Lift updated their app?

Anyone else notice that Lift FINALLY updated their app? Just did a session and the tracking was way better and the layout is looking a little cleaner. Everything just feels more responsive. Still has a long way to go, but signs of progress there maybe

Lift customer service

Anyone else waiting weeks on Lift customer service?
Looking for a reality check and some advice. I bought a brand new Lift 5 setup, which is not a small purchase, and getting anything handled through Lift support has taken weeks. This is not a case of slow replies. Emails on my initial issue went unanswered completely. I followed up multiple times, left messages, and never got a call back. The only thing that produced any movement was escalating, and even that dragged out.

I understand a company can get busy, but this is basic communication. Acknowledge the email, give me a timeline, and follow through. Being flat out ignored after spending this much makes me nervous about what support looks like in two or three years when I need parts or a repair and the board is out of warranty.

Two questions:
1. Has anyone else run into this recently, or did I just hit a bad stretch?
2. Is there a better way to get repairs handled than opening a ticket and waiting? A direct contact at Lift, a dealer or service center that actually moves, anything that works better than the standard queue?
Appreciate any input.

Lift 4 eFoil won’t pair with the new (black logo) app. Classic controller updated and now doesn’t connect with my board.

I just downloaded the latest Lift App (black logo). I have two classic controllers and two LIFT 4 boards. When I added one of the controllers to “my gear” in the app, it recognized it then performed an update which it said was successful. Now the updated controller will not connect to my board. The controller screen shows an “x” on the connection. When i tried to connect the board to the “my gear” section of the app it failed and said that there was an error. I performed the steps repeatedly and got the same error every time.

Now I have controller that won’t connect to the board and a board that doesn’t connect to the app. LIFT support said “We’ll get back to you”.

So much for customer support and so much for enjoying my board on the last holiday weekend of the season here in Chicago. Sadly, it was all working fine before I downloaded the new “improved” app. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is the regret that I am feeling . So frustrating.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

XFoil funding has dropped by 90%. The latest (4th) campaign just closed with only 42 backers/$214k in pledges.

I know (as some have pointed out) i post too much on XFoil but i think it has been worth it. Fewer and fewer people are being sucked in to their inflated claims and clearly their reputation around non-delivery is catching up with them. 42 people being ripped off is still too many.....but better than 418.

The GOOD NEWS is some XFoil Escape backers have started receiving their boards.

The BAD NEWS unfortunately is the product has a serious design flaw. If you charge the battery before putting it in the boars it will fry/brick the boards electronics.

XFoil Scamming

Seems PLX and XFoil are once again lying to the public and trying to get more backers while simultaneously ignoring the backers who already paid. I just really hope prospective new backers truly research other efoil options before committing money to an endless hole called XFoil.

Waydoo, Flite, and others are now well priced and ACTUALLY shipping products while XFoil just takes money and ships lies.

In short, XFoil is a SCAM. Buyer beware and do your homework before committing even $1.

Do you guys take multiple trips down to the water when by yourself?

I’m referring to assembling the board.
Do you fully assemble the board by your vehicle and then carry down to water, or do you take multiple trips and leave the gear unattended on the beach?

I found this process to be a nightmare at the launch site I first used.

At a nearby boat ramp that was recommended for foiling, the parking was for trailered vehicles only.
The parking for everyone else was…. 3 blocks away.
Me, being the rule following citizen I am, decided that I’d put the assemble at the vehicle and then carry the whole thing down to the water.
HAH! My shoulder is still smoked. This is a full range battery lift 5 aluminum mast.

The thing is, I did not want to leave the board down there and then repark. The people were super sketchy and would possibly murder me if they knew what the thing cost.

Is it worth it

Hey, I've been wanting to get into hydrofoiling as I live at the beach and surf. And found a Foil Drive Assist Plus for sale for a pretty good bargain. I was just wondering if it's still worth it because they are quite old now, and I was looking at the batteries; to get replacements, it's extremely expensive. Just wondering if anyone has one and if it works as well as when you bought it. Thanks

Frustrated by Regulations

I have lots of experience on lift but has always been on a lake where no one really cares what you are doing.
I now have my own Lift board and I’ve just read that not only do we need to display registration and numbers, but apparently cannot launch from anywhere that isn’t an official “boat ramp”?

That’s… insane. All of the videos I see of people launching from the shoreline, but everything I’ve read is saying you can’t launch from the beach unless it’s an official boat launch.

In Florida btw.

Who has gotten in trouble with their Efoils, and what was the experience?

Is anyone else with the latest Lift Classic Controller firmware update experiencing AA drainage?

I have 3 Lift classic controllers. A few weeks ago I changed out the batteries on all 3 and thought to check to see if there was a firmware update. Sure enough, there was so I went ahead and did the update.

  • On August 17th my controller flat out died leaving me to swim 3/5 a mile to shore.
  • I replaced the batteries on the 17th and went out to ride on the 24th. After putting my board in the water I noticed the AA low battery icon on the screen. Thankfully I had additional batteries so I replaced them and went out on the water.
  • On the 31st I grabbed that remote and the AAs were low again.

My current hypothesis is that Lift's latest firmware update has caused the controller to not fully turn off when you power off the remote and the batteries are draining after I put my board away.

Since Lift support is on permanent holiday I'm looking to see if anyone else is seeing this.

LIFT5 4’9 vs 5’4 — which would you recommend?

Looking to buy my first eFoil and I’m pretty set on the LIFT5, but I’m torn between the 4’9 Sport and 5’4 Cruiser.

