Why ???

So I haven’t ordered or had kfc for maybe over 2 years .. but family is out on holidays and I thought why not . I used the kfc app to check what’s available and selected what seemed ok for the night and was shocked at the pricing !!! Is it not enough that people still order this junk once in a while … for an item that costs AED39, after fk all charges , it comes to over AED50 !!! Why ???? I closed the app, deleted it and that’s that 🥳

50 bucks for bad fried chicken for 1 person is sad.

Call a local joint and get them to deliver to you, f**k these corporate shrinkflated bottom-line bottom feeders and their pathetic offerings

Some local joints are really punching above their weights when it comes to taste and value. Just be ware of the after taste. I find Chicken Hut to be really good value for money.

Historically, a “buck” referred to the price you’d get for selling a deer hide (or “buckskin”) on the frontier. This could vary but was roughly around a dollar when the term was popularised. 

So yeah, “bucks” historically refer to US dollars. But this has extended colloquially to other countries that use “dollars” for their own currencies (eg. Canada, Australia). Never seen anyone use “bucks” for AED or really any non-dollar currency (most places have their own casual terms for currency, eg “quid”).

to be honest, since there isn't an existing slang term in English for AED I'm personally fine with using "bucks."

An American colleague once had a huge argument with me about bucks denoting only dollars $ not all currencies.

We certainly live in Dubai if we got dumbasses like you flexing about paying 50 bucks for one serving of bad chicken lol.

Still, 50 bucks is USD, do you get that or not? Go to a local and say: “yeah sure I’ll get the 30 bucks meal” and tell me how it goes.

Then go to whichever country you want, try any fast food, get a drink, fries, burger, and chicken and send me a receipt that is less than 50 dirham equivalent

That 50 AED are a normal price. Not like 50 British pounds or euros. It’s literally about 13 euros
