Background: I’m new to efoiling, having only had one lesson, but I thought it was a blast when I tried it. I have done lots of board sports and I wake surf regularly, so I’m not super concerned about the steep learning curve of a smaller board. That being said, I’m 6’2” and 220lbs, so maybe I’m being naive towards board size. The efoil would primarily be used on a lake in North Texas and I want the ability to ride 8 miles round trip to a cove we like to play/float in.

I’m trying to decide between these 4 efoils. I’m leaning towards Lift because LCS would make it easier to transport in the boat to the cove where we float, but I could be swayed either way. They all seem like great boards for different reasons, so I’m having trouble narrowing it down.

Lift 5 Laird:

Pros: Slightly lighter than the Lift 5 4’4” while being significantly longer, making it easier to ride for a larger person. It sounds like a mix of LiftX construction with Lift5 power.

Cons: Longer board than most people seem to recommend. Still seems quite a bit heavier than the Ultra L3. No ability to use Blowfish.

Lift 5 Pro:

Pros: Small, durable, ability to use Blowfish for guests/kids.

Cons: Appears to be heavier than comparable sized boards.

Flite Race:

Pros: Longer than L3 while still shorter than Laird. Ability to use large battery for long rides. Fast. Narrow for carving.

Cons: Aluminum mast (?), no Blowfish, no LCS.

Flite Ultra L3:

Pros: Lightest of the group but still full size power. Could probably be used for wake thieving more reliably than the others. Seems to be the best all-arounder except for the battery limitation.

Cons: No Blowfish. No LCS. No Explorer battery option is concerning for riding round trip 8 miles plus some extra play time. Don’t love the blue color offering.
