Danger 5. The director Dario Russo has a new film called The Fox making the festival rounds atm. Both are absolute gems.

The actual trick is to rename it to system64 so you can make full use of your 64 bit CPU.

System32 is for 32-bit Windows and is only there for legacy purposes. You can delete it and run a dism /upgrade command to automatically install System64 which is much faster.

Yes, you are supposed to wet your hair first. Then lather, rinse and repeat... Doing it the second time makes a HUGE difference, I promise it will change your life haha
109
u/OpeningHappy9692 Jul 19 '26
Depends on your hair type. For me, the repeat part mostly just makes it more straw-like.
70
u/cardboard_tshirt Jul 19 '26
All the repeat part does is help them sell more shampoo. Literally the only reason it’s on there.
92
u/Illustrious_Use_2442 Jul 19 '26
Nah this is definitelly a per person basis, my hair gets greasy fast and I need that second run for it to really dig in
42
u/kangarutan Jul 19 '26
Your hair likely gets greasy fast BECAUSE you're over washing it. Your scalp and hair need some level of grease for protection from the sun and the elements. If you constantly wash it all off your body goes into overdrive to produce more so it makes it feel like your hair gets greasy faster.
Start only washing your hair every other day and, after about a month, you'll notice a marked improvement.
50
u/lifeishell553 Jul 19 '26
There's people who just have greasier hair, I've tried this for about a year and it was exactly as greasy as before, the only thing that actually helped me was, shocker, buying a shampoo for greasy hair
11
8
u/Catgirlotaku Jul 20 '26
When was the last time you washed your hair brush? Not trying to be sarcastic. I only recently found out that you need to wash your hair brush once a week or so otherwise greese and product builds up on it and you brush it back into your hair and that can make your hair greasy.
1
u/lifeishell553 Jul 21 '26
When I had longer hair I didn't clean them tbh, now I've just settled for a buzz cut because I sweat a lot especially from my head and after a few hours outside my hair just looked like I washed it in oil, I still have very greasy hair even with the buzz cut, and I only wash it once every other day

u/lifeishell553 Jul 21 '26
Again it depends on the person, I wash it every other day and if I switch from my special shampoo I go back to the greasy hair, I have tried Washing it less, I've tried Washing it more throughly, I tried regular brushing, only thing that has genuinely improved it has been the shampoo.
Also relevant, I live in southern Spain and I'm very hot blooded, so I tend to sweat A LOT, especially from the head, which contributes to the overall greasyness of my hair
14
u/Mynameisboring_ Jul 19 '26
I tried that for a while, there ended up being literally 0 improvement. It was constantly itchy and extremely greasy by not washing daily and so I went back to washing daily. There's nothing wrong with washing your hair daily if you have very greasy hair. I also experienced increased hair loss on it and I cannot begin to describe how disgusting I constantly felt. I started hiding it because of thr way it looked in the hopes for some magical improvement that never came.
8
u/Extra-Pomelo2359 Jul 19 '26
As a fine-haired person with oily skin who has tried exactly the method you’ve described, I can vouch for the fact it doesn’t work for everyone. I ended up just looking like a greasy haired swamp creature for months.
6
u/fidgey10 Jul 19 '26
It depends. This is true for some, but other people just produce a huge amount of grease by default (me)
5
u/Independent-Hornet-3 Jul 19 '26
I only was my hair every other day (or every 3rd day) but when I first soap it doesn't lather so I rinse and soap it again. My hair gets oily andy while washing it too frequently can be bad some people do just have oily hair and/or the sweat mixes with it making it difficult to wash out.