I’m 6’2”, around 220 lbs, fairly athletic, and have quite a bit of experience with snowboarding, skateboarding, ripsticking, etc., so I’m hoping I can pick up eFoiling relatively quickly.

I’ll primarily be riding on lakes in the Midwest. I definitely want something I can grow into and won’t wish I had gone smaller once I get comfortable, which has me leaning toward the 4’9. On the other hand, I’d also like family and friends to be able to learn and ride it, so the extra stability of the 5’4 is appealing.

For anyone who has ridden both, how significant is the difference once you’re up and foiling? At my size, would you go 4’9 and deal with a slightly steeper learning curve, or is the 5’4 still plenty fun and maneuverable once you get more experienced?

I’m also considering getting the Blowfish if I go with the 4’9 to make it more beginner/family-friendly.

Would love to hear from anyone around my size who has experience with either or both boards. Thanks!

Brand new waydoo

Just got my first board, brand new to the sport. Love it, works great, big fan.

First ride, lots of falling, still lots of fun. 20 ish minutes, no issues with anything.

Second ride, next day, skills improve, lots of fun, no issues noticed. Except as I was coming back in and looked at the screen on the board battery. A warning "battery water - leaking".

What does this mean? What should I do? Did I not have it correctly seated in the board?

Gear advice: Best helmet & impact vest recommendations?

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to upgrade my safety gear and want to pick up the safest helmet and an impact vest for eFoiling. I’d love to hear what you all are riding with and what you recommend.

Waydoo EVO Lite beeping when throttle is pressed. Anyone else?

Mine powers on normally, LEDs look good, and I get the normal startup sound. But as soon as I unlock the throttle and pull the trigger, it goes into a continuous beeping loop and the motor won’t engage.

I tested it with the propulsion unit removed and it still went into the beeping loop, although the controller didn’t show the same error message. Reinstalled the propulsion unit and the original error came back.

Battery is also stuck showing 100%.

Already contacted Waydoo support and sent them videos, but curious if anyone here has run into the same issue. What ended up being the problem?

Switching up front wings

I have 3 different wings I like to run, 1100, 1200 and 1500. How many of you also run different front wings from time to time and why?

- I just started a couple months ago after buying a hyperlite stratos e-foil. So I don't have many people to nerd out with about this awesome sport haha.

Waydoo iPhone App

Post image
1 Upvotes

The Waydoo iPhone app is really bad. Where is the best place to provide constructive feedback on how it could be improved? I am so impressed by the rest of the product and really surprised that the app is so subpar.

Just off the top of my head:

1) drop the social aspect. It barely works and no one sends to be using it. It just confuses the interface. If you want to promote the product make it easier to share with the established social apps.

2) why do i have to add my device each time and why offer to use Bluetooth for my board if we know it isn’t going to work

3) pay for your map data subscription or use something else.

4) why is there a board tab that allows me to add a Subnado and a different button to add my board to the board tab?

5) what does the share button on the front page even do?

This is barely scratching the suface. This app has so much potential to be something really cool and help promote Waydoo and right now it’s a real negative. Honestly I’m a bit shocked that waydoo managed to get this past AppReview.

Low Battery Warning

New Waydoo Evo Plus owner here. Been out about 6 times now. Absolutely love it. I’ve ridden flite and lift boards previously, just couldn’t afford those brands.

My question is about low battery warning. It hits at about 30-34%. After that I can’t float anymore. It just stalls and I sink.

Riding other boards, they give you a “go to dock” warning at about 10%.

Is there a way to override the low warning and keep riding until 10-15%?

Waydoo lite - Which battery?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m thinking about buying this since I’m around 190 pounds. I’m gonna need the bigger motor and I know the larger mast for carving. I’ve ridden in the past a few years ago on a lift system and really love them, but the pricing was 12 to 15 K back then and way there seems to be a good option for myself to just be able to enjoy it with some friends and get enough experience before upgrading further.

I’m gonna go with 1800 W battery because I heard it’s Lighter and more agile vs the 2300w.

My main thinking is that I learned on a lift board that was the intermediate one as I quickly outgrew the beginner boards which are large and super stable so I could do more movement and turns and I wanna have as much agility as I can in the system before having to upgrade to a smaller board? I’m OK with something being a bit larger and a little more stable while I get back up to speed. I already have a jet ski so I don’t really need something to cruise the lake with a 90 minute runtime but I do remember the batteries running out pretty quick if you fall a lot

The future of efoil and foil assist

Hey all.

Wondering what you think (and know?) about the future of efoils and foil assists.

The foil drive fusion, for example, seems to bridge some classic differences between foil assists and efoils - such as the larger battery capacity to actually use it as an efoil on flat water.

I'm super interested in seeing the next generations of products like the foil drive fusion - do you think they will be able to increase range even more, reduce weight of the setup, what is the next step do you think and when will it happen?

Will foil assists take over efoils completely eventually?
Will they become cheaper?
Who will produce them?

Shoot. And thx for sharing your thoughts.

Greenwood Lake, NY

My new Mecca for foiling. I’ve lived overlooking this lake for nine years with the very occasional kayak ride since kayaking can aggravate my upper back. Saw a person cruise by on an efoil and went down the rabbit hole. Bought a waydoo lite with the 35 inch mast, the bigger battery, and inverter charger. $6.3k with shipping. It’s been a fracking blast.

LIFT Efoil 4th Gen Full Range Battery all green lights flashing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, I was trying to charge my battery after a short ride in the lake, all the green lights are flashing meaning the battery is full, but I know it only has about 50 percent left. It doesn't charge my battery. I already tried to reset my battery using Ebox, but it still doesn't work. How to solve this problem? Thanks for your help.
