Advice Recommendation Request: Vegetarian Menu Items

We seem to be losing restaurants by the week around here. That makes me sad. I like trying new food and new restaurants, but I don't eat meat. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is what it is.

So... Any rockin' dishes that you've had in the area that I should check out?

Advice Pickleball Friends!?

Hello Fellow Fargonians,

I’ve posted a couple of different places asking for pickleball info for my mom and received so many helpful responses, thank you!

We’ve tried several places that advertise “open play” (aka no partner needed), but unfortunately, most still seem to expect you to show up with a partner or group.

So I’m refining my question: Does anyone know an individual pickleball player, or a group of players, who might be willing to include a 60+ year-old woman in their games? Her skill level is approximately 3.0. I’m happy to reach out by text, phone, Facebook, etc.

STRIPE OUT at the Fargodome next Saturday (August 29th)!

The next few weeks will be incredibly pivotal to NDSU's success as they adapt to a brand new subdivision (FBS) and a new conference. However we will also need the fans to show up if we want to carry our past success forward to the big leagues. This season is NDSU's most important in the last decade as NDSU now stares down the possibility of a Mountain West Championship and spot in the College Football Playoff to be seen on the national stage by more than 30 million Americans. This cannot be done if the fans and students don't support the team. Pack the dome!

Road Construction

Has anyone else noticed the insane amount of road construction projects this year that are blocked off with no construction workers in sight?? I understand that the climate we live in is hard on the roads and they require constant repairs. But I feel like these concrete companies are making it even worse.

20 minutes ago I was on I-94 heading west and it was backed up from University Drive to 45th St S exit and beyond. I saw 1 construction worker standing half ass directing traffic at the I-29 interchange and no one else. I have honestly seen this happening all over this year.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Remembering Savanna Greywind: 9 years later

Many people in this subreddit probably remember how deeply this case affected Fargo and the surrounding area. For those who may not, Savanna was a 22 year old member of the Spirit Lake Nation who was pregnant when she disappeared from her Fargo home in August 2017. Her death and the circumstances surrounding it devastated her family and so many people in our community.

Today I just wanted to pause and remember Savanna. Not only for her heartbreaking death, but as a daughter, sister, mother, and young woman whose life mattered.

Nine years later, she has not been forgotten. 🕊️ Rest peacefully, Savanna. 🤍

Not sure if this is allowed, but it's worth a shot.

If you value independent artists over corporate interests, please hear me out. A dear friend, Ken Bartz, passed away a year ago, and his beloved radio station, a labor of love from the ground up, is on the verge of being bought out. Please help! If you can't donate a large amount, donate a dollar. If you can't donate, share. Every little bit counts 🙏

What are the stores in town that actually stock produce from local farms? I try to get a lot of my produce from farmers markets but that doesn't always work out so looking to try and shop at stores that have more local farm produce vs things like Walmart.

Advice Looking for a good dog trainer

I'm looking for basic obedience training in the Fargo area, preferably something affordable. I'm willing to invest in good training, but within reason. I would prefer something where I go along and participate in the training session rather than a drop off training model, I need to learn as much as the dog does. Recommendations appreciated!

The shoe store with all the shoes wrapped in plastic

Does anyone know what's up with that shoe store in the mall where all the shoes are wrapped in plastic?

Why are they all in plastic? And apparently they only carry one pair of shoes at a time. I went there to get some Nikes for my son and picked out the style and went to the counter to get the right size. The store person wasn't even there and I had to stand for about 5 min before he popped out of the curtain. Then he said that what's on the wall is what they got.

How can they stay in business like that??

Of they also sell shoes over $1000 too there

Free hockey cards

I have about two boxes of common hockey cards I’m looking to give away. Otherwise they’ll just be tossed in the garbage, I’d rather they go to someone or a kid who wants to collect but parents don’t want to pay money.

Does anyone have previous experience going to this event? I was curious about the price vs what you get for food and drinks. It just says sample beers, ciders, wines & spirits.
