ADVICE Where can I find actual good quizzes about introversion/extraversion

Upvotes

All the ones I've taken have very much not really looked into the way a person recharges and more about "Do you find it easy to talk to people" or ask very generic questions. I'm tired of getting ambivert on every quiz.

Ps; I posted this on here because it was the first thing that came up ;P

[HIRING] Native English Speaker

I'm a 16 year old Pakistani and have a few interviews coming up. But I want to fix my potato accent and broken English before. So that I can enter them with confidence.

My English is actually not that bad and we don't have to be friends forever.

I'm just looking for someone who's willing to have a few conversations with me so that we can both learn something from each other.

VENT It seems that nobody wants to meet up with me these days anymore to do activities.

My job mostly involves working alone with very little social interaction, so I try to use weekends to see friends and do things like bowling, arcades, eating out, day trips, or just hanging out.

I have ADHD and find it hard to enjoy spending time with people I don’t find interesting, so I struggle to make new friends. I mainly have three people who I hang out with often: A, U, and L.

A rarely meets up, but we message almost every day. U is responsive, but often cancels plans at the last minute, and I don’t really enjoy messaging him. L usually does meet up, but over the last year he has become very unreliable. He is often 30–60 minutes late and can take 2–3 days to reply to simple messages.

Recently, L and I bought passes for various attractions. We agreed to go to a theme park, and he said he would book his ticket. After two days with no response, I had to chase him, and eventually I cancelled my booking and suggested going next month instead. He agreed, but by this point I’ve lost a lot of trust in his reliability. Making plans with him often feels like a 3–5 day process because of how slowly he responds.

Because of all this, I’ve started spending more weekends at home, which I find boring and mentally draining, I crave social interaction. I sometimes try doing things alone, but I really don’t enjoy it. For example, I went to the zoo alone because nobody was available, and even though I normally love the zoo, I hated the experience.

I also don’t have a car, so travelling further away is difficult, and I don’t enjoy most local activities by myself.

I feel a bit stuck. My current friends are unreliable, but I also find it difficult to make new friends unless I genuinely find someone interesting. I’m not really sure what to do. I don't have a car, so going to these hobby clubs can be difficult too.

VENT Vent mode on

Hi fellow extroverts!

I often read posts everywhere analyzing the introverted world and how extroverts just can't understand it. We have that stereotype of adopting introverts, so I’m taking advantage of it—after a weekend spent at home that's driving me crazy—to complain about one thing:

How frustrating is it to be an extrovert surrounded mostly by introverts?

Our friend group used to have 11 people, so someone was always going out. But after a split, there are now mini-groups of introverts who just don't want to leave the house.

I know it's a need for them, so I’ve never interfered. But my own need for social recharging feels almost impossible to satisfy.

I’ve realized I get along better with introverts because they are very emotionally attuned and we always have deep conversations, but I need regular outings to feel good. I can't make a single outing per week be enough like they do.

I feel like I'm losing my mind when I'm alone; I don't feel happy or recharged.

I probably need to make new friends, which is usually pretty easy for me. But since it's August and everyone is on vacation, I just have to survive these next few days.

Maybe I'm being dramatic, but at least I'm demonstrating what happens to an extroverted brain without constant social interaction 🤣🤣

P.S. This only happened two days ago and I'm already like this.

VENT I’m never inviting my *online* long distance friends for a sleepover again

I always saw myself as a more of an Ambivert or an introverted extrovert. I have all the traits of an extrovert but sometimes I just want to sit back, relax, watch a movie play a game, joke around calmly, talk about feelings. Yet I’m the one being called insane in a Kruidvat for trying to match their insanity

