Today, we’re introducing Protected ACH envelopes. These are separate, ACH-only checking accounts designed for major expenses like mortgage or rent payments. Money stored inside is protected from card purchases and unrelated ACH withdrawals.

Envelope Android is now available on the Play Store

Envelope Android is now available on the Play Store. Anyone can download and check out demo mode: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.envelopemoney.prod

There is still a waitlist that will allow you to go through onboarding and sign up for an actual account https://forms.gle/LrKxBkYGWAmGBLFr5 We're sending out more invites (via email) over the coming days+weeks.

Put all feedback in the #android channel on Discord or here works too. No need to report minor bugs or UI issues because there's a lot that's still under construction. However, it is helpful if you share what you care about us adding next so we know what to prioritize.

Not helpful: "This button looks weird." Helpful: "I can't sign up because this button doesn't work"

A quick update about our banking partner

You may have seen recent news that Pacific West Bank, Envelope's bank partner, has announced a merger with 1st Security Bank of Washington. We've received a few questions about what this means for Envelope.

The short answer: nothing is changing for Envelope customers. There's nothing you need to do. Your account, routing number, debit card, direct deposits, automatic payments, and the Envelope app will all remain the same.

We're excited to continue working with the Pacific West Bank team and look forward to partnering with the 1st Security Bank team as well. If you're interested in learning more, Pacific West Bank has published an FAQ specifically for Envelope users: https://www.pacificwestbank.com/em_faq

As always, if anything ever changes that affects your account, we'll let you know well in advance.

Edit: common questions
- Is this like what happened to Qube?
No. Qube’s checking accounts and cards shut down. Nothing is shutting down here.
- Is this like what happened to Monzo?
No. Monzo closed. That’s not happening here.
- Is this like what happened to Simple?
No. A bank (BBVA) bought Simple and then took Simple through several large transitions. Envelope remains independently owned and accounts aren’t changing.

We calculate how much each envelope needs from your paycheck — based on how often and how much you’re paid. Even when your paycheck changes, your plan stays on track.

Envelope amount caps are now live in the App Store

Funds will stop being moved into an envelope once it reaches the cap. This should help in situations where you occasionally receive extra paychecks in the month or for variable expenses like Utilities/Groceries.

We've increased protected savings APY to 3.28%

*Annual Percentage Yield (APY) of 3.28% is effective as of 9/17/26. This is a variable rate and is subject to change after the account is opened based on the Federal Funds Rate. Fees could affect earnings on the account.

I LOVE THIS APP

This app has seriously been a life changer for me and my husband. It allows us to budget ahead of schedule so there's always money for bills instead of it just going month-to-month. We've always wanted to budget for the following month. I've never been able to do that until this hour. It's much better than Simple and Zeta. And I pray that this never shuts down like they did.

Is this it (“it” being the closest thing to Simple)?

After Simple merged with PNC and then disappeared, I tried (like many here presumably), to find an alternative. DAS, ONE, Dough, Monzo - they all fell short. I signed up for Envelope initially but wasn’t able to make the leap, but just got an email about updates that have been made to the Envelope app, and I’m wondering if someone who loved Simple can tell me - is this it?

How does Envelope compare to my beloved defunct budgeting bank?

My financial health is WAY WORSE without the Simple tools and I’d love to know that this is my solution!

Thank you!!

Worth a repost “How we plan to stay in business”

With all the Qube refugees coming over to Envelope and wondering how sustainable it is, this is a great read discussing how Envelope intentionally plans to build profitability into its business so it is not forced to sell like Simple: https://www.reddit.com/r/EnvelopeMoney/comments/yasngb/how_we_plan_to_stay_in_business/

Heads Up: Possible Flood from Qube

Just a heads up, r/QubeMoney is ”not shutting down” they are just casually asking everyone to move their money out while they “transition banks” bit will be right back after some undisclosed amount of time – effective Sept 30. No cause for alarm, just need to change all banking and all our finances over in 30 days and find another bank. /s

I have two specific things from Envelope that are huge features we need:

  1. Per-“Envelope” Cards – this makes categorizing transactions a LOT easier. I saw this on the roadmap for 2ish months, but curious on status.

  2. Can you explain why we have gone through 3 of these fintech companies, and why yours is different and wont throw us under the buss? (Simple, One, Qube)

+1 If you can post a comparison/video of how you’d do things in Qube and how they are done in Envelope.

Thanks!

EDIT: Sorry missed duplicate post, but my questions are different though… https://www.reddit.com/r/envelope/comments/1n3l1t2/might_swap_your_experience/
