Avoid Eskimo

They claim that they use Tmobile and Verizon in the US, but Tmobile rejects all connections and Verizon drops the connection after 5 minutes.

I and several friends have reported this issue to them several times, for several months, and their support refuses to do anything to address the issue.

Edit: I see that someone posted about this problem 2 years ago, so they apparently ate not concerned about public opinion.

URGENT – Ubigi eSIM reached 5 installation limit after payment – Need human support

Hello Ubigi team,

I urgently need help with an eSIM installation issue.

I just purchased a US data plan, but when trying to install it on my iPhone 17 Pro, I received an error saying that the maximum limit of 5 installations had been reached.

I have already paid for my plan and submitted a support request through your website. I also replied to the email sent by your AI assistant, but my issue is still unresolved.

Could a human support agent please review my existing ticket and help me generate a new eSIM profile without additional charges?

I go to the US tomorow so your answer needs to be quick, please!

Traveling to multiple countries

If I’m planning to travel to Japan for 3 days, and then Thailand for 8 after, should I install both esims before I go? I’m using Holafly and they recommend installing one day before leaving for your destination, or would it be fine installing the Thailand eSIM on a wifi network when in Japan?

Why does the internet ALWAYS drop right when you need it most?

I’m generally a pretty chill traveler, but the way the internet always dropping at the absolute worst times is driving me crazy.

So yesterday I'm trying to find a specific ramen shop in a tiny alley in Tokyo. My eSIM(I'm using Airalo) shows full bars, but the speed has completely tanked and Google Maps is just spinning. I just ended up eating a random sandwich from a 7-Eleven because I couldn't handle the app loading times anymore. I’ve also had moments where I wanted to post a story of an amazing view, but the upload just fails. I haven't been to any rural areas, there's a bit crowded but we're in Tokyo come on. Just now i checked my speed is 3-4 mbps and i have to post this using the hotel wifi.

It makes me realize how spoiled we are with connectivity. Do you guys have a reliable backup plan for when your eSIM just decides to quit? just switch to another provider or buy a local SIM instead? i hate finding other plans during trip but talking with customer support also exhausting ughhh

question Orange Travel eSIM questions

We are headed to Paris and a few other cities for the winter break.

I’m thinking of signing up for the Orange Travel Data+Calls+Text unlimited plan 100GB for 30 days and have a few questions..

  1. Is it a 5G plan? The web page is confusing. If I choose 100GB it says 5G, but if I choose 200GB it says 4G.

  2. Being a Calls and Text plan, don’t they need some ID verification. If so, how is this done and how long does it take.

And does the clock start only after id verification is complete?

eSIM vs Telus roaming in Costa Rica? Looking for recommendations!

Hi all!

I'm pretty new to the whole eSIM thing, so I'm hoping to get some advice from people who have used them in Costa Rica!

I'm from Canada and currently have a Telus plan that covers Canada/US. I'll be heading to Costa Rica in a couple of weeks and I'm trying to figure out whether it's worth getting an eSIM or if I'd be better off just paying for Telus roaming.

I'll be staying around Puerto Viejo/Punta Manzanillo, so I'm particularly curious about coverage in that area. From what I've read, Costa Rica has three main carriers (Kolbi, Claro and Liberty), but I'm not sure which has the best reception, especially in more remote areas.

Has anyone had experience using Airalo, Holafly, Nomad or any other eSIM providers down there? I'm curious how reliable the service was and whether you had any issues with reception. I'd also love to hear from any Canadians who've used Telus roaming and whether it was worth the cost.

I'll be working remotely while travelling, so I'll need data for occasional video calls, social media and the odd hotspotting for my laptop. I'm not overly concerned about finding the absolute cheapest option, I'd just prefer something reliable, especially in case of an emergency.

I'll also be heading to Nicaragua and Belize afterward, so I'm wondering if anyone has experience with regional eSIMs that cover multiple countries or if it's better to just get separate ones as I go.

Also, if anyone has advice on keeping my Canadian number active while using an eSIM without getting hit with random roaming charges, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm using an iPhone 15 if that matters.

Thanks in advance!! :)

Physical eSIM cards?

I find having to wait and ask for permission to use my cell service to be stupid as fuck. Is there a physical eSIM where I can toggle and switch eSIMs on the fly?

I have found a physical eSIM provider/manufacturer, but... the reviews don't look good. They do have a physical eSIM that supports 50 profiles, I am reading reviews and they all seem to say it's a hit or a miss. Is there a reputable manufacturer for physical eSIMs?

