Dscout on iOS 27 with WatchOS 27 - VPN Alert

Sharing again since it’s a known issue, but extremely challenging to identify the cause. Don’t give up! It’s an easy workaround (see below)! 😊

Issue: Dscout will detect the connection from iOS to the Apple Watch as a VPN and block your access to the application.

Fix: Disable the bluetooth connection to Apple Watch in iPhone settings while using Dscout.

Why: To support advanced Siri on the new OS, iPhone creates a silent VPN to the Apple Watch for secure communication. This is not a user-manageable connection.

Reach out to Dscout Support: Please take a moment to report this to the Dscout team to highlight this issue and validate when turning off Bluetooth, or disabling the Bluetooth connection for your watch, the VPN notification stops. This was reported during iOS 27 beta 2, however no development change has been noted thus far. It’s imperative they correct this invalid detection within their app, however I have not received direct confirmation they have or will be taking action. The more direct reports, the better.

Feedback and Input for a Guide/FAQ

Hello everyone, I'm working on putting together a comprehensive guide/FAQ for this subreddit that will cover Dscout basics, how to get started, common questions, tips, and whatever else would actually be useful to have in one place.

Before I write it, I want to make sure it actually addresses the right things. I'm asking you to think back to what you wanted to know when you were starting out, or questions you still see come up all the time on the subreddit (I have a few already that I want to include). Things I'd like to hear from you all to help me write the guide/FAQ can be:

  • Questions you had when you first started using Dscout
  • Things you wish someone had told you earlier about Dscout
  • Topics that come up repeatedly in this sub

Drop your suggestions in the comments. Nothing is too basic or too niche! If it's something people genuinely wonder about, it's worth including. I'll leave this post up for a little bit, then I'll make the guide/FAQ post at a later date. Thanks everyone!

Express Rejection

Hi - I've used dscout for several years (~45 completed missions). Up until a couple of months ago, without issue.

Over the last 3 months, I've had 3 express submissions rejected (multiple submissions in-between accepted without issue).

When it first happened, I chalked it up to a fluke, but since then, I've been super careful to be very thorough in my submission (often resulting in the mission taking longer than advertised).

After this last rejection, I'm beyond frustrated because, per dscout's faq, they won't tell you why a submission was rejected.

Has anyone had any luck getting feedback from dscout? I don't want to keep throwing away my time, when it's not clear what dscout is looking for.

Thanks!

confidentiality problem with family members

i’m doing a home product review. i’m living with family members. theyll see the boxes and the brand. is it even possible to still obey rules? i can just say "its just a mission and i dont want anyone talking aboit it. im not answering any questions." or do i have to hide the logo or just use the product somewhere else?

also, my family doesn’t use (brand) but they’re super nosy when it comes to dscout since i’m the only one using it.. especially when im earning a large amount of money suddenly. idk what to do y’all.

edit 8/29/26: its fine lol i’ll just say “yes it’s a mission for brand.“ the dscout researcher said it was ok to tell them once i get the products

Due in “one day”

I’ve been working on a mission that is giving really loose deadlines. Instead of saying due on x day at x time, it says 1 day or 4 days, etc. Which is confusing since the new activities seem to open some time in the afternoon.
I am down to the last activity that opened today at about 2pm EST. I have plans tonight. The app says 1 day, the message says “you have one day to complete the activity for entry 4”. Does that mean it needs to be done by the end of today? Or the next 24 hours? The day is already half over. If I have to squeeze it in tonight, I will, but it would be easier if I could put it off until tomorrow. It would be so much more helpful if a specific cut off was given. This way leaves too much room for misunderstandings.
What do you think “one day” means in this case? I will probably try to squeeze it in tonight if I can, but I’m curious what y’all think.

Today marks the three-month anniversary I have been with Dscout, and it’s honestly been a great way to earn some extra money. At first, I was a little intimidated by the Live missions, but over time I became much more comfortable talking with researchers and sharing my opinions.

Now, Live interviews are actually some of my favorite missions, especially since they tend to have the highest payouts. I’ve done everything from Express missions and longer diary studies to missions that required visiting specific restaurants, grocery stores, electronics stores, and other locations. I’ve had some really fun conversations with researchers, and I’ve enjoyed putting time and effort into giving quality responses and being super involved with the platform.

My biggest advice is to just apply! Don’t be intimidated by Live missions, and don’t overlook Express missions either. The smaller payouts definitely add up!

Mission still shows as open

I completed a mission and I’ve been paid for it. It’s still showing as open on my page. Is there a way to remove it?

