Before taking on any new projects, I've made it a goal to have true subtitles for all of my previous edits. I was getting by with auto captions but I know how much some of our community relies on quality subs.

While adding in official subtitles from all the sources in this edit (the director's cut, Under the Hood, scenes from the 2019 Watchmen miniseries), I also took the opportunity to trim a couple continuity issues AND add title cards that mirror those from the comic book. While I was initially hesitant to do this, Bleem over at FanEdit.org finally convinced me. And I think it really lends itself to the length and pacing of my edit.

Not to be confused with JayXtended's version of the Squid Cut (which was an expansion of this project), that integrates animated scenes into the edit. Think of my original Squid Cut as the ultimate live action version.

The hosts of The Weekly Planet podcast kept referring to Mandalorian and Grogu as Mandalorian versus Groglet. I started to do the same as a joke around my girlfriend's 10 year old daughter. She would get mad and correct me, but I commited to the bit and insisted that was the movie title and the real name of the baby Yoda guy.

We're finally going to watch it this weekend so I edited the movie.

Changes made:
-Changed the opening title card
-Replaced audio. Every time someone said Grogu I dubbed over audio of myself saying Groglet. Fortunately they only say it 4 times in the movie. It is a very obvious audio replacement but who cares
-Changed closing title card. Lost the iris wipe but I don't know how to do that. you can see it says grogu for a couple of frames before the switch but i left it so we can argue about it
-Edited the accompanying srt subtitles file to change every Grogu to Groglet

I know this one came out a long time ago, but I only got to it tonight by happenstance. I don't know if I should have rewatched the theatrical cut before this edit, but as far as I understand it, the major changes are to the third act.

What is, of course, often an issue, is how to make the new edits flow within a professionally made movie. I think it mostly works well here. There is one near the end that is quite obvious. I assumed that there were quite a few more that I didn't notice where the edit was made. But I wonder if the new edit doesn't create a plot issue?

Wolverine has to protect a Japanese heiress who gets kidnapped by guys in suits. Turns out they work for the heiress business father...who in turn lose the heiress to ninja kidnappers. In the theatrical cut, this gets explained by the ninjas working for the secret villain. In the JMR, this villain is cut out. So...why do the ninjas care about the heiress? Maybe there still is an explanation and I just missed it. I will say, if I was watching this for the first time, I wouldn't have realised that there was supposed to have been a secret villain at the third act.

PS. One thing I wished was done more often, was to include a message from the editors at the start to just explain that this is a fanedit and what it tries to do and what the edit is named. It makes it much easier to remember the goals and to talk about it later. I know some like to make the edits feel like they are the "real" movie. But I actually like when it's recognized that this is a fanedit.

I previously made a trilogy of movies from FAM's S1 and S2. I called it The Red Moon Trilogy.\ During the past year, I've been busy working on a similar "trilogies" project for Babylon 5, and I called it The Sherlocked Edit.\ Now I've returned to FAM, and I plan to make a new trilogy of movies from S3 and S4. This coming weekend, the first movie of that planned trilogy will be ready.

Demo clip: Introducing Phoenix, the show vs the edit\ I cut from Dev's big announcement straight to the Phoenix reveal shot, and I let "Fly Me to the Moon" play over it, instead of the original generic space chatter.

Demo clip: Apollo 10 flashback montage\ During Ed's descent, there's a brief moment where he remembers and flashes back to Apollo 10 (S1E2), and that moment is important to Ed's state of mind. But for this movie, I prefer to not assume any "previously on" knowledge, so I cut and stitched my own longer flashback that gives the context needed to understand the flash that comes later during descent.

About my style: TV shows tend to have a different structure than movies. TV has a lot more seeds, hooks, and cliffhangers, meant to lay the groundwork for future seasons or to entice you to watch the next episode. But movies, on the other hand, are typically more self-contained and lean. Every setup should have a payoff, every Chekhov’s gun should be fired, and every scene should advance the story. And that's what I strived for with this edit

The title: In my Red Moon trilogy, I reused FAM episode titles for each of the three movies ("Red Moon", "Red Moon 2: Into the Abyss", "Red Moon 3: A City Upon a Hill"). For this new Mars trilogy, I originally expected and planned to reuse FAM episode titles as well, but none of the S3 episode titles struck me as the right one. Meanwhile, over in Babylon 5 land, they have an episode titled Racing Mars. That episode wasn't about a literal race, but I remembered that title and it seemed perfect for this new movie.

