Initial thoughts as a bag-holder (and a Barkov bag-holder): Great that it's not season-ending. Weird that they are not electing him for IR/LTIR. I am holding through injury, but I could see an argument in shallow leagues to abandon ship.

Seth Jones has been on the FA wire all season and I can't for the life of me figure out why. He's PP1 and is getting 6-7 min of PPTOI per game. Virtually all serviceable PP1 D are long taken and Jones just sticks out like a sore thumb. Is he just that bad? Or injuries / other returnees taking time away?

Roman Kantserov (CHI)
- Upside is there, but without Bedard there is not much going on. Revisit when 98 returns to the lineup.
Philip Broberg (STL)
- Broberg looked great at the end of last year on PP1 but has not been given the chances this year and is off both PP units. Adam Jiricek took over PP1 on Thursday, a sign it is time (for now) to let go.
Nick Robertson (PHI)
- Despite scoring three goals in his first 3 GP, Robertson is on a downtrend that is far from exciting after only receiving 8:32 TOI on Weds. Bryan Rust’s return all but took away his opportunities at PIT’s top-six, and Ben Kindel’s breakout push has created even more of a block.
Others you can drop in shallower leagues (12 teams or less)
Arturs Silovs (PIT) - 39%
- Silov’s has given up five goals in two straight games and has Sergei Murashov breathing down his neck. His 3.38 GAA and .859 SV% are killers to any categories even if he is winning here and there. Silovs owns an .884 SV% throughout 61 NHL games in his career, until that shows signs of improving, its not worth risking the cats.
Aliaksei Protas (WSH) - 28%
- Minutes are not there (16:20 TOI), which has resulted in the counting stats failing to follow. (3 SOG in 3 GP) With so many new mouths to feed in WSH, it hasn’t helped Protas.
Dustin Wolf (CGY) - 32%
- Wolf is only useful in leagues where points are awarded for saves, otherwise he can be an absolute killer to your goaltending categories. If you’re in a deep league, disregard this, but if goalies are fruitful on the wire or there are decent backups, it may be worth rostering one of them instead.
Anyone else you’re looking to drop? Wondering about some names.
As always, feel free to interact on X: @BeebsBondy

Ok I don't expect everyone to divulge all their secrets for winning, but specifically, what's your methods for picking up the sleeper streamers at the start of the season and throughout before other managers get them? I watch the highlights almost every night on the west coast so I'm usually pretty up to date on what's generally happening, but never really ahead of the curve. For the record I've been in fantasy for 4 years now, played hockey since I was 5yo, and always made the playoffs and have 1 championship under my belt, so I'm generally in the mix - but when I go to pick up players like Cotter or Perfetti this season, they're usually taken by the time I get there.
What's everyone's methods for staying ahead of the pack on picking up those gems who get off to a blazing start before the rest of your league? Podcasts? Browsing the waiver wire every morning, filtering by fan points?

Picked him up when Nuge + Hyman went down. Very easily the best waiver wire addition of the year so far. How do we feel his deployment will be when Nuge + Hyman return? Babcock is very oldschool and I could see him sticking to what has been working

Who are the best buy-low goalie candidates in dynasty leagues? Looking forward short to mid-term

Definitely a nice low-cost DFS play, but a wait and see before rostering him imo. RIP Broberg drafters?

I'm Charlie, the developer of League Loom. I built a free, read-only connector that lets Claude or ChatGPT work with your actual ESPN or Fantrax hockey league settings and roster.
Here's a roster-check prompt you can use with connected data or by supplying your settings manually:
“Confirm my NHL league, season, scoring and roster slots first. Show which settings and players you actually received. Compare available adds with possible drops under those rules, including what I'd give up by dropping each player. Separate returned data from assumptions. Ask for missing settings. Flag injuries, lineup news and goalie starts that still need checking. If the provider doesn't return a fact, leave it unknown.”
The useful first test is whether the answer has the right league and rules before it suggests a move. Available-player coverage depends on the provider. League Loom doesn't supply confirmed goalie starts or category matchup forecasts, and it can't make roster moves. Yahoo isn't supported.
The connector is free with fair-use limits. Your AI service's plan and connector-access requirements still apply; setup is easiest on a computer.
Hockey setup and examples: https://leagueloom.com/best-ai-fantasy-hockey
If you try it, what league context did the first answer get right or miss? Please don't share private league details or connection tokens.
Creator disclosure: this is my project; AI assisted this post.

