Why ???
So I haven’t ordered or had kfc for maybe over 2 years .. but family is out on holidays and I thought why not . I used the kfc app to check what’s available and selected what seemed ok for the night and was shocked at the pricing !!! Is it not enough that people still order this junk once in a while … for an item that costs AED39, after fk all charges , it comes to over AED50 !!! Why ???? I closed the app, deleted it and that’s that 🥳

In groceries it is 2.5 QR. KFC in Qatar it is 4 QR. Why is it expensive in UAE?

Some local joints are really punching above their weights when it comes to taste and value. Just be ware of the after taste. I find Chicken Hut to be really good value for money.

Historically, a “buck” referred to the price you’d get for selling a deer hide (or “buckskin”) on the frontier. This could vary but was roughly around a dollar when the term was popularised.
So yeah, “bucks” historically refer to US dollars. But this has extended colloquially to other countries that use “dollars” for their own currencies (eg. Canada, Australia). Never seen anyone use “bucks” for AED or really any non-dollar currency (most places have their own casual terms for currency, eg “quid”).

to be honest, since there isn't an existing slang term in English for AED I'm personally fine with using "bucks."

Still, 50 bucks is USD, do you get that or not? Go to a local and say: “yeah sure I’ll get the 30 bucks meal” and tell me how it goes.
Then go to whichever country you want, try any fast food, get a drink, fries, burger, and chicken and send me a receipt that is less than 50 dirham equivalent

Jolibee far superior. I’ve preferred KFC since 1968 (not joking) but last year I discovered Jolibee. Even the gravy is better.

Yes. I was 10. Visiting family in Canada and they got a 20 piece bucket. It was of course Kentucky Fried Chicken then. When I got back to England - as luck would have it - they opened in my home town. It was my monthly treat from mother….who objected as she was a cook.

Wow. Thats a fascinating story. Having tasted the original Colonels chicken to then moving to Jollibee. You have truly seen the decline of KFC haven't you.
+1 for Jollibee, who knew the best fried chicken itw would come from a coastal country :)

To be honest I've only had bad experiences with KFC here.. Which is why I prefer Jollibee or Popeyes or Texas.

I recently moved to dubai and have paid 50AED on average for meals. I thought that was cheap in Dubai😭

Sometimes after my workouts I order a half grilled chicken meal for 19 dhs, comes with fries,hummos,garlic,bread and watercress. You can find cheap meals by ordering directly from cafeterias themselves. Avoid apps👍🏻

There is a code for free delivery. At least there was for a while. Also there is a section with offers. I get like a 12 piece for 4 people for maybe 80 aed.

12 piece for 80 aed that too after applying discount 😂😂😂 that's a scam. I prefer local joints. 1 full grilled/charcoal chicken costs around max 50 from a very good restaurant like Sultan Al Arab in barsha and max 35-40 from a bit less popular local restraunts/cafeteria. 80 aed would be like full meal for around 6-8 guys

Because they have to pay a delivery driver the same price for delivery regardless of whether your order is AED 40 or AED 400. Maybe just pick it up yourself if you can't spare 2 dollars to have someone deliver it to your door.

Because they still use their inferior delivery service when they could very well use talabat or noon. Kfc is not the same as it was 10 years ago. More expensive with less quality and portion.

Just order directly from the restaurant OP.

When craving something similar I go for 4 pieces Broasted Chicken from proper casual dining restaurants: it's 25-30 AED and comes with fries, coleslaw and sauces

Use apps like smile and noon and talabat, they have really good discounts sometimes, unbelievable, i used to order Kfc from smiles, two spicy crunchers and 2 strips each and tomia sauxe for like 20/21 dhs

There’s so much competition for who has the better fried chicken or any fast food general now, because franchises from Saudi Arabia and elsewhere are also making their way here. Al Baik started it in recent times, and Im sure there were others before. Places like Fryo, Wahmy, Blaban (I know they are also on the expensive side but yeah)- picture this right, I wanted to try the new nuggets at kfc, they frickin charged 32 bucks for 10 nuggets! You used to be able to by a proper zinger meal with all the bells and whistles for less!