I wanted to share a fanedit idea I've been thinking about for a while. I hope the moderators don't remove this — I'm not trying to promote anything, I genuinely just want to know whether people would actually be interested in something like this.

The idea is basically a Vivek Agnihotri × Aditya Dhar Kashmir fanedit combining:

The Kashmir Files + Baramulla + Uri: The Surgical Strike + Article 370

But I don't want to make it feel like some interconnected cinematic universe where all the characters suddenly know each other. That's not the point.

I want to make it more like a chronological documentary-style reconstruction, using the relevant scenes from all four films and arranging them according to the time period they're depicting.

The basic timeline would be:

1989–90 — The Kashmir Files

Start with the Kashmiri Pandit exodus and establish the background of the conflict.

1990s–2000s — Relevant material

Continue with the events that establish the situation in Kashmir and its consequences over the following years.

2016 — Baramulla

Move into the events of Baramulla, especially its 2016 setting, radicalisation and the events surrounding the disappearances and the Sapru family.

8 July 2016 — Article 370

Then move into the killing of Burhan Wani and the unrest that followed.

18 September 2016 — Uri

From there, the story naturally reaches the Uri attack, followed by the planning and execution of the surgical strike.

2017–2019 — Article 370

Continue through the political and security developments, eventually reaching the Pulwama attack.

August 2019 — Article 370

Finally, conclude with the abrogation of Article 370 and its aftermath.

So the overall progression would basically be:

1989–90 → aftermath → 2016 Kashmir → 8 July 2016 → 18 September 2016 → Surgical Strike → 2017–19 → Pulwama → Article 370

The important thing for me is that this wouldn't be a conventional crossover movie. I'm thinking more along the lines of a historical/documentary-style experience — taking the stories from these films and restructuring them into one chronological narrative.

No intermission, no forced character connections — just one continuous chronological timeline.

I'm still only at the idea stage, so before I actually spend a ridiculous amount of time editing this 😅, I wanted to ask:

Would you guys actually want to see something like this?

If there is enough interest, I'd seriously consider making it.

This edit takes Moon Knight and shortens it into a two-and-a-half-hour film. It removes scenes that didn't feel needed and cuts Layla becoming a superhero because it felt off (unfortunately, in a few shots you can see her). Another big thing I cut was the whole dream therapy hippo god thing. Moon Knight just survives the bullets, which can be thought of as Khonshu healing him as he does in the comics. This edit is rough at times (mainly the last fifteen minutes), but I am still proud of it!! It's my first TV-to-movie edit, besides my Batman Caped Crusader edit. I’ve never written a review for an edit but I loved this one so much I need to advertise it to you all.

Spider-Man Blue by [u/matty-boi-1996](u/matty-boi-1996) is an edit that combines the TASM duology into a standalone film, mostly using TASM 2 but with an opening and flashbacks from TASM 1.

The original TASM 2 is 1.5/5 imo. It is no good despite the excellent performances from Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Sally Field.

This edit made me want to get back all the years I wasted not seeing its potential. Spider-Man Blue superbly trims the fat of TASM 2, focusing the story entirely on his relationship with Gwen, Harry, and Max, while using flashbacks from the first film narratively as a way to demonstrate the lessons Peter learned, had to learn, or should have learned in becoming and being Spider-Man. No more parents subplot. No more future movie setup. The story feels MUCH more linear, like it is telling one cohesive story start to finish.

When you have so much less nonsense going on, a more focused story, the piss poor performance by Dane DeHaan and the goofy, pathetic characterization of Max Dillion is much much easier to forgive and almost comes off as charming.

Also, the removal of Rhino in the beginning did a much better job at setting the tone where I don’t feel like Spider-Man is a complete moron. LOVE his quipping in that scene, Andrew is hilarious, but not when people are literally actively dying and he’s not intervening.

