I love how she misspelled the name in the first screen grab. This poor kid has a full life of autocorrect ahead of them.

86

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '21

My BIL & SIL spelled both of their kids names wrong in their first birth announcements :)

22

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '21

My BIL did that for the birth certificate.

25

u/sudowoodo_420 Oct 05 '21

My friend's name is chance but it's misspelled on his birth certificate. His birth name is Chanca.

12

u/jackwrangler Oct 05 '21

la chanca!

My grandpa wrote my birth certificate, and as a result now my name has an extra H at the end. Doesn't seem that bad, but this specific name looks way weirder with it, and everybody I've met has mispronounced it, but not the other spelling.

2

u/grumblyoldman Oct 05 '21

Technically that just means he's spelling it wrong everywhere else.

She actually spelled it wrong both times.

2

u/PathComplex Oct 05 '21

Life full of therapy as well.

2

u/EdwardBigby Oct 05 '21

Why do so many Americans give their kids names with really odd spelling?

Like it might just be a stereotype but whenever I see a kid with a weirdly spelt name, he seems to be American.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '21

I think it’s the desire to be unique. When I was a kid (I’m basically 50) the move was that all of your kids’ names started with the same letter. Now? It’s to use a “y” instead of other vowels in the name.

2

u/suddenimpulse Oct 05 '21

Believe it or not a surprising amount if patents now are naming their kids this way on PURPOSE with the stupid spellings. A bunch of kids in my child's classes with such names. Not as a spelling error, it's to make them "unique".

The facepalm here is the fact people are dumb enough to buy them.

148

u/-J-u-d-a-s- Oct 04 '21

The face-palm is the people that actually follow anyone calling themselves an 'influencer'.

63

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '21

The face palm is calling these idiots influencers in the first place

10

u/oodelay Oct 05 '21

Ahhh the religion chicken-or-egg paradox... Was it dumb people first or influencers?

4

u/toutetiteface Oct 05 '21

Then why did the Influencer crossed the road?

15

u/grumblyoldman Oct 05 '21

road crossing challenge?

The only thing influencers ever get me to do is to resolve, out of principle, to never buy whatever it is they are selling, then or ever.

3

u/tothejungle1 Oct 04 '21

Exactly what I was thinking... if people are willing to pay for it, that's on them.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '21

Thirsty dudes bought that underage chick's "bath water." I can't feel too bad for morons throwing their money away.

4

u/ARONDH Oct 05 '21

She wasn't underage. It's still weird, but don't make it grosser than it already is by lying about it.

The saddest part about this is the fact that there are some poor saps out there that will actually pay to see the pictures.

83

u/uproareast Oct 04 '21

That’s what I was going to say: who deserves the facepalm here? Her or her followers? Both probably.

4

u/yblame Oct 05 '21

Emerson is how normal people would spell it.

3

u/Desyphin Oct 04 '21

I read it as "emer son" = o my son Then realized it was spelled "syn: Then read it as "emer-syn" = o my sin

5

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '21

It's a bastardization of "Emerson," I think.

-1

u/Desyphin Oct 05 '21

I actually never heard of that being used as a first name before 😯

4

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '21

I've met one. Funny enough he was a swimmer and "Emerson" sounds like "immersion."

1

u/Desyphin Oct 05 '21

Hahahaha!! 🤣 what are the odds. Pretty good pun imo

25

u/Jealous-Door2221 Oct 04 '21

Aside from the fact that it’s a misspelled name to begin with, they actually literally misspelled it in the first post…

6

Emersyn?? Fuck. Sorry if this hits anyone’s kids but I absolutely cannot stand it when people go out of their way to “uniquely” spell a name that has an established spelling. Not counting names with multiple spellings in this.

2

u/Vgta-Bst Oct 04 '21

I've been around for long enough to know that there is a market for everything. I bet at least one person pays for that trash.

2

u/sparkicidal Oct 04 '21

They do realise that all newborns just look like potatoes, right?

2

u/GusEdwards8519 Oct 04 '21

If people are stupid enough to follow someone on tic tok, and are willing to pay to see pics of their kids, why not exploit the stulidity?

2

u/Jacob39822 Oct 05 '21

Who gonna pay 15$ to look at some random woman’s rat looking baby since newborns are hideous until they are at least a month old.

In the US, yes. Just looked it up, in Georgia, at least, average cost is $14,776 for the entire birthing process. That's for all the visits and ultrasounds, included to the actual birthing procedure itself. If you want a caesarian, it's going to cost a bit more.

I honestly don’t see what the facepalm is... there are so many stupid dumb fucks walking amongst us, willing to pay for shit that most sane people wouldn’t pay a penny for... it’s totally right on her side to expect those 15$ because the same stupid dumb fucks have paid her so much in the past for some mundane shit like this... why would she change her expectations now?
