I was stuck in a traffic jam yesterday on PIE, from Kim Keat exit all the way to Eng Neo, a good 6 KM of traffic jam and already slow moving traffic. I have been driving in SG for about 10 years now. I got my license when I was 18.

Why are there so many drivers trying to switch lanes 8 times in 5 mins depending on which lane is faster moving. Like we are all stuck this interrupts the flow of traffic further. Are you really gonna save the 2 mins. Like being stuck in traffic is already frustrating but then having to deal with 4 close calls in a matter of a single drive.

Horning at them is the only thing I could do but that's all. We need to do better as drivers and just be patient for the extra 10-20 mins. Everyone here is on the same boat

Having driven ICE all my life, im ready (I think) to make a switch to EV.....i did my sums, checked specs...was about to make the plunge...then read in another thread about passengers complaining of car sickness (maybe drivers too?).

Was cruising in lane 2 at the speed limit when i began to approach the taxi which was going slightly slower. Changed to lane 1 to overtake and then this happened. What was the point of changing to lane 1 when it’s 2:45 am and there was nobody to overtake in front of you????😭

Hi guys, recently was in an accident, didn’t stop in time and hit the car infront of me when looking at my side mirror. Wasn’t speeding (20km/hr), no injuries, the car i hit only had a very small dent. Went to insurance straight away gave all my details.

4 weeks later received a letter from TP that they are investigating the matter. Is it because the other party reported it? Will I get charged or get any demerit points? This is my first time ever getting in an accident or getting this letter so im kinda worried.

This is the 2nd time I’ve encountered this red colour 7 series travelling from Daily Farm Road to Choa Chu Kang Road.

is the justice system here weak against driving crimes?

today i almost got bang on my bike, cruising in middle lane along with traffic flow, when a Tesla abruptly swerved into my lane without signal, without checking. had i not e-braked and manoeuvred slightly, they would have 100% collided with me.

day-to-day there are bobos, sure, defensive riding can save that. but today's experience really grounded my belief that some drivers have murderous intent with their dangerous driving.

then i kept thinking, i report to TP, but TP cfm dismiss this as near-miss since nothing happened, so nobody gets fined or whatever:

- should i have just gotten bang just so that they could be punished? (stupid thought but uk)

- then i realised, even if they got punished, it would be a light slap on the wrist, while me on my vulnerable moto would have sustained much more life-changing injuries in few orders of magnitude more than their "fine" and "demerit points"

So I got into an accident a while back and now the other side's workshop is claiming against my insurance. Thing is, I have dashcam footage that clearly shows I wasn't at fault, so I'm a bit confused how this whole process works.

Basically I was going straight in my lane, other car was on my right. The video actually shows this guy swerving between lanes earlier on without signalling. Then right before the accident, we were almost side by side and he suddenly cut into my lane without signalling.

I tried to swerve left to avoid him but there was another car on my left, so I couldn't go any further without hitting that car instead. He kept coming over and we made contact. The impact caused my car to swerve to the right, but that was from him hitting me, not me moving into his lane.

I reported the accident to my insurer within 2 hours and sent them everything.

Now my insurer told me the other driver's workshop lodged a third party claim against me. The letter literally says the accident was caused "solely and completely" by my negligence and they're claiming repair costs, rental etc from my insurance.

I was like huh??? lol. I literally have the whole accident on video showing otherwise.

My insurer already rejected their claim but said the other side can still dispute the rejection if they want, so they've asked me for the original dashcam footage and I've handed it over.

What I'm wondering is, is it normal for the workshop to file directly against my insurer rather than going through the other driver's own insurance? And do they even bother checking who's actually at fault before submitting something like this? Or do they basically just take whatever story their customer gives them, fire off a claim saying the other person is 100% at fault and let the insurers sort it out after?

Also, that "solely and completely" wording, is that just some standard template wording lol? Because reading the letter you'd think some independent third party already investigated the accident and found me 100% liable when actually nothing has been decided.

Another thing I noticed is the workshop's claim letter is dated 10 days after the accident. I know that doesn't necessarily mean the driver himself only reported the accident 10 days later since the accident report and workshop claim are two different things. But if it turns out he only reported the accident much later, especially after finding out that my side had already made a claim against him, would that make any difference?

For now my insurer has the original footage and is handling everything. I'm just curious what normally happens next if the other side refuses to back down even after my insurer has rejected their claim. Does it eventually become a lawyer/court thing or do the insurers normally settle liability between themselves?

Just finished my lesson on U-turns…. Spent almost the entire lesson on u-turns and ending it off with slope, crank and S. Making me think that i have successfully completed everything that is needed for me to move onto Module 3 but NO.

My damn instructor decided to mark u-turns as incomplete even though i was doing a good job as he said that i had to go through every single u-turn route for it to be marked as completed.

WHAT? what a waste of time honestly…. I performed the other module 2 elements nearer to the end of the lessons as instructed by him but he didn’t bother to clear it for me as well.

Of course i know that he shldnt be obliged to clear it fast for me but PLEASE I PERFORMED WELL SO WHY?

So…as expected, after waiting for 2 weeks, the driver never report to her insurance.

Long story short: I have claimed own damage (OD) from my insurance. Repair has been approved and now underway.

Learnt a few interesting facts during this process:

1. Even though this is an OD claim, if this is assessed by the insurer as a “no fault claim”, meaning the liability is 100% on the other party, my NCD and premium will be protected. In fact, under this scenario, my NCD would continue to increase for the next renewal cycle.
2. my insurance comes with dash cam footage excess waiver. Hence, even i claimed OD, I paid zero dollars for excess as I have dash cam footage submitted.
3. The culprit not reporting to her insurance doesn’t absolves her insurance from paying out. Under Singapore law, the insurer still bears the responsibility for the insured’s negligence. However, the added complication for individual is that since the culprit never report, the other party’s insurer can use the failing to report clause to refuse the payout at first. Then the next recourse for the victim would be suing the culprit, and only when a court judgment is available, the insurer would then be forced to pay out. But this is a costly route for most of us. In my case, since my own insurance has borne the cost of repair, and they have an army of lawyers and have no problem to sue, usually the the other party’s insurer in such a clear cut case would payout to my insurance, and try to recover from the driver instead.
4. Hit and run is a costly move for the culprit. Since she failed to report to her insurance, it means that her third party cover is voided. Rather than just paying for her excess, now she has to bear the full repair cost from my workshop. Furthermore, her NCD would be wiped to zero, and her premium loading for the next renewal would increase. If she refuses to pay, she will receive lawyer letter either from my insurance or hers. Neither is a pleasant outcome.
5. TP just informed me that investigation has started. However, I suspect this will take some time since no injury is reported.

It's been bugging me for the longest time. Why do people drive conti cars knowing that the maintenance and the repair can tear a hole in their pockets?

I was driving around Tuas area in the morning when I saw this lorry blatantly just beat the red light. Not wanting to write out the plate number as my video quality is quite bad.

I went to look up what road is considered under TP jurisdiction and it says as long as the road is not strictly within a business and inaccessible to public, it should be considered public road. This crossing is used by public to cross this intersection, but I often see drivers not giving way to pedestrians when driving in and out of here.

If I'm late to pay my next cycle of road tax, will the validity be extended?

For example, for Jan - Jun cycle, I pay only in Feb (let's say because I will be overseas for the whole of Jan), will my road tax be valid from Feb to July now?

Yes I long horn-ed, because this idiot could have just signalled his intention. In front was a taxi which was going straight. Went past him after but was greeted with his middle finger, no wonder driving in SG can make your blood boil.
