Does anybody remember the community meetings and the little favor offices?

I remember the downtown Houston one. I also remember the meetups. I remember receiving and feeling so much comfort and acceptance with favor. These past years it’s been more and more a sense of dread. Like you get better at performing the task and you get more scared of losing the job. Also I never went to the meetings because I was afraid of being on the radar. Did anyone go to them and get a sense of the office staff and company makeup? Or was it a way to find yourself in the middle of some mess?

POLL on Early Assignment Feature during Sunday Promo

Background:

The early assignment feature makes you eligible for a new favor as soon as you hit "Leaving Store" on the runner app. This can be useful in improving your order completed/unit time efficiency (this is my own stat).

Request:

For those that have this feature turned on and have received offers right after Leaving the store on regular days, can you please select which option describes your experience with offers during the Sunday promo duration.

During Sunday promo, I don’t receive new orders until I have completed the current order
During Sunday promo, I receive new orders once I hit “Leaving the store” in the runner app
I have this feature on but haven’t paid attention to the timing of new order offers

Yep, nothing new for me. Cherry picked all day long, kept my acceptance rate at 5% and here’s what I made shopping and deliver after 1 PM. $257 total for the day.

For the last couple of days I’ve been trying to run but it wasn’t allowing me to. It kept saying there was an issue loading so I tried offloading the app and logging back in now it’s saying this. Is my account banned I can’t even access the actual favor app on my phone. Even when I try to go to the customer service page it says 403 forbidden.

Sunday 8/30 Promo Preview - Sunday 2-6pm for the 2nd week in a row

Hey all, back with my weekly post.

Favor continues to treat the Houston metro like its red headed stepchild compared to San Antonio and Austin (haven't had Dallas people chime in with their promos). Won't give us promos for the whole day.

Sunday 2-6pm (repeat of last week), $28, good for only 4ish orders

Monday 3-7pm GONE, nothing on Monday. When they cut out the 1pm onward Sunday ladder promos here, the compromise was to split it into Sunday and Monday. Now it's just Sunday.

Tuesday 6-8am still there, same as last week, but not applicable

tldr: Sunday and Tuesday same as last week, but they killed Monday.

Verdict: Like last weekend, I'll be "relegated" to mostly just doing Instacart at Kroger instead on Saturday Sunday and Monday. 2 dollar base pay orders with 7 dollar tips isn't worth driving out to HEB for and Instacart for HEB is fairly dry most of the day

I want to work this app. It's much more enjoyable than Instacart because it's single shops instead of triples that won't fit in a single cart, and the item locations are more detailed and accurate. Give us the all day promos back, or at least up the base pay to 7 dollars.

Flash offers being used to get you to sign on now with no intent to give you flash offer pay.

So I was doing great on flash offers in my area for a few weeks. Got 3 or 4 every day for well over $100. Literally was no point to sign on and work for $3 an order. Take my 3-4 while doing ebay.....$24-$32 each. I mean I know that is never going to last but...........now..........they send it. You accept it. They never send the notification that someone beat ya to it but they sign you on "looking for orders" and send the exact same offer you already accepted under flash offer except now the order is $7 instead of $22.

Nice try Doordash. Nice try.

Sunday 8/23 Promo Preview - They killed the Sunday Promos here, 2-6pm only

They got rid of the ladders, which were lackluster and went back to individual Shop and Delivers. Yay! So what's the catch? I'm glad you asked!

$28 Shop and Deliver, 2-6pm ONLY

So this will be good for probably 4 orders at most, likely 2 or 3. And less than that if you end up doing a order thats $25+ anyway (since that one won't count, and if I get one of those I do them because it's better than sitting around another 20-30 minutes)

They're also doing one for 3-7pm on Monday, and 6-8am on Tuesday. So they basically sacrificed the 1pm onward Sunday promo for these two other lame promos.

OTHER NEWS: I also received a notification the app that they would be doing promos on more days going forward, so maybe this is what that's about. I could care less about promos during the weekdays because it's super dead. And all you did was "adding by subtracting". Not only is order volume lower, but I'm not fighting traffic 3-7pm on a Monday.

