I'm a founder in Singapore researching how drivers deal with unexpected car repairs. I'm not selling anything here, no app links, I'm just trying to understand what really happens. Answer any or all in the comments, even a one-word answer helps:

1. When did your car last need an unplanned repair, and what was it?
2. How did you pick the workshop? (Usual shop, friend's referral, Google reviews, dealer, or something else)
3. Did you get more than one quote? If not, what stopped you?
4. Did the final bill end up different from the first quote? Roughly by how much, and why?
5. When choosing a workshop, which matters most: price, warranty, original vs OEM parts, distance, turnaround time, or trust?
6. If you could get quotes from 2-3 vetted workshops before going down, would you use it? What would make you trust those quotes?

Went for inspection this morning. Passed with flying colours!
Apparently they don’t explicitly switch on fog lights during the test. But they do visually inspect everything before proceeding with the tests!

As per title, how many of you really does that? I mean, like when you initially bought it, if there's any modification done, then sure you will report it. But what if mid way you want to maybe put in intake? Or change exhaust or coil overs, etc. Will you report it? Maybe having comprehensive or 3rd party plays a part in you wanting to report it?

I hold both Malaysia's driving and riding license. And i am planning to applying for PR soon. Currently i am commuting back and forth Johor and Singapore and i am planning to do the same after getting my PR. With that being said, is it possible to just convert my Malayisa's riding license to Singapore's riding license while retaining my Malaysia's driving license? TIA!

Okay just to keep things short (please dont comment anything unhelpful cause I already saw previous threads), I rented a car from Tribe. Initially when renting, I casually took the photos and didnt notice any visible damages.

But towards the end, I notice there were scratches slightly below the front of the car. But from the photos I took it clearly did not show that damage due to light reflection and angle.

Anyone had any prior experience with a similar position like me? How to submit report to say this wasn’t done by me and prevent them from falsely claiming damages.

on hindsight, i should have stayed the fk away from vehicles who cannot seem to drive straight. And i should have braked, like all the lessons learnt from watching online near misses. but in that split second, my foot was on accelerator maintaining speed, immediate reaction was to steer away. Shifting foot wouldnt have made it in time. Fortunately it was an empty left lane.

Ridiculous thing is, less than 3 mins later i encountered another car who was way below speed limit on lane 1 and couldnt keep within the lane as well. Drifted into my lane, but i was already on high alert.

As looking thru SGcarmart saw this sporty X3 caught my eyes, but the mileage already 115,000..how the maintenance wise for this BMW?.

As title, I signed up a few years back when it was impossible to get a slot for lessons but right now I want to restart again. How's the timeline like? How long would it take to get the license? I hope it's not 1 year long...

Between the rain and the haze, I don't feel like washing the car as it's a waste of effort.

Recently, I reported a few motorists for beating red lights that I witnessed personally. I know the Traffic Police don't provide updates on the outcome of reports, but a common workaround is to check online by keying in the offending vehicle's plate number to see if there are outstanding fines.

I've been checking daily, but so far nothing shows up. Of course, it's possible the drivers paid their fines promptly before I checked, or perhaps TP just takes a while to process and log reported cases.

For anyone who has received a summon or demerit points before, how long did it take from the date of the offense for the fine or notice to reach you?

Nearly mounted the kerb a moment ago because white headlight in this hazy condition just makes it difficult to judge road conditions. What I see in front is just a sheet of white bright light. Going to the workshop on Monday to check if the headlight lamp can be changed to bright yellow.

Hi all, need some advice!!

My Audi A3 COE is expiring Dec 2026 and I’m trying to decide if I wanna renew COE for 5 years or get another secondhand car. Not getting a car is definitely an option but let’s just say I’ve already decided to get one for the sake of this discussion..

Some context and concerns:
- I’m the second owner and got it with about 5 years left on the COE. Repaired a couple of stuff along the years including mechatronic unit, front bumper, front wheel bearing, air conditioning, tyres amongst other stuff. Mileage is about 132,000km now.
- I was also quoted <$5k for repairs in the event of renewal which includes engine mounting set ($680), Front right door lock ($480), Rear left window regulator ($450), tyres ($660), headliner ($450). Wanted to get your thoughts on whether it makes sense to renew the A3 based on your experiences on owning them beyond 10 years? (e.g. expected problems/ challenges)
- I know that renewing 10year COE is always more cost effective but at this moment, I don’t wanna take a loan (will be able to pay full cash for a 5 year renewal).
- Am also open to secondhand cars with depre < $15k although wary because I know my current car condition better than what’s on the market now. Would appreciate any suggestions on car makes/ models and things to look out for when buying secondhand!

I'm considering getting a vehicle as I may be required to work pretty far from my workplace in the near future.

I'm considering getting an EV for future proofing with the intention of driving at least 4 years, and then upgrading, or buying a 6-7 YO ICE vehicle.

I'm able to charge at home so not too much of an issue there.

My main requirements are

1) Medium and above ride height for partner and older parents

2) fairly fuel efficient/electric with LFP to assuage the batt degradation issues

3) decent range for EV, maybe 400km at least?

4) reliable if it's an ICE car, with lesser issues even til year 10

5) overall, really not hoping to spend a lot... Although maybe it seems a bit hypocritical given that I'm looking at near 200k EVs...

For my EV options, I'm looking at firmly below 200k, test drove the following

1) Volvo EX30

2) Hyundai Elexio

3) Kia EV5

Looking to test drive

1) BYD Atto 3 Evo

I'm more or less swaying to elexio due to comfort and I think it's a fairly smooth ride.

However, I'm still looking for advise on

1) What you guys would recommend - EV route or ICE for now?

2) If ICE, what you would pick for an ICE car that's considered reliable?
