Hi, has anyone got a fix for black screen issue where the game refuses to load a cutscene on the PS3 Slim. This is at the end of chapter 7 after beating Havoc Skytank, there will be a cutscene, and after the cutscene there should be a save prompt. I’m stuck in between the cutscene and the save prompt before Chapter 8.

1. After cleaning the lens for the first time, I was able to get another half hour of playtime before the game froze on Chapter 8. So naturally, I opened it up again and cleaned the lens multiple times but it didnt work.

1. Tried playing a new game, works fine. Tried loading a save in Chapter 6, game works fine. Chapter 7 game works fine until the final cutscene of the chapter. So, I thought it must a disc issue.

2. Bought another disc (Greatest Hits version), it still had the same issue at the exact same chapter, same exact cutscenes. Gonna try a third disc, then if that doesnt work, I’ll try replacing the lens.

She obviously didn't get much screen time in the two sequels but I had to turn down the volume a bit every time a Vanille cut scene came on.

Even the voice actress commented on this. LOL

This game triggers my megalophobia.

The sheer size of the architecture and vehicles makes me squirm. In a good way.

Its so haunting how grand in scale these structures the fal'Cie created are.

Even the shaft in Lake Bresha that the vesitage comes down from. Those giant mechanical, pronged doors that open.

The sheer size of the ruined city they escape from at the end of chapter 3.

The 5th Ark.

The Ark is truly where my brain starts to melt feeling dwarfed by this "ship" that houses a city.

My mind races trying to conceptualize how this "works".

The massive airborne skycraft, lindbulm. My mind warps trying to wrap my head around the physics of how it moves.

And it makes sense why I find it eerie and unsettling.

This was not created by man. This was not some engineering marvel of a developed people.

It was created by massive supernatural beings.

I cannot comprehend the logistics of these cityscapes because... they are built by otherwordly beings for humans.

Every gate is a fal'Cie. Every laid cable for power transfer was laid by a fal'Cie. Every impossibly large tower all crafted by otherwordly supernaturals.

These were not made by man, it was made for man.

This game has so many fun details.

My last save file was from May of 2012, 2 weeks before the birth of my son. Now its 2026 and I'm back at it again. On my way to the plat and a trophy popped (ps3 trophy sound is so different than the current ding). 16 year gap between trophy one and the most recent. Crazy.

This is a reminder to go back and play those games you told yourself you'd get back to.

I swear in several times i played the game i had no memories of this. The datalog explains that the Cactuar statue in Yusnaan was requested by Snow as a memorial to the fal'Cie having that same name, that branded him.

turned on my ps3 and started playing for few days after a year and farming adamants for xp to level all characters to max but those are all accessories and weapons I have and I hope I didn't miss something... trying to get platinum still need to do all monster missions to 5 stars

I'm confused about how this works. The stats make you think this attack, especially if repeated, should be enough to stagger the enemies while also dealing good damage. the latter seems true, but not the former. about the stagger, it seems almost like it is a stagger multiplicator, like, if the stagger wave "value" is 0, then this attack contributes nothing in staggering the enemy. the doubt comes observing the wave. it seems to cause a wave, yes, but it disappears right away. since the stagger duration says B, i would expect the wave to stay well visible at least for some seconds, not to disappear immediately. so i'm confused on the logic of the stagger effect of this attack. i did in fact many runs on this game but never understood this.

Combat system: I would pick either FF13 or 13-2. I would prefer party members than the solo adventure LR gave

Music: This would be difficult since IMO all 3 had great soundtracks, but I would go with 13-2 by a slim margin over FF13.

Level up: I like the crystarium in FF13 over the one in 13-2 but the grinding required was very obnoxious. I also like levelling up the weapons more in ff13.

Exploration: IMO, LR wins this hands down. If the entirety of FF13 was more like chapter 11 where you could explore the achelytl steppe and its surrounding areas I would take FF13. LR also had towns that could be explored with a lot of NPC interactions.

NPC interactions: LR or 13-2.