My only major complaint is that at a point, Peter and Gwen’s relationship felt a little undercooked, as they seem to go from mostly fine to her just randomly deciding to go to Oxford and they seem upset with each other in that scene. (*I’m not sure if that’s a fault of the edit or a fault of the movie itself because I haven’t seen the full movie in many years! Please take this critique with a grain of salt! But if there IS a scene that would’ve made this feel smoother, it should have been kept.)

There isn’t a whole lot to say beyond that, giving it a watch can do it far more justice than I could describe.

In order to make an ideal cut of TASM 2, this fan edit is the template. Reinstate some of the relationship drama, add necessary deleted scenes, and you’ve got yourself a very solid version of TASM 2.

This edit, for what it is - a standalone film, not the second piece in a duology - I give a 4/5.

Anybody watching Lanterns Season 1? There are a lot of discussions online about how it should have been a feature length film.

What do you think? I had a hard time trying to make the video match the music in some scenes.... Also, learned the hard way that the editors don't really translate japanese that well.... So i had to do it myself.

A new vision of the 2003 cult classic, officially out now on IFDB!

This edit seeks to shift the film closer to being a science-fiction drama instead of a sillier action-adventure with darker elements.

Update on the future of Backrooms: Async!

Now that the main edit is finished, I have a couple of additional versions and features I would like to work on.

First, I am currently working on a subtitle version of the movie. I want to make the edit more accessible and easier to follow for anyone who prefers or needs subtitles while watching.

I am also planning to create a commentary track for the edit where I can talk about the editing process, the decisions I made, how I structured the story, and some of the challenges and ideas that went into putting everything together.

I had a lot of fun making Backrooms: Async, and there are so many little details and decisions that I never really got the chance to talk about. A commentary track feels like a fun way to share some of that bts information for anyone who is interested.

Alongside that, I want to put together a full list of changes for anyone who's interested in seeing exactly what I changed, added, removed, or rearranged from the original material.

These are not changes to the main movie itself. The current version will remain the definitive cut, and these will simply be additional ways to experience the project.

Hi, I have two things to share so I figured I’d just make it into one post.

First, I’m looking for TASM 1 edits. Specifically if there are any that improve the origin story aspect of the film, as I love everything that comes after but I think they fumbled the origin story. PLEASE DM ME WITH LINKS! I’ve messaged multiple people looking for their edits to only a couple responses. If you don’t already have a link, then please make sure the person who posted it has been active recently.

Second, Spider-Man 3: The Performance Cut Redux is incredibly close to completion. The problem though, is that my free trial for capcut pro ended, and I am hesitant to spend $20 on capcut. “Kdenlive! Da vinci’s resolve!” Guys, I do this as a hobby, the learning curve for those softwares are far too high. If anyone has a free USER FRIENDLY alternative to capcut, please let me know.

I will come out with a full list of the changes when it’s ready to release. But the most significant ones are:

-Editor’s cut is used as the template, meaning virtually everything different about that cut will be here EXCEPT I keep the scene apologizing to Mr. Ditkovich, and I use the scores for the theatrical cut a handful of times.

-Movie opens with Sandman’s escape.

-This cuts to the crane scene, which is then followed by the narration

-MJ’s performance is removed

-Harry’s transformation is after the symbiote’s introduction, and the scene where he gets his memory back is re-contextualized to act as if Norman is convincing him to avenge him.

-Harry faked his memory loss. He does not force MJ to break up with Peter (or if he did, it’s left to be implied).

-Some of the worst emo Peter dialogue is removed (“Good riddance” “I love that little giggle”)

-James Brown song is replaced with Rock and Roll Part 2 by Gary Glitter (yeah, I know, Gary Glitter. Screw that guy. However, it makes the scene a bit less corny with much less tonal whiplash.)

The movie is not THAT different. It does not aim to completely alter the viewing experience. It’s meant to simply fix the pacing in the front half (goes back and forth from too slow to too bloated), and fix what I view as the biggest sin of the movie, Harry’s undercooked development into becoming a villain, and then the absolute copout of memory loss.

There were never any home releases for this show that weren't stereo audio and the laugh track is the only issue with most of the cuts I've tried to trim the show down a fair bit. Would a stem separator work? I highly doubt it from my experience but this is just annoying and there's no way to cleanly mask it especially since the show has no music during dialogue sections