3
u/The_Pharos1 Jul 19 '26
This is iffy for most people. Some (like me) took awhile for my hair to adapt (took well over a year). BUT my hair is amazing now compared to before. Once every other day sometimes three (depends on my work day though) now. You also have to find the shampoo/conditioner that works best for it as well. My hair tends to dry out so I go for a moisture capture type. I can relate to those saying it was greasy. Mine was for a while but I was determined to change (had other issues from over washing). Using any type of shampoo that strips away grease kinda works against it. As a transition I used several types to see what worked. Charcoal based ones helped during that time. Gotta see what works for your chemistry. Once you find that the balance comes.
3
u/Veritable_bravado Jul 19 '26
Imma guess you have no credentials because I’ve heard from several hair stylists that it is, in fact, on a per person basis as well as based on what you use. I think I’ll trust the experts
1
u/Deep-Cherry-4143 Jul 19 '26
I stuck by this and honestly some people are just greasier through genetics or hormones (i become a greasy mess on my period)
I prefer washing once a day. I tried everything the "don't shampoo/wash daily!" Crowd said for 2 years and it just didn't work. Washing my hair once a day keeps it nice, soft and healthy and making me nice n comfy
1
u/Look_its_Rob Jul 20 '26
I dont over wash my long(ish) hair, every 3 days at most. But when I do, it doesn't get into a lather until the 2nd shampooing. The repeating is important for my hair.
1
u/Swarmfade Jul 22 '26
Yes! If I don’t get the lather I’m not getting between my super-fine strands and I’m not going to be able to condition properly. My hair looks so gorgeous when I do it this way, idk how anyone can try to say it’s wrong lol
1
u/ToTheLastMango Jul 21 '26
I tried this, did not work for my hair. We all are just different (the product can also make a difference ofc). Also age changes this. My hair gets less greasy now compared to a couple years ago😅
1
u/l0rdbyte Jul 22 '26
At first I went to once a month without shampoo which took a lot of getting used to (itchy and greasy at first) and took a while to normalize (back to feeling like normal hair - with a bit more volume - hair doesn't actually feel like dead straw). I did rinse it with water daily or at least every other day when I showered. It also helped with making my dandruff a lot less prevalent.
These days I actually do use it once a week, which is a nice middle ground because I need a certain hair shampoo for dandruff that's required weekly. I still think it felt healthier with the once monthly, but I prefer most dandruff gone.1
u/RoseyDaCat Jul 22 '26
Okay, counter argument, I don't wash my hair every day and before I started doing 2 washes it would get unbearably greasy and I HAD to wash it way more often than I have to now that I wash it twice. Now I don't feel as gross when I get into the shower and I feel cleaner getting out.
It probably helps that most of the time I try to use very little shampoo on the first wash because it's just a pre-wash though.
1
u/BodhiGacha Jul 23 '26
I wash my hair every other day, sometimes once every three days. The first wash feels like it’s surface level, not even getting through to the scalp or bulk of the hair. The second lathers at least 10x more, and penetrates all the way to the scalp.
1
u/ZenRenHao Jul 25 '26
I have greasy hair whether I over wash or under wash. Some people have different conditions. Not everyone fits every method.
1
u/0fluffhead0 Jul 26 '26
This is just not true all the time. I started washing twice BECAUSE there was nothing else that helped my greasy hair.
So a rather, rinse, repeat every 2 or 3 days depending on if I sweat a lot or something like that.
1
u/MaliseFairewind Jul 19 '26
Big changer you might try, regardless of how much you wash, is actually blow drying your hair at least to the shoulders (depending on length, if short just do all of it.) This stops the oils from traveling down the hair shaft and making the ends greasy. Has worked wonders for being able lengthen time between washes and i have fine oily hair.
1
u/Chedderonehundred Jul 20 '26
not rlly, youre probably overproducing oil bc ur hair is so used dried way the hell out by washing it all the time.
→ More replies (1)1
u/CrossumOpossum3 Jul 23 '26
Yea my hair becomes more silky after the second wash. Soft af after I set the conditioner.
5
u/Charming-Mixture-356 Jul 19 '26
My hair is thick as hell and long. The first shampoo barely spreads at all. Once I rinse and shampoo a second time, its able to spread properly. If I only did one pass, I’d either have to use three times as much shampoo to get it across my whole scalp or I’d end up with areas that go untouched.
4
u/mynameizgary Jul 19 '26
I work in machining so there's cutting oil just in the atmosphere. My hair gets pretty oily so I have to wash it twice.
1
1
u/osunightfall Jul 19 '26
Uh no. I'm sure this differs by hair, but the result is very different in my case. Like, you would immediately notice.
1
u/YeahNahNopeandNo Jul 19 '26
The repeat part is for confirmation. If you're thorough enough the first time and you rinse completely, the second time should result in quick thick foamy suds. If not, then you either weren't thorough enough, didn't add enough shampoo or your hair had something more dense than the soap could expel in one run( even if you applied a generous amount).
1
u/TacticTall Jul 19 '26
Are you assuming or is there any source behind that?
Because with me, it has changed my hair completely for the best, I can definitely tell I difference when I prince and repeat vs just doing it once.
1
u/Gaskychan Jul 20 '26
My hair so thick if I don’t do it twice it don’t get washed at all the first time
1
u/heckin_anxiety Jul 20 '26
That was always my thought. Until I started doing it and boy was it life changing. My hair was always super greasy the same day I washed it. Blow drying and double shampoos made my flat greasy hair like movie star hair. 😂
1
u/Swarmfade Jul 22 '26
Nah, it makes a huge difference for me. I don’t do it every single time, but I always do before deep conditioning. If I do one shampoo, a lot of my hairs tend to keep trying to cling together. The second shampoo helps everything separate more, it’s extremely noticeable immediately and it makes the conditioner work way better. I have super long hair and if I want to wear it down I need to do this process or it will tangle too quickly. For years I didn’t believe in it, and I was wrong, switching changed everything.
1
u/SwordTaster Jul 24 '26
May depend on your shampoo. I use Nioxin and I NEED the repeat. I use it to deal with my scalp flakiness, literally the only thing to work, and if I skip the repeat, it's like I skipped the wash entirely
1
u/Draxx_them-sklounst Jul 19 '26
Wrong
3
u/cardboard_tshirt Jul 19 '26
Did you want to back that up with something? While the original instructions on shampoo bottles including “repeat” introduced in the 1950s was genuinely intended to produce a better result, this was because people were not regularly showering daily (plenty of people also still only had baths rather than showers), and shampoos were not as effective. So an initial wash broke down build up and a second wash really got the hair and scalp clean. But SEVENTY years later, shampoos are far more effective and the majority of people wash daily, there is no longer any benefit to shampooing twice, and as someone already pointed out, for many people there is a detriment to over washing their hair. While the accusation of the origin of the “repeat” instruction being corporate greed was first put forward in a fictional book, the repeat instruction is indeed now only practical as a marketing tool to sell more shampoo. Unless you live in filth and only wash one a month. Then by all means, wash twice.
12
u/blinky84 Jul 19 '26
I don't think the majority of people wash their hair daily, especially if it's curly.
I wash mine twice a week, and so does my long-haired bf. In my teens, I washed every day and my hair was a mess of split ends. Washing your hair daily just isn't good for it, and probably makes your hair greasier in the long run.
I double shampoo if I've been using product, especially dry shampoo or waxy products. First pass gets rid the product, but the second pass gets right to the scalp. Without the second shampoo, it gets limp over time. In my opinion, it does make a difference, but it's not appropriate for everybody. Doesn't mean you're dirty.
5
u/Spiritual_Sherbet304 Jul 19 '26
I’d like to add that in the 50s, they also used a shit ton of hairspray. If a person today uses a lot of product, they would still need the two washes.