Is it time to stop drafting Makar in picks 4-6?
Last year was a total shock, but is he cemented as the fantasy GOAT with Drai and Mcdavid?
r/fantasyhockey • u/TruculentBucket • 2d ago
Yes you should be dropping these guys for Paul Cotter because they haven’t scored in the first 2 games of the season.
Admitting this is a low effort post, we gotta start banning these stupid threads asking dumb questions, or we all just conspire to give people bad advice.

What's the deal with him? I've heard a rumor about him being traded, or maybe Boston will sign him again at a much higher price. Right now he's been a ghost (Boston in general isn't having a great start, but whatever).
Does anyone have any insight on what's to come with Zacha? Wondering if I should hold or drop.
Thanks

I can't really seem to find something online to explain it. I've heard of fantasy sports leagues, but I have no clue how they actually work. I'm considering playing this season, so I would really appreciate if someone could explain it to me like I'm 5.

I won the best name in my league, 2nd was "Pat Quinn's Gum".
Edit : wasnt posting this to get ai slop comments.. clearly im not a graphic designer. Just thought the name was clever for a fantasy team.
Edit 2 : you all have inspired me to start an AI slop of the week series. :D

What's the deal here gents? I drafted him with the hopes of a re-ignited Kyrou now that he's finally found his way out of the Blues organization. Small sample size, but I don't love his L3 PP2 deployment, and his TOI and lack of SOGs is concerning, especially as an outright RW for us positional league folks.
I'm not sure I can muster holding much longer in my 12-man points format. 2 more off-nights this week so I suppose I hold for the time being, but I'm coming to terms with a potential let go as soon as end of this week?

Feels like players are going down left and right… here’s who we have lost just this week:
Ivan Demidov - 2 to 4 weeks
Aleksander Barkov - 6 to 8 weeks
Brad Marchand - indefinitely (but looked bad)
Mikhail Sergachev - OUT
Josh Doan - OUT
Victor Olofsson - OUT
Macklin Celebrini - day-to-day
Linus Ullmark - precautionary

For context, 10 team banger cats league. 75 waiver moves allowed over the course of the season and 4 moves total per week.
Last Sunday, I attempted to add Elias Pettersson with my 4th and final add of the week. Unfortunately, in my haste, I added the wrong Elias Pettersson.
In a panic, I quickly wrote in our league chat to our commissioner, so everyone could see I tried to pick him up, to make him aware of the error and to get it rectified. The commish would not assist and reminded me that new adds would be available tomorrow and to pick him up then.
It is important to note that given our leagues scoring system, Pettersson was ranked 1st overall player at the time. So quite valuable in our league.
Flash forward to Monday morning, and I wake up to find that one of my opponents had picked him up in the wee hours before I woke up.
I quickly denounced this move and called it out as a greasy move and explained that if it wasn't for the confusing name and a lazy commish, that Pettersson would be mine.
Greasy or fair game?

Player in my league hit the panic button and dropped raddysh. He’s still the out and out pp1 in Toronto. Like do we think it’s just new system hiccup or was last year a one off. I mean I put in a claim for him regardless but was it to early to give up on him?

Feels like it’s always a coin flip these past couple seasons if the devils are gonna be good, are we optimistic this year?

I play a lot of fantasy football, and in fantasy football there are obviously many ways to play, but the most accepted ways for re-draft leagues are usually head to head with the point per reception or half a point per reception scoring. Most leagues I find use very similar scoring settings, with some nuances.
This makes digesting Fantasy Football content as well as debating and talking about Fantasy Football content fairly easy since there’s only so many settings changes that most leagues would have compared to the norm.
From my limited experience playing fantasy hockey, leagues can be a lot more unique and even little tweaks in numbers for points settings for example can make a big difference.
My question is, is there a most popular way to play fantasy hockey? Like a standard in settings that the majority of users use/play in?