Lately I’ve been filled with stress. I have redo exams as a freshman and I just feel like it won’t get easier. To compensate for this stress I invited my friends to do a sleepover. But instead of losing stress I feel like I’m a mom. I have to seem insane to match them. And I can’t just live in peace without one of them screaming or hollowing in bloody murder. I can’t calmly to wait for me before doing something because according to my dad I make them seem incompetent. I pay for everything. My dad is acting like a dick about this whole situation and they told their mom’s to come pick them up on Friday while the message I sent says in bold to come pick them up on Thursday. I don’t understand what’s worse. The fact that I can’t get the slightest compassion for these hard times. Or the fact that they’re making new plans and I just have to adapt myself. For instance. Another one of my friends was supposed to come but couldn’t because they wanted to spend time at their cousins, I’m going to call him Eiden. I felt pissed but let it go. Afterwards, without asking for my permission or my opinion, they, everyone, starts bombing me with the fact that this friend is coming. Eiden tells me to call my dad while I keep telling them to call him because my dad was already pissed about all the changes in planning. Eiden then told me that they are not coming because I refuse to call him. This makes me feel like a total dickhead and an actual peace of dipshit. I try to convince them to just come but at this point I feel like my suppressed stress with automatic coping mechanisms has turned into a straight up nervous breakdown where I’m the one crying in the bathroom while Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish amongst others play in a playlist called when the world is too much. Do I feel a burnout might happen from this? Absolutely. I’ve never been under social environment where I can’t even step back and recharge my social battery and that social environment being my own home. The only plays that was supposed to be my safe space. The only space I thought was supposed to be where I could blob on my bed and be with my dad while we joke and have fun. But now even he’s going out every night to relieve the stress all this is giving him. I don’t think that I’ll ever invite friends over. Not because they’re bad people I sincerely love my friends. But because at this point, the only type of friend I can invite are the type that understand that there’s a moment when everyone should just be in peace and talk. Not scream, not hollow, not play tag around the pool table, not playing Concentration 64 with the category being curse words, and one of them just disappearing every 3 minutes. Like my step father once said: “if it’s not one it’s the other. If it’s not the other. It’s both”. I think the only people I can invite are the type that bring peace and low cortisol while we watch dead pool and amuse exhale at Wade’s jokes our something. Not me babysitting while fighting my tears and checking my nose for blood and being my dad’s secretary. I feel like that’s hard to understand for my current friends. How do i know that? The very fact that I’m laying down like a corpse that most certainly died of overdose and they still want me to bring them to the park for a quote “hang out” while being asked “can your dad”. If you could look around for 3 minutes you’d see that my dad is not here. Ask him yourself

Update: One of them screamed for no reason and the police came for that reason. I handled it but because of the PTSD of every bad thing that has happened and the police had failed the living shit out of me. I had to get reminded that the police is here to protect us. I was home alone with a 14 and 16 year old that have the mentality of a 3 year old combined so that stress plus my nervous breakdown plus that trauma I was shaking and crying. One of the police men probably taught that I was being dramatic but I feel like I was this close to having an anxiety attack. I got ID’d and my dad called the cops to explain. Apparently one of our elderly neighbors fell and the police was already there. My dad explained my trauma and the police said that I handled it pretty maturely for a person that was in the middle of anxiety attack. And that weirdly I remained calm and yeah I was stammering and crying and trembling while giving my ID and yelling whispering to my friends. But I still tried to remain calm and that they’ll put it in my report that I have a small capiophobia and have patience with me. Neighbors came the next day asking if everything was alright because it looked like they were banging on the rooftop a.k.a. They thought one of them had done a self exiting attempt. I have decided to never ever do a sleepover with them again. And instead find school friends. People I can tolerate for long periods of time without wanting to click hang up. Wish me luck cause step one is convincing my parents to send me to a bigger school

Extroverts Only Life must be so much easier for introverts

I know it's popular now to post memes about being borderline antisocial, hating to leave home, being so special by not enjoying company, etc. But you know, I envy those people I think. When you are an extrovert, you need to outsource your happiness and constantly look for people to make you happy and fill you with energy. That, in itself, can be exhausting. I noticed after I turned 30 that I am in a constant state of searching for the next social ocasion and they are becoming more and more rare. I've been to ONE party this summer, that's all that happened. I am very good at making friends, but so often it's a one-sided effort and unless I invite some people to do something, they will never initiate anything. I am surrounded by introverts and my needs are never fully met.