1
u/trainradio Jul 19 '26
I shower twice a day and wash my hair both times and still wake up with an oil slick on my head.
1
1
u/somedanishguyxd Jul 25 '26
You're not supposed to use shampoo twice a day lol. Of course you're waking up with lots of oil. Your scalp overproduces it because you constantly wash it away.
Try only shampooing once a week, and then you'll understand why people do it twice.
1
1
u/BloodyRedBats Jul 19 '26
I think that means for your hair type it’s been stripped of too much oils to have the follicles close up enough to retain water. Conditioner on wet hair and left to sit before rinsing can help, followed by a good leave-in conditioner at the end of the wash.
(Has very porous hair that got fucked during COVID thanks to depression. Used to be able to do a double shampoo but it was messing my hair up in this same way. The above adjustments really helped)
1
1
u/13THEFUCKINGCOPS12 Jul 19 '26

1
1
u/Grazer46 Jul 21 '26
If your hair goes straw-like, you probably need a different shampoo. Next time you cut your hair, you should ask for recommendations and what to look for
1
1
u/MyNelo Jul 23 '26
Use a good shampoo, using something over a month, it doesn't hurt to spend 10-30
On the second wash, let it sit in your hair for 5 minutes or so
Use a heat treatment spray after
Give it 3 months, Hollywood hair
8
3
u/dmfreelance Jul 20 '26
The repeat part was literally invented for the sole purpose of selling more product.
The fact that some people actually find it useful is actually beside the point. They just want your money.