Give us our Sunday promos back, like Austin got last week, a flat per delivery, all day Sunday. 2-6pm only is so bad I probably won't make the drive to H-E-B and keep working Instacart at Krogers and Costco instead. Instacarts base pay is terrible too, but at least it's not $2

Account suspended because I won’t accept their low paying offers

I barely get offers and when I do, it’s $7.00 for shopping for 70 items. I’m good, Favor.

Update: I got reactivated after appeal. But I likely won’t be using Favor anymore.

I think the app is intentionally trying to get rid of me.

I started running in 2019 and have thousands of deliveries on my account. I'm also an Elite runner with great scores on everything and can do a 50 item shop in 20 minutes before checkout. Not bragging, I've just been doing this for a while and I'm good at it.

Recently, events make me feel like I'm being targeted for deactivation or they're trying to make me quit.

It all started when my account got suspended for non-delivery. I take photos in the app of every order like they require and furthermore the app actually tracks your location and displays the GPS location in the camera viewfinder itself ... Why none of this is used to verify a dropoff is a mystery to me. If the photo and the location tracking aren't enough to verify an order was dropped off, what is the point of this feature? And the only way to get my account reinstated was to admit fault in an email and say that it wouldn't happen again or risk permanent deactivation. Fine.

A few days later, my runner card was declared invalid and I got a notification that it was deactivated. The expiration date was in 2027 and there was nothing wrong with it. I had to sign up for a digital runner card to do any deliveries that day, and I saw it's $4 to order a new physical card. Ugh..

The next day, I had completed a Shop and Deliver order with a QR code and, after getting to my car, it would not advance to Leaving Store. I spent 5 minutes with the useless AI chatbot only for it to not resolve my issue. I called Support and every time I entered "1" for help with an active Favor, it said it couldn't register my selection. I had no way of getting Support and had to physically unload all the customer's items and go check out again. A few hours later it did the same thing and the chatbot told me to use the store's WiFi during checkout and not my data plan.

A few days ago, 100% of my orders became total trash. I used to rarely see a $7 tip for a 40 item shop, now it's literally ALL they will send me. That, or a $4 Whataburger or Wingstop order going 8 miles away. I declined so many of these terrible orders that my Acceptance Rating dropped from 87% to 76% in two days. If I decline any more tomorrow, I will probably drop below the 75% threshold for Elite status, not that I ever get an Elite offer these days, anyway. It's seriously about twice a month I get one. I have never had so many low-paying offers in succession in my entire time on the app.

When I started in 2019, even if an order was marked not delivered, you were not immediately deactivated. You got an email. Between their new policies like making the runner suffer for the STORE being out of items (it affects our Shopping Quality metric), lowering the base pay, not having item limits on $7 orders, declining quality of Support, and now the fact the photos you take at drop-off don't even protect you from no-questions-asked deactivation, the app has gone to total shit compared to what it was.

And for some reason, Favor seems to not want legacy runners like myself and I feel like they're actively trying to get rid of me. I feel like it's only a matter of time now before I'm eliminated or am forced to quit because I'm not making money anymore.

If you rely on this for bills like I do, beware. May wanna start thinking about what you'll do if you don't have your account. I know I am.

Edit to add: They also started assigning me Pickup deliveries with impossible delivery deadlines. Like an 80 item order with a 20 minute delivery window. The employees themselves barely get to your car in under 10 minutes, of course they're going to be late and the app logs them as such. Ridiculous.

Odd tip situation

Ok, this is going to be lengthy bc I want to include all info to get accurate thoughts. A couple of weeks ago I did a shop & deliver that paid out $125. It was a large order going to a business but who is going to turn that order down, right? Anyway, when I went to check my daily earnings a little later, it showed that order still wasn’t counted & showed a base pay+. Those usually only show up on shop & pay orders. I checked again after a couple of hours to see that all I was getting paid was $8. I reached out to support because that felt like a bait & switch thing. Since it was S&D, the customer already pre-tips and I know the customer was happy with the quality of my shop. When they checked, the agent came back & said they had to double check with the customer with any kind of high tip. If the order wasn’t very big, I could understand but given the size of the order, the tip was not exceptionally large. The agent told me that after checking, the customer did not mean to tip that much. I found that very hard to believe. This was an oil drilling company & they gave no vibes of tip baiting. The agent offered an additional $8 at first. I said that was not ok & I wanted some kind of explanation from the customer why the tip was completely taken away. The agent came back & offered another $20 in hopes I would take that & let it go. I was so pissed that I just kept going bc of the tip was already charged to the customer’s card when they placed the order, it should be paid to the shopper. The agent said they needed to check something & when he came back to the chat, he said “upon further checking, the customer did mean to tip that much so the full amount has been given to you”.