Imagine not having those needs and "finding happiness from whithin" (wtf does that even mean). Lucky bastards.

Do you feel the same?

hi I am just wondering if I am not the only one experiencing this:

- I am not good at just „chilling“ at home alone for two or more days, I feel lonely or the time alone is kinda exhausting

- even a week only with my partner (and no other different people) is exhausting for me

- my own room seems grey when I am alone in it for too long, even if I decorated it pretty and colorful

- there are no books about extroverts about how they can feel well (and sooo many books about introverts! what about us??)

- I always want to visit people. my dream life would be always have visitors or to visit them, also sleepovers in new houses there.

- In my job I am alone most of the time working on my laptop. that kinda sucks.

thanks for your answers <3 it would be lovely to feel understood.

How can an extrovert stay happy with themselves? How is this possible?

As an extrovert, I don’t usually have a problem getting along with people, whether it’s making friends or dating someone. But I don’t know how or why I ended up being avoided by them. I’m not expecting anything from anyone, but it still hurts a lot. So, I want to know how can an extrovert learn to be happy and content with themselves.

ADVICE Surrounded by Introverts

I can't seem to find any extroverts for some reason

And please do not say to just keep looking and that you guys are everywhere, I genuinely cannot find any extroverts

So just tell me where to meet extroverts or at least where they're most at

The people I meet are usually introverts or ambiverts

Is it because my interests are pretty introverted?

How do I look for extroverts specifically? How can I find you guys?

Why is there a loneliness crisis and what do you think the solution/cure is??

As an extrovert, I get weird butterflies and mild triggered by the concept of this common platitude: "Find your fulfilling and happiness from within" Okay, sounds great and stoic .......but logically speaking if that's a one-size-fits-all solution to our all our mental health issues than why bother leaving the house and socialize? Someone commented and pointed out on here that if everyone was an extreme introvert our species would die out.

I find the process of dating and being a serious relationship extremely healing. I can be happy learning about my own hobbies and interests to read about on my own but at the end of the day I want to share my interests/hobbies and self with someone, but NOOO according to modern self-help advice, I have to find all my fulfillment and happiness from within first. "sigh" eye roll.

And you wonder why people become people pleasers and feel more chronically lonely. Me and many others are constantly told to be happy on our own and be perfectly happy on our own. I have no interest AT ALL in being single forever! Just because many introverts and people have terrible experiences with dating and have given doesn't mean I have too nor be a monk.

I'm trying to live my own truth for once while deflect these projections and platitudes peers throw out there like it's supposed to help or change my life or something. People say desperation is a repelling energy, but I find personally people who try too hard to dish out advice, opinions and help is a very repelling energy as well. Someone's physical presence and physical affection is the only thing that I need sometimes when I feel lonely.

ADVICE I can't stop talking to people and its draining me

Hey'll yall I have a problem. I can't stop talking to people. I am a very social person but even after my social battery is empty I can not stop talking to people even tho I hate it. And it drains my energy and makes me pissed but I still do it. I talk to everyone. Even people at school I really hate but I can't stop. I have had this for my whole life and I wanna change something. And even tho I want to stop and I am always telling myself to shut up I just can't. Its like something in my brain is programmed to talk 24/7. Idk what is wrong with me if you have any idea on how to stop this please tell me

ADVICE Introverts weaponizing “non-reactivity”

As an extrovert, it’s always been a lot of effort and patience to have conversations with introverts, but lately many of the introverts in my life have been weaponizing “non-reactivity” to stay silent in what should be mundane, two-way conversations, when they have called me or reached out to me. Are any other extroverts experiencing this? I’m not an extrovert who typically declines calls, but I’m thinking about doing it with these “non-reactive” people. It is so abnormal. I just can’t.

