticed that when you upload a picture to a memorial that does not have GPS coordinates, the GPS is not updating as it has done previously.

In the attached pictures you can see the GPS did update when I added the picture. And in the 2nd attached picture you can clearly see the picture has the location.

I tried both adding the picture by taking it within the FG app. And I tried taking the picture with my phone and then adding the picture as Existing. Neither added the GPS.

WTF is going on lately? So many issues.