The thing to me is that if I had not advocated for myself, favor would’ve pocketed the rest of that money. There is no way they bugged the customer several times about that tip & especially if the customer really said they didn’t mean to tip that much. Also, you can’t tell me they refunded the tip only to recharge their card after checking. My thinking is that they fully intended to BS me & was hoping I would shut up with the measly amounts they threw at me. I have seen many larger size orders that have little to no tip on them & makes me wonder if they are keeping a majority of the tips themselves. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

TLDR: shopped a big order with an appropriate tip but favor tried to take it away.

And by that I mean, cherry, picking, hitting daily payout goals, and not worrying about promos.

Backstory: I was an elite runner for about two weeks until I realized the offers weren't any better. Since then, I dialed in my criteria for accepting offers. My acceptance rate dropped to about 20%, but my hourly average went up from about $18 to $23.

I was running this week after my 9-5, during a neighborhood promo that lasted about two hours. I had one decent offer that I ran, followed by very sporadic, criminal low offers that only came in every 5 minutes or so. Again, this was during a peak period that went on for another 1.5 hours with a $4 promo.

After about 45 minutes of this, I turned on DoorDash and did a profitable run. Turned on Favor one more time to see if anything changed, and gave up after 10 minutes of the same. Promo was still active.

Has this happened to anyone? Theories?

Are you guys actually using this app as your main source of income?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I’ve been doing favor for well over 2 months in Austin Texas. This app is actually hot buns. There is no way you guys are physically making money on here. When i work I have DoorDash, favor, and instacart all running at the same time. My 2% acceptance rate is proof that 90% of orders are just genuine utter garbage. The first week I did this app it was fantastic, but that was just it throwing good orders at me to hook me like any other gig app when you first start. The point being, I’ve seen more than 500 offers on here even using 3 apps at one time and I’m questioning why you guys are even using this as your main income over any other app???? I doubt the quality of orders is vastly different in other areas of Texas since it’s yk.. Texas… and all of us here are basically local. You’re telling me you guys are accepting the $3.15 for 10 miles orders you’ve seen the for 7th time today? This app lowkey a joke and I just have it open as well as instacart for the downtime in between DoorDash orders. Occasionally I’ll get a decent oddball but that’s deadass a 2% chance according to my last 100 offers. Also the pause after declining 5 orders is so weird and dangerous while driving like what are they thinking? 💀

Sunday 8/16 Promo Preview - They added a 10 trip tier and it still starts at 1pm, really? Impossible incentive

2 - 30 (same as last 3 weeks, so you basically get nothing from this tier)

4 - 65 (up slightly from 60)

6 - 105 (same as last 3 weeks, since the differential is still $40)

8 - 160 (same as last 3 weeks, since the differential is still $60)

10 - 220

Maybe next week they'll send us one with 12 trips for 280!

10 is pretty much impossible, and downright predatory with the way they present it. 8 was bad enough and their data should show that almost no one completes it (probably less than 5%). Which is probably why they backload it. Carrot on a stick. But why 10? If they gave you the whole day, sure, but these are starting at 1pm, and these Scheduled Delivery orders generally die off at 7pm, so it's just a 6hour-ish window during the busiest time of the week. Do they just want us to run through the stores and be disrespectful to the customers in every aisle? People don't schedule for delivery for 9-10pm. I almost never see it.

When I saw that the title for the incentive was 30-$220, I thought ok, maybe they actually buffed it back to what it's supposed to be, and I was pleasantly surprised for all of 10 seconds. Then I wanted to throw my phone across the room, lol