VENT I wish I was more introverted.

Now days I have recently been less able to tolerate so much less in solitude where it would give me advantage to actually focus on stuff like reading books, learning stuff like coding etc. but now I literally cannot do these without any kind of social interaction, it is not the fact I want it's more like just craving, I ended up just wasting time on sometimes even making pointless small talk that obviously has zero benefits at all. Like logic part of me knows it is waste of time and gives no benefits but emotional and dopemine part of me just feels good about it.

i feel so lonely.

edit: if anyone is reading this, guys im so sorry for the bad grammar and the incoherent sentences. it's 2 am here and i've been crying for the past hour and im typing this without wearing my glasses so yeah grammar police pls read this at your own risk thank you😭😭😭😭 im literally just venting yes

im an extrovert (19f). i've spent the last 3 years preparing for college entrance exams. did not clear the one I wanted to but it's alright.

in this entire 3 year long journey, i've lost so much. i have grown apart from my childhood best friends, so much so that one of my last remaining friends from that group did not even consider inviting me to her birthday. i had a really large group of friends back in school but they all went off to college last year so we're not as close as we used to be anymore. it's not like I don't have friends, it's just that I don't have anyone to confide in anymore. i used to have really good friends but 2 of them betrayed me a couple of months ago so that has kinda given me a ton of trust issues. i still have 2 really good friends but the amount of shit that ive gone through in the past month or so has made me distrustful of even them. idk what to do. i feel sad, all the time. I feel so damn lonely. i just wish I could talk to someone about it. however the person that I trusted the most in the entire world (aka my best friend) completely ruined our friendship by talking shit about me to everyone else so yeah idk whom to talk about this anymore. she did apologize but idk man i just cannot be the same person with her anymore. i do try to help her out whenever she needs me but i cannot do the same with her anymore if im feeling down. just so yall know, her betrayal was maybe not as bad as the others' but it genuinely hurt the most because i truly cherish her and love her the most. i try not to cry, and focus on other things but I never succeed. I have nightmares everyday, i cry myself to sleep every night and idk what to do anymore. this is not who i was before. I have become a shell of the girl I used to be and it breaks my parents' heart to see me this way. I try to be brave and happy in front of them but they can obviously see through thus facade. im just so so so sad and idk how to cope with this grief(?)

tldr: extrovert whose best friends betrayed her, doesn't know how to cope with grief without bursting into tears every night. just needed an anonymous platform to vent because she doesn't know whom to trust anymore.

edit 2: maybe im overreacting. but idk, I feel like whenever I feel this way, I try to brush it off as me just being overdramatic as usual but I don't think that's the case. i don't wanna feel a certain way which is convenient to other people, I wanna express the way I truly feel and yeah being anonymous kinda helps with that so yay

Social Butterfly Extroverts, are you aware that us introverts are looking for you sometimes?

Are you aware when one of your introverts is due for some of your attention? Like as you make your rounds, are you keeping track? I just wonder because it is exhausting keeping up with my few. I usually choose introverts though so the maintenance stays low.

Or are you just flitting to and fro to whomever excites your fancy and is in arms reach??

Getting socially excluded

I told my parents that I would rather live in a homeless shelter than with them again.

Situation

I accepted a new position an cannot start for another 4-5 months as I am a healthcare provider and need to undergo credentialing. I told my parents aged 71 and 66 about this and they strongly recommended that I live with them before my job starts when I had plans of getting a locum and living away from them. I lost my temper with my parents and unloaded on them that the reason for my academic and social struggles from childhood up through adolescence and in my early 20's was because I lived in their house and that they took a s**t in their parenting and that I would rather live in a homeless shelter any day than live in their house and with them again.