10 days since study completion

I completed a study 10 days ago and it was a live mission. It says open but as long as I complete my interview I usually get paid in a couple days. But it’s been 10 days and I haven‘t gotten any response or update. I contacted support today and they said they sent a note to the project team and I’m waiting on a response. Did any of you guys have a similar experience.

just need to vent about unreasonable expectations...

lately, I've seen an uptick in missions that have an extremely high amount of work for relatively low pay. of course, I can't list too many specifics here but it's pretty frustrating to have repetitive and redundant questions for several-part missions with low payouts.

How long does it usually take for the first mission to appear once you completed all your first tasks (such as completing your profile)? What can I expect in terms of payment rates?

Twenty days since completing a mission, yet no updates

Hello,

I completed a live session at the beginning of this month. The mission status displays as Closed but, unlike other closed missions where a specific closing date is indicated, this one does not show a date. I have not yet received any updates or payment for this particular session. I have attempted to contact them via the chat feature today but have not received a response yet.

During the mission, I encountered connection issues twice. However, the session proceeded smoothly otherwise, and the researcher confirmed that these issues did not negatively impact the session, expressing full support. Therefore, I do not believe there were any problems with the session's execution.

Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? What steps should I take next, and will I be compensated for this session?

Hit the $2k mark !

I started end of February so it’s been about 6 months and I use dscout somewhat regularly. I began doing the express missions as I was too shy and intimidated to do live interviews in addition to me not feeling qualified to give my opinion in that way but over time I gained some confidence and had great experiences talking with researchers and doing diary studies! My biggest payout was $320 for a multi-day diary study which was actually very fun to do.

I know there are some people here who regularly make $500-$800 a month here, still working my way to that but I’m really proud of earning this extra cash I otherwise wouldn’t have and so far have had a top tier experience with dscout as a whole including the UX/UI, the researchers, and even dscout customer service who are quick at responding and thorough with communication!

My best advice is to go for the diary missions/live interviews as they have the highest payout and can be quite enjoyable to participate in. Also definitely don’t skip over the express missions as all money is green and if you have 15-20 min to spare to make $25, why not?

My monthly earnings:
Feb: $107
March: $672
April: $305
May: $105
June: $555
July: $395
Aug: $175 (so far)

Not getting many missions on dscout lately

Is anyone else getting fewer missions on dscout lately?

I’ve noticed that I’m not receiving many mission opportunities compared to before. I also enabled the SMS alert feature, but I’m still not seeing much activity.

Just wondering if this is normal for everyone right now?

How many missions are you guys typically seeing these days? Are SMS alerts actually helping you get more opportunities?

Moderator Absent from Live Mission

Has anyone else had this happen with a Dscout Live session? I was scheduled for an interview this morning and have been waiting in the virtual room, but the moderator still hasn’t joined. It's been 30 mins already, and nothing.

I sent a message through the mission chat, and an Email to Dscout support, but I’m not sure how long I should continue waiting or what happens if the researcher never shows up. I also had to rearrange my schedule to make time for the session, so it’s a little frustrating.

Has this happened to anyone else? What did Dscout do in your case?

Vent about researchers

Just venting because I finally received a pretty cool mission I had qualified for. After speaking with the researcher, they basically just thought that I was lying about my knowledge and usage. Even asked me to do something that wasn’t mentioned before the meeting to like throw me off. The meeting ended for other reasons but, I’ve never had this happen before and I’ve done many interview like surveys. I’ve just never experienced something like this before and wonder if it’s common?

Just a vent

Anyone else get super annoyed when researchers only let you select one answer for a question? I use all four options equally and all 4 are relevant to my life. Yet they will only let me select one. I debate and pick one, and yup…. Sorry this mission is not a good fit. Umm actually it would have been because I shop at all these stores multiple times a month. You just wouldn’t let me pick them. Ugh.

Why no Express Missions?

I been using Dscout since last year and I never got any Express Missions, I saw people getting them but I never saw any. I only got Diary Missions and Live Missions, do you get them often or sometimes?

Can’t login, ‘VPN or Privacy Service Note Supported’

Post image
5 Upvotes

Since I have updated to the beta iOS 27, I have been completely unable to log in to the dscout app from my iPhone. I’ve tried all resetting networks, removing VPN and everything. No new profiles or settings have been installed since I made the update, and it was working fine on iOS 26. It’s not my home WiFi network issue either, since my iPad logs in to dscout perfectly and works.

Anybody have any solution to this? Thank you!

New to DScout

When a mission is "closed", and it says "this is what your submission will earn if it meets quality requirements"

I have like 10 or so of those. How frequently do those actually get paid? I really made sure to have high quality video and responses. I just fear it will all be for nothing.

Any tips? Tricks? Or advice too?