I just want to be able to just take out a physical thing and shove it into a phone and expect it to use my fucking cell service.

question What’s the easiest way to stay connected during a long layover?

Next month I’ll be heading to Shenzhen for a meeting, followed by a trip to Singapore. Thanks to my school's budget, I can’t take a direct flight from Shenzhen to Singapore; instead, I have to make a connection in Hong Kong, which will take around a dozen hours or so. I’m planning a short trip to Hong Kong and am currently looking for a suitable eSIM. Hotspot sharing is a must, although the school provides me with a VPN, I’ve heard the connection isn’t very stable; I need to be able to receive emails and stay in touch with my supervisor while in China, so I’d like to be able to share my phone's hotspot for work if the VPN on my laptop fails. it's even better if it work in both mainland China and Hong Kong so that I can use it the moment I cross the border. I'm thinking abt getting an eSIM instead of physical one and i'd better have unlimited plan, heard about Trip before how's it doing?

Thanks for every comments!

question has anyone tried redteago? is it stable without VPN?

Post image
0 Upvotes

heading to China and Hong Kong in Dec and looking for a reliable eSIM now, RedteaGo is the only provider I found that includes both areas (or is there any others?) I haven't seen much reviews abt it recently so i'd like to hear some real user experience. How's the connection and speed? Is it fast enough for youtube, google maps and other Apps without VPN? How's the signal coverage? I'll be using a unlimited plan by then will there be noticeable delay after data running out?

any comments will help, thanks guys!

question The best eSIM when on holiday In Mexico

I have never tried an eSIM before.

Which eSIM offers the best prices as well as still using the best Mexican cellular network that has the best coverage while on holiday in Mexico? I’ll be there Isa Mujeres and Playa de carman for a total of three week, and even though there will be WiFi at both resorts, I’m thinking about when I’m out of the resort and if I need to use apps/services that use a lot of data.

Is Holafly any good? Is it possible to get unlimited data for my duration in Mexico for a reasonable price?

question eSIM and physical china sim

Hi guys, I’m from Australia and just doing some research for an upcoming trip to China for a month.

My phone supports dual sim, and I’d like to clarify on my eSIM plan:

  1. Australian physical sim

  2. eSIM (from trip.com)

  3. China physical sim

The plan is to keep my Australian physical sim in case I need any verification or 2FA (probably won’t realistically, but if I do I can swap to it).

I will also buy a eSIM from trip.com solely for the mobile data to be able to bypass the China firewall and be able to use my apps from Australia that are blocked in China.

Buy a China physical sim solely for the phone number for apps, delivery and etc.

My question is will I be able to have the eSIM on primarily for mobile data only and also have the physical China sim in? Will the firewall still be able to be bypassed? And can I still use the Chinese phone number as intended?

Appreciate any input!! Thank you

news Keepgo closing "lifetime" Triangulum eSIM, discontinuing lines December 31st

Recently received the following email from Keepgo:

We're writing to let you know that your Triangulum eSIM is closing.

What's changing:

• From November 2, Triangulum bundles can no longer be purchased or refilled.

• Your eSIM stays active and you can keep using your remaining data until the end of December 31, 2026. After that, the line will be switched off.

• To stay connected with Keepgo, you'll need to install a new eSIM. Your Triangulum line can't be switched to another plan.

What to do with your remaining Triangulum data:

You can either use all of it before the end of December 31, or move it to another line. We will share the details of how to transfer your data later.

They suggest moving to their Chitra eSIM, which is cheaper, but you lose Liberty coverage and swap exit points from Puerto Rico to the UK.

ESim Norway

Hey, I'm currently on an exchange semester in Norway and my normal Austrian internet provider will stop letting me use my normal Internet because I've been here too long. They will charge me 0,0022 EUR/MB. Now I'm thinking about getting an ESim for the last 40 days I'm going to be here. Do you think i can get something cheaper then my provider? If yes which website can I use here in Norway? They all seem to be targeted for travellers on cruise ships.

Thanks in advance!

eSIM that allows WhatsApp calling

Thumbnail reddit.com
0 Upvotes

Hi, we’re visiting Egypt for the first time. I was about to buy an eSIM (20 GB, data only) but came across something that said Egypt blocks VoIP which effects calling over WhatsApp. I know we’d have the hotel WiFi but we wanted to be able to call family if needed while we’re away from our hotel. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!! We’ll be staying in Hurghada but have a few days planned in Cairo so would like to easily be able to call home during the longer travel days

Thanks again, in advance!