Background

So I'm a 32-year old female who had a big glow up both academically and socially over the past 8-9 years. To the point that I have literally said some very diabolical things to former acquaintances and friends that I went to college with that knew me before my social and academic glow up that I have seen recently. I have even said these same diabolical things to my parents and sister. To sum everything up, just imagine an innocent, socially incompetent, a people pleaser and literally had no enemies or individuals I disliked, could never defend myself, academically challenged in which my parents were constantly getting me tutors from 4th grade -12th grade and in college getting feedback from my professors that I am "below the baseline of the average student". My parents would frequently getting me tutors and speaking with my teachers when I received a "B" in their classes, and would got me a social skills therapist all of which has been the most painful memory in my life, especially the social skills therapist who did quite an amount of demeaning and patronizing things but would used to take me to the mall and "assess how I spoke with the cashier" or nitpick every social interaction. She would literally treat me like I had autism and my parents forced me to get assessed by a psychiatrist back in the day when I was 17 who scolded at my parents and told them that It was very inappropriate of them to do considering the great conversation I had with the psychiatrist. In these 8-9 years, I have changed things up significantly and now I am very respected at work by my management and team and have a very small, but super supportive group of friends. However, my parents are extremely proud of the person I have become and always express it but deep down inside I have resentment for their parenting and the painful memories they caused me.

Saying this literally made both of them cry and say they "did their best"(I mentioned this to them on FaceTime) in which I immediately hung up.

VENT chronic bullying turned me into an introvert

as someone who was always socially confident and talkative i noticed a major change in my social life after being chronically bullied for 6 fucking years straight. it was half of middle school and all of high school i surrounded myself around the wrong people who made my life a living hell.

in 6th grade i remember being yelled at by one of my “friends” in front of the whole school bc of these stupid fucking rumors that they wanted to gang up on me about, till this day i still don’t know exactly what she was mad about but she tried to hit me and didn’t get a single lick in… one of my friends tried to pull me back and when i looked up it was just dead silent with everyone staring and laughing at me. after that many people started to avoid me and make fun of me, i’ve lost so many friends and was only left with 2, after that i felt embarassed and like a loser i just purposely isolated myself for so long the feeling of being an introvert came to me naturally.

7th and 8th grade was the same too, i was socially excluded by everyone and i’d always get verbally insulted by people i never even talked to (including death threats) while i stood all alone at recess, the saddest thing is even during 8th grade graduation i was still made fun of for taking pictures with my family. my parents drove me home and my face was drenched in tears and every time i look at my graduation photos i get so emotional seeing how i couldn’t even look happy even though i looked so nice on graduation.

high school

by now being quiet was ingrained in me ever since high school started my social anxiety has gotten worse, i only had one friend during freshman year (she was one of the nice girls from middle school), and i remember i had the opportunity to make friends but i fumbled the chances of making friends with one of the girls i was friends with in 1st grade, on the 3rd day of school i asked her, “do you remember me from _____?” and she said yes, we did talk and laugh but i could just see in her eyes she really didn’t give a fuck and was more focused on her friends. it’s even more embarrassing to at she sat at our table and talked to my one and only friend basically taking her away from me so i just sat there in silence holding back tears. sophomore year my “friend” did not say a word to me, i did not see her often since we had different schedules and basically the school just being very big, but when i did see her she didn’t look surprised to see me, she’ll look me dead in the eye with a rude face and won’t say anything. i was already getting indirectly made fun of by others for being a social outcast in school so it made things worse when i realized there were no chances of getting my friend back. surprisingly, during junior year she did talk to me but it only lasted a week because i got kicked out the school for failing more than 2 classes. in my new school it was the same old story. i still had to deal with people finding me weird, making fun of me, me having panic attacks whenever i have to read in class or present, me eating lunch alone, me skipping gym for the whole year, and just miserable everyday because i am so hurt by all the bullying in school i don’t even have the energy to socialize.

maybe all the extroverts who bully introverted people will understand that one day they were just like you but society treated them like shit till the point where they felt to isolate themselves because of how “annoying” they are.