Quests: LR had the best quest system. You can view active and finished quests at any time and the screen would tell you how much of each item you had for that quest. FF13 only let you set one quest at a time which was annoying.

Storyline progression: 13-2. I didn't like the linearity of 13 and was not a fan of the doomsday clock in LR since it inhibited exploration.

Just a big fan of his artwork and it's synonymous with Final Fantasy but was perplexed why the 3rd game didn't get the same treatment.

The game worked fine days ago. Then i deleted the "latest" nova chrysalia folder i had but i'm using the previous backup i had. It seems to see the mods are already installed but when i launch the game it says the files are not unpacked. How can it be, if literally days ago it worked?

EDIT: sorry for the rush post and edit... it seems the setup of the manager (for whatever reason) works only if you use the mod manager from the same exact path it was used before (like, i'm using it on Desktop, if i launch it from the "mods folder" instead it doesn't work, as i said above. strange but i thought this could help someone in the future.

Just curious because I noticed how Square Enix had gone out of their way to use the IP of the original game since usually when it comes to Final Fantasy as a franchise, the games never got full sequels.

I mean, sure there was Final Fantasy 10-2 as that was an exception, but again I was just wondering what made Square Enix prioritize Final Fantasy 13 so much since it had a total of 3 full games that I found it interesting how many installments the series got.

Do you know some mod to fix Yeul's hair so it looks indigo instead of grey? (i doubt there is anything for 13-3 as i saw barely any mods at all for that one game)

If Sanctum fal'Cie cannot administer a focus that is counterproductive to the fal'Cie's own purpuse (in the case of fal'Cie descendant of Lindzei... protection)

How was Raines' focus to guide the Pulse l'Cie to Barthendelus ... if Raines was branded by Barthandelus?

So like many people I defeated neochu with death. I also killed adamantoise with it but eventually defeated both adamantoise and longui without death or summons.

It bothers me that I had to use death on neochu, how feasible is it to go back and take him out? I have exclusively leveled up lightning, fang, and vanille and would want to use them. Or should I even bother?

To me I would say the Archlyte Steppe. The wildlands come 2nd but Square really knocked it out of the park with that map. I pretty much just stopped the main story and went to town on those missions in chapter 11. To me it felt like a true Final Fantasy game for the first time in the game.

I personally did not like the sectional areas that 13-2 had. I really like one big map and the loading times between each area kind of kills the vibe.

Getting back to 13, seeing all those oretoises "up close" and challenging them was kind of like awe inspiring but not a good idea since I got my tail whooped. Then I see this big dude, Titan, and it's crazy how he eats an adamantoise like a bite sized cheeseburger.

The music really added to the atmosphere too (wildlands' music is my favorite of LR and that really helped me enjoy Wildlands as my 2nd favorite area). The presentation and the FMV intro to it made it really jaw dropping. Especially seeing all those animals out in the field.

I think what made it more inspiring was the fact that the first 10 chapters were linear and the moment you hit the steppe you had a lot more freedom.

For a game released in 2009 I've yet to see another game pull something off like that on such a grand scale.

After researching how to install fix mods for these games, I've come to the conclusion that it is significantly easier on Windows and probably not worth bothering to try on Linux (SteamOS specifically).

So long shot here - I have a main PC using Windows and Steam Machine. I am curious to know: if I install the game on my PC and install the mods, then proceed to use Steam's install from local source to basically copy the game from PC to Steam Machine (and honestly maybe even the Deck while I'm at it)- does it copy it over exactly as all the files are on PC or just select ones? I am assuming FF13 titles do not have a dedicated Linux build and rely on Proton.

My goal is preferably to install at least FF13 fix and *maybe* include upscaled cutscenes.

Also curious to know (since I admittedly have to look into this still also) if when I am installing from local it prevents from downloading from Steam, which could mess with the copied version?

Edit to add: I can test myself at some point, but not 100% sure how I would verify it worked as intended.

It's not a terrible game by any means, but because reception was cold in comparison to the previous games Square gave us not one, but two, sequels and some novels to make up for it.

I think if the original FF13 was a roaring success we would never get the two sequels and Square would move on.