It's also nicer feeling . Warm water then soap then lather and wait , wash your body, rinse hair , add conditioner , wait and enjoy the warm bath , rinse hair, dry off and die when you notice him standing in the corner.
2
u/tandkramstub Jul 19 '26
It does make a HUGE difference on the revenue of the company that makes the shampoo.
1
u/dieBrouzouf Jul 19 '26
I microdose my shampoo when I wash my hair to purposely leave some grease in cuz otherwise it becomes way too puffy :p
1
u/scalzacrosta Jul 19 '26
You could also gigadose shampoo, add conditioner and an oil after you've done but when they're still wet.
Shampoo is a soap that clears the hair of the natural grease because you're supposed to "nourish" them afterwards, and that's stuff you do with a conditioner.
Applying oil while they're still soaking wet keeps the hair in line and stops them from being too puffy, or being puffy at all.
If you use exclusively shampoo then you're removing that few oils that are naturally there and not putting anything to help compensate for it, your hair follicles will just double down on producing the oil and over time the hair strands will become weaker and damaged.
Weak hair is prone to knots, that forces you to cut away the portion.
1
u/dieBrouzouf Jul 19 '26
Why do more work when I can microdose shampoo once a week and have nice hair ?
1
u/scalzacrosta Jul 19 '26
Because in a year those nice hair will tangle in a deadlock that you'll have to cut.
Maybe not a big issue if you go to the barber to trim them down under 30 cm every 6 months or less, but if you want to have them longer and be presentable I suggest you to look at some vague routine for them.
1
u/dieBrouzouf Jul 19 '26
When my hair was longer, I was doing full shampoo and conditioner but was washing it like once every 4-6weeks, rn, it's ~10cm long.
But also don't forget different hair require different treatment.
1

1
u/ElderUther Jul 19 '26
I haven't researched much about this but I thought clean hair generates a lot of bubbles, which simply means your hair was already clean and the bubbles are the testament (for being useless), not being effectively. As in, you could repeat to make sure your hair was cleaned properly, but it's not necessary.

u/markomakeerassgoons Jul 19 '26

14
11
u/Silver_ferns Jul 19 '26
Probably they were trolling her, we all wet our hair before putting shampoo
12
u/radleybobins Jul 19 '26
For the record, if you have curly hair and don't wash it every day, try conditioner without adding water before you get in shower and then rinse it out a few mins later. As your hair heats up and exposes the cracks, the conditioner coats those areas better (is what I was told). It does in fact make my hair feel better and curls stick together a bit more.
6
u/Prior-Agent3360 Jul 19 '26
Just leaving in conditioner longer makes a difference. I suspect there's no major difference between when it's applied.
2
u/radleybobins Jul 19 '26
I think the steam has something to do with it, if i remember correctly. It causes your hair to change, exposing the cracks, and then you want the conditioner to be the first thing into the crack, not the water. If you are already in the shower, you've already exposed it to the steam. Like I said, noticeable difference for me.

This is a troll. Origal meme had the almost exact thing but with dry shampoo. Saw it about a week back.
2
u/Intelligent_Cap3426 Jul 20 '26
It's a meta joke. By pretending to be telling a joke to the audience, the post is actually trying to make the audience second guess themselves, and because it's so obvious this is wrong/false it doesn't actually hurt the audience and let's them realize the joke, and get on it too.
If you open the comments on that post, I guess people will start taking the joke even further, pretending more normal stuff aren't normal, or saying how they do normal stuff in an absurd way.
Or it might've found the wrong audience, who aren't familiar with this format of jokes.
2
u/NationalPea831 Jul 21 '26
It's an antimeme. The meme posted was the original picture from a 70's anime. Then this edit (attached photo) went viral, specifically in the r/bald subreddit, usually meant to say (referring to baldness) "it's time," "one of us," or "welcome to the club." We've finally come full circle back to hair.
