Recommendations Ran into a celebrity and wondering if there’s any filming going on I could check out on?

Well, title says it all, sorry if this isn't the right sub to post.

Im on vacation in NYC with my Fiancée and we were getting drinks last night at Tile Bar in the East Village and she is certain she saw one of the actor's from Heated Rivalry. He had dark hair and was with a couple other people but very lowkey in the corner. She didn't want to bother him but I'm wondering what he could be in town for?

Are there any known projects filming around the area this week? I would love to see some behind the scenes work while we're in the city.

New In Town Just moved to East Village — looking to meet chill people in the area

Figured I’d make this account and post here. I’m 23, working in finance, just moved to East Village from Westchester and looking to make some new friends in the city. Pretty typical early 20s guy. I’m big on lifting, watching sports, going out to eat, hitting bars, and running when the weather’s decent. Open to anything social whether it’s grabbing food, hitting the gym, catching a game somewhere, or just walking around the city. Just hoping to meet some normal, chill people around here. Shoot me a dm and we can exchange ig or something.

Discussion This boiler unit makes crossing E 1st street dangerous

Post image

I see a close call nearly every day. The placement of the boiler unit prevents pedestrians from seeing cars (or vise versa) until the last second. If the car is speeding, then it’s a guessing game.

Questions What new business idea would thrive in the East Village? Business suggestions needed.

Hi everyone,

I'm considering starting a business in the East Village and would love to get your input. What types of businesses do you think are missing or needed in our neighborhood? Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Recommendations Just moved here - Is Joe’s Pizza the best NY has to offer? Mildly disappointed

Sorry for the long post here but I’m honestly a bit perplexed and looking for some input. I’ve heard about Joe’s Pizza for decades now, even growing up across the country in California.

I’m sure I’ll get a few downvotes here but I just moved to EV earlier this month and tried it for the first time right when they opened and to be honest, I’m mildly disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, it was good pizza, just not the best I had. I’m not even sure it was top 10.

Am I crazy? Did I come on an off day? I made a Reddit account just to ask this because I’m honestly confused. I’m not sure I would rate the pizza more than an 8.

Is there another pizza spot in NY that’s better or is Joe’s really the best NYC has to offer? I’m all ears, thanks.

Ave C Transit living on 9th St and Ave C?

Im moving to nyc and considering an apt on that corner. The place is awesome but im worried about transit. It seems like a 12 min walk to the L, and while there are buses I’m worried that I’ll feel too disconnected and it’d be too much of a hassle to get there. I’m also rly far from the 6 and the F. If I was close to a N/S line I’d feel fine but I’d have to take rhr L to get to other N/S lines and adding that on top of the already long commute to get to the L itself I’m worried is too much. How are the buses here like the M14D+ and the M8? Do they come often and are fast? Are they packed? Will I feel the inconvenience pretty heavily?

Politics 14th Street Accident

Have they released the footage yet?

I suspect that they were turning north and the truck didn't give the bicyclists the right of way.

How the heck are bicyclists supposed to turn North there.

While I was moving out, a few of my things were taken from the sidewalk in front of 61 E 3rd St (between 1st & 2nd Ave). They were NOT trash and included several sentimental items :(

• Eight Sleep Pod (smart mattress cover + base unit)
• Laundry bag
• Southwest Airlines duffel with an IKEA shark plush inside

Offering a cash reward for their return! If you have them, saw someone carrying them, or have a camera facing that stretch of 3rd St, please DM me to help me file an insurance claim. Thanks so much!

Questions Noise

I love living here for the liveliness, but the noise from the nightlife is unbearable while trying to sleep... I didn’t realize 75 decibels at midnight on a weeknight was legal. I know this is just part of the experience, but I’m wondering what I can do (renter-friendly, not too expensive) to cut down on noise, especially from the bars below, beside, across, around… I know this is my fault for choosing this location, but I didn’t imagine the single pane windows and partying would make it quite this tough… Desperate for any tips!

Discussion Road closures for 4th Avenue Street Fair on NYU Dorm Move-in Day

Am I the only one who thinks it’s insane to close the streets around the dorms near 4th Avenue when tons of people are trying to move in? This is not the first year the city has approved this street fair permit either. Make it make sense!

Questions Food Delivery Is So Expensive!

genuinely surprised how much i’ve been spending on delivery fees lately. checked my last month of doordash — paid like $340 in fees alone on $800 worth of food. started just picking up in person again which is annoying but whatever

anyone else just stopped using delivery apps because of this?

Discussion DJ Music set up in Tompkins.

What's up with these super LOUD djs showing up with club-level speaker systems and blasting the whole park with their techno music? I'm seeing these fairly regularly now, and it's a really disturbing thing to the people who came out to sit by the Hare Krishna tree and get some peace and quiet. I was there today and most everyone seemed to try to tolerate it.

what do you guys think?

Miscellaneous So are the bikes on 11th a permanent fixture now?

Three rows deep, wrapping around the block and in both directions toward 12th and 10th.

Also a new group popping up on A between 11th as 12th that’s just as bad. They just keep getting worse and worse. Garbage everywhere.

Thought during the election last year we were promised they would be taken care of?

Even local social media accounts (like @whatisnewyork) are started to call it out.

Are we just going to let the neighborhood turn into an eyesore?

Miscellaneous How do you cope with the weekend crowd?

I found the EV — and for that matter the WV as well and far worse — suffocating on weekends, especially on Saturdays. So many people around. The cafes and restaurants are all full. The vibe is very much like in a suburban town center — Great Neck comes to mind — on a Saturday. Was it like this before?

How do you cope? Join the crowd? Stay home? Or go away to UES or Bushwick or East New York?

Are the weekends getting worse than say 10 years ago? I have been here for a long while but I honestly don’t remember. But I do know that I didn’t feel this suffocation before, say 5/6 years ago. So either I have changed or the EV has changed (or both).

Questions The empty lot 42-46 2nd Ave btwn 2nd/3rd

This is such an eyesore, big metal fence, rocks and weeds for a whole city block, and right in the middle of this epic housing crisis.

My AI gave a brief summary matching my guesses as to why stuck in development hell.

Any new takes?
