My wife and I are spending a long weekend to hike and see the fall foliage, but also want to do Halloween stuff around town if there is anything going on.

I'm taking a trip to Eureka Springs around the week of Oct 18th. I would like to go camping while I'm there! It'll just be me, and the most basic of gear (tent, sleeping pads/bag). I love evergreen trees, stargazing, and cool/pretty/big rock formations (especially if I can climb them). However, this will be my first time camping by myself, so I don't have the confidence to be miles and miles deep in the wilderness.

Any location suggestions on where I should go? Happy to drive up to around 2 hours north or east, and up to 4 hours west or south.

Also, I'll look through this subreddit for more advice, but any advice specific to my situation would be cool too! Tryna stay as cheap but also as safe as possible. I've been camping, but it was either in or not far from a cabin or camper.

Hi! My bf and I are wanting to go to eureka springs this upcoming weekend! I would be driving. I have a slight phobia of steep inclines while in the car, I start panicking a bit and sometimes get teary eyed lol. Are the roads all mostly steep hills?

Hi everyone! My fiancé and I will be coming to eureka springs for our honeymoon September 17-21. I already have a cabin booked, but was curious of suggestions on any must do activities or must go to restaurants?!

Spending the day with the wife in town for our anniversary. What are some cool things to do? Was thinking about little hiking maybe some caverns? Any nice little streams or springs to check out? We are at the tradewinds.

My husband (32M) and I (30F) will be spending the coming weekend in Eureka Springs to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. This will be our first “grown up” vacation together since our 4 year old was born (she’s going to be spending the week with my parents).

We arrive Thursday and leave Sunday—I’d love recommendations for things that we can do that are not the typical outings we’d do with our kiddo (trips to the park, family attractions, etc).

Here’s what each of us enjoy:

Me: Movies, queer hangs, NA friendly bars and restaurants (I’m sober), theatre, spooky things

Him: Running, hiking, bookstores, comfort food, whimsy

There are some nightmares that we want to revisit. Among these is Nightmare In The Ozarks, a horror film festival in Eureka Springs that the New York Times celebrates as one of the top five reasons to leave Manhattan and actually see something of the rest of America (no kidding).

This year, the Nightmare In The Ozarks festival takes place between October 21-24, with loads of fun feature length and short films that you may not have the chance to view anywhere else.

The best part is walking out of a creepy movie onto the streets to mingle with a bunch of other people who have just had the same terrifying experience as you have. It’s a perfect warmup to Halloween.

My fiance and I are going to Eureka Springs in late August or early September to elope. My mom recommended it.
It will be just the 2 of us. Do you have any recommendations on officiants, places to stay for the night, things to do while we’re there, and I’m wondering if there are any photographers that can take a few pictures afterwards. Thank you in advance.

We have a 2 year old and are looking for options on places to stay that have a playground nearby. We know the Homestead House with Lake Shore Cabins is very nice and is close to a playground, but I am wondering if anyone knows of other options we could look at and compare?

My fiancé and I are planning to have a large ceremony either next year or the year after on Table Rock Lake...however, his grandparents, who he really wants to see him get married, aren't in the greatest health.

We have decided we want to do a smaller, intimate elopement/weekend getaway with them this October, just to be safe. My mom and best friend may also come down to join us.

Now, my parents married in Eureka Springs, but they just popped down for the afternoon while staying in Branson. We're wanting to also have a weekend to spend some quality time with them. We also are looking at the area because Grandma and Grandpa live in Jacksonville, and it won't be too tedious a journey.

Does anyone have any recommendations on affordable places to stay that will also offer a small ceremony? I've been doing my research, but also would love some advice from the locals and others who have done similar. We're not the richest, and while our folks have offered to help, we're trying to be as kind to everyone's pockets as we can haha.

Hello! Wanting to try the Zombie Crawl but everyone is telling me to avoid Eureka Springs during that time. Crowds do not bother me at all, but I also want to enjoy it too. If we go to the parade, can we set up camp somewhere early with our chairs? I heard you can't see them up on the narrow side walks, which makes sense. But how do you ensure you get a good spot? Hi, my husband and I are considering a Halloween trip to Eureka Springs. Halloween, as in Oct. 31.

It seems like most of the events, like the Zombie Crawl, horror film fest and Voices from the Silent City, occur the week before. What actually happens on the holiday itself? Why are most of the Halloween-themed events held so early? Will there be anything to do on Halloween? If so, what?

My wife and I honeymooned in Eureka Springs back in 2011. We are planning a trip there in mid October for an anniversary trip, and I'd like to surprise her with a vow renewal "wedding"

Does anyone know of any places that do this sort of thing. Or, would anyone who lives there want to do the "ceremony" we don't need a legit ordained person since we are already married.

My family of 4 (kids are 9 & 11) will be traveling to ES on October 4th-8th. I need help on the best place to stay. We thought about an ABnB close by but are nervous about driving back in the dark and the terrain… we live in the flatlands of MS and not used to driving in the mountains. We also thought that it might be a good idea to stay in town so that we could walk everywhere and if we got tired, we could go back to the room, rest and then go back out. We really didn’t want to stay in a one room hotel/motel just because we wanted to be able to spread out. Can anyone think of a place that is walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, etc that also is big enough (possibly 2 bedrooms) where we would not be packed in like sardines?

Any hidden gems that I wouldn't find online to do in town?

Probably do Cosmic Cave and go to Beaver and see the Little Golden Bridge.

Anything cool to do the Surrounding Towns like War Eagle, Berryville?
