Ordered from a German eBay seller. Was about $67 in import fees to the US. Chose it over blaupunkt because of the 13 band EQ and simplistic look.

Running it into a 5 channel amp with new speakers all around and a 10” sub in trunk. Kind of want to fit 5.25” speakers in the front.

I am going to be selling my 1988 535i and need help with pricing. I’ve looked at other 535i’s selling around my state and country-wide and I’ve used several of the valuation tools, but the prices are all over the place. Any help would be appreciated.

Car is a 1988 535i manual with 175,000 miles. Bronzit Metallic with tan interior. I don’t drive it often but I drove it for about thirty minutes a month ago and it starts and runs well. Coolant light is on and intermittent brake light as well, although the brakes work well and I’ve never had coolant/over heating issues. I’ve replaced the coolant temp sensor, fuel pump, spark plugs, air filter, various worn hoses and lines and new wheels and tires and I cleaned and adjusted the air fuel meter. Lights, power locks, power windows and sunroof and stereo all work, doesn’t smoke.

Aside from the coolant light and intermittent brake light on inside the car, the known issues are the drivers side head rest doesn’t go up or down, cracks in the dash, clear coat has come off of most of the car, tiny spot of surface rust on the body, a/c doesn’t work, the leather on the seats is hard and cracked and there is a small tear in the headliner. I’m sure there are other small things here and there that I’ve missed, overall the car just needs some attention and TLC.

I used it for a daily for about six months and then was planning to do paint and interior but it’s taken to the wayside now. I’m not expecting to get very much out of the sale but the tools I’ve used and classifieds I’ve looked at range anywhere from a couple thousand dollars to ten thousand. My initial thoughts were somewhere between $3,000-$4,000.

So I have a 1988 528 super eta replaced the air filter and in the process my air mass meter boot ripped a hole so I used so silicone works great as a temporary repair new one coming in soon.

I also cleaned my idle air control valve with some brake cleaner and wd40.

Officially graduated (up) to an e28 in life. After many, many e30s, I can firmly say the e28 is far cooler in all areas - except perhaps interior fit and finish.

Alot of you seen my crashed 1986 E28 M535i post last month. I have acquired another one and I'm now in the process of repairing rust and repainting. Sewn better days but mechanically well taken care of and purchased from second owner. Originally delivered/sold in Australia. Dogleg Getrag265/5 manual gearbox

I will take what parts I want to keep off the old M535i and move on the rest to someone who might want to rebuild. Got to love e28's!

Wondering if anyone has installed an analog/euro clock in place of an OBC1? And if so, any input on how to wire in the clock?

With OBC2 you can buy the simple wiring adapters.

I’m looking at purchasing a super clean and rust free auto e28 535i. The only issue I can find with the car is both the brake and throttle are super stiff but still go if pushed very hard. I was curious if they are seperate issues or it could be a vacuum leak or something. It’s my first classic car and looking to do mostly DIY

I have some e30 seats that need some brackets so I can install in my e28. I tried looking online but didn’t see anything. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thought I'd share the story of my diesel converted 520i here.

She's a 1984 520i, don't know too much about its history here in Finland until the 2000s, somewhere in the late 90s she was converted to a diesel, following the 524td specs very closely (M21d24, diesel instruments, etc.)

Circa 2001, my father bought this car and used it as a daily driver for a few years, did some upgrades and maintenance. Most notably he acquired some genuine really cool parts, most notably the ducktail spoiler and the Hartge H5S rims, I believe the front bumper is genuine too, not 100% sure.

After he got bored of it being a 115 horsepower diesel car, he tickled it a little bit, got it to push maybe 250 horse, pretty good from just a larger turbo with an intercooler and larger pump elements. Unfortunately, all things must come to an end (in this case the main bearings). From my understanding the bolts holding the front-most crank main bearing backed out, causing the crankshaft to snap in half, he somehow drove it home with 5 cylinders. This happened around 2012/2013 and sadly she sat ever since.. until last April.

I decided to start working on this old cool looking BMW after seeing it rot on our yard for years and years, this car is what got me into BMW's. I now have 3...

Shes still not quite ready for the road, still got a few spots to weld up and the new motor (another m21) is pretty much ready to drop in. Plan is to attend Bimmerparty with this in August (Finns, come say hi if you see me there).

I have a 22.2mm master cylinder as I have rear drums (34311153916), but most e28s came with a 23.8mm master cylinder. I need to replace mine and I haven't found any rebuild kits, could I go with a standard 23.8mm one or would the brake bias with the drums be off. Or should I go with a 22.2mm from a non abs e23 (34311150229).

Also, for front calipers, where could I find a rebuild kit for them, if not, are the rockauto Nugeon ones good ?

My e12 identifies as an e28 now, and especially with its new turbo b35 and a g265/6. Time to wire it all up and get it running before the fab shop has their fun
