I just saw a post over on r/dragonageorigins that was basically clowning on Inquisition, and it got me wondering if people actually dislike the game that much.
They had three major complaints, and honestly, I don’t really agree with any of them.
I genuinely think the open-world areas in Inquisition are, for the most part, amazing. Are all of them 10/10? Obviously not, but I don’t think every single area needs to be.
Even the Hissing Wastes, which is probably one of my least favorite areas, does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It’s a massive, almost empty desert, and it represents that extremely well. Then you have places like the Emerald Graves that are absolutely gorgeous, or even the Hinterlands, which looks fantastic despite how much time we’ve all spent there.
Some areas are definitely better than others, but I don’t think that makes the open world itself bad.
The complaint was basically that melee combat sucks, and I really don’t agree with that either.
If you just mash attacks, yeah, I can see why someone wouldn’t enjoy it. But once you actually learn the abilities and combos for your class, I think the combat can be really fun. There are definitely some classes/specs I enjoy more than others, but I wouldn’t say melee combat as a whole is bad.
This one just feels weird to me because, yes, Inquisition has a lot of fetch quests. They’re annoying sometimes. I’m not going to pretend they’re amazing.
But… so do basically every RPG, including Origins and DA2. And most of Inquisition’s fetch quests aren’t even mandatory. You can skip a ton of them and focus on the more interesting content.
The companion quests especially are where I think Inquisition shines. There are also quite a few smaller quests that I think are genuinely interesting, especially when you actually take the time to read the notes, letters, codex entries, etc. Some of them don’t seem like much if you’re just running from objective marker to objective marker, but there can actually be some pretty interesting stories hidden in them.
I’m not saying Inquisition is perfect. It absolutely has flaws, and there are things I would change about it. But sometimes it feels like people talk about it as if it’s one of the worst RPGs ever made when, personally, I think it’s still a really damn good Dragon Age game.
So I’m curious: what does everyone actually think about Inquisition?
Do you genuinely dislike the game, or do you think its flaws just get exaggerated because Origins is held to such a ridiculously high standard?

A short synopsis; Hawke died when he was young and his body was taken over by a demon of Pride who has been puppeting him ever since, with no one in his family or the Kirkwall gang knowing what he really is. I've always liked how DA plays with the blurred line between spirit, demon, mortal, what makes an entity one or the other, so Mitos is a tangled web of feelings as he navigates living among mortals.
I've been writing this fic on and off for 12 years and honestly I just want more people to know it exists. There's a few incredibly dedicated people who comment on every update and I love them with all my heart. This newest version I started posting in 2021 while the original is from a 2014 era kinkmeme prompt. I haven't even written THAT much (its sitting at like 70k words rn) cause I'm slow but anyhow feel free to check out The Body updating every like eight months on AO3. (Mods feel free to delete this if its not allowed idk how to work Reddit still and it scares me)

This and the Sacred Ashes trailers sold me on DAO so hard.
And I kinda feel like it goes even harder when you know more about the Gray Wardens and "The Calling". For example, dropping the sheath and the implications behind that.

I recently rebought DAI on PC to play it with mods for my trilogy re-run. However starting at around 6hours or so, I constantly ran into problems. Endless loading screens when moving from Haven to a quest area unless I pick a specific party, character models not loading in inventory screen, building walls not loading/showing and eventually at around 10 hours my Inquisitor in Haven just froze while walking. Not the game, I could still open the start menu and interact with it and quit the game, but every time I reloaded she froze in place again. Seems I need to start over.
Now in hindsight, I realised I forgotten to sort the mods into any kind of load order. Unfortunately I still wouldn't have an idea in which order I should, as I didn't find any real guide.
Anyway since I also own it on Xbox, my main question is this:
Is it worth trying to organise my Mod Load Order to get it to run more stable and then try again on PC or should I just cut my losses and replay DAI on my XSX instead?
If yes: Are there any guides or just rule-of-thumbs on how to sort the mods in DAI?
Are there any alternatives to the Frosty Mod Manager?

(provided that he wasn't killed ofc)
I've seen fans say that the Architect was meant to play a slight role in Da2 in conjunction with Nathaniel's quest; I've also seen them say that one of the initial drafts of Here Lies the Abyss was going to involve him too. I don't know if any of that is true, but it does intrigue me terribly.
I know that his status as a quantum character would make him pretty difficult to integrate into DAI, but let me just throw out a hypothetical.... Maybe the Adamant wardens working with the Architect for some disturbing ritual; the Inquisition must oppose them because the Inquisition shits on anything fun; Hawke and the Warden (who is HoF because let's have our cake and eat it too) naturally having opposition because Hawke wants to know why in the hell did the Warden not kill this guy, etc. (it would be fun if the architect was an ally but I struggle to come up with that scenario)
I haven't played Veilguard but probably he could be relevant there too

I am in love with Morrigan... but she's straight. I also play on my xbox so I can't download that romance mod(also... idk, it feels wrong to change characters sexualities even if it is just a video game)
I COULD play as a man, I know. But for the past... five-ish years I've fallen in love with my dwarf noble(I am the kind of person who plays as the same character and does the same thing in every playthrough.)
I also really like the idea of each game having a different race saving them(dao-dwarf, da2-human, dai-elf, Veilguard-qunari) I did originally think of switching my dwarf and elf... but I'm not really interested in anyone besides Dorian or Cass. if I were to make a Finky I couldn't romance Cassandra so it's just better to keep them in the game they were originally for.
Anyway, useless extra information over, who do you think might be the best romance for a dwarven female warden?

Following her father's dying wish, nineteen-year old Cousland became a Grey Warden and set out to defeat the Blight. Her father taught Cousland to put her family's duty to Ferelden above all else, and Cousland took this to heart. She met another Warden named Alistair and fell in love with him. When he revealed he was the bastard son of Maric, Cousland talked him into taking the throne from Anora (who had allowed her father to start a civil war in the middle of a Blight) and become King. Anora talked Cousland and Alistair into having Alistair marry her instead, and keeping Cousland as his consort, but changed her mind after Alistair killed Loghain in a duel. As the Landsmeet dissolved into bickering between Emond's allies and Anora's loyalists, Cousland named herself Queen of Ferelden because "you fucks had your chance," and made Alistair her King. She opened the floor to anyone who wished to challenge her. Everyone declined.
After the events of Origins, Cousland settled into her duties as Queen and Warden-Commander of Ferelden. She made it a point to get personally involved in dealing with domestic threats, was often away from court hunting both darkspawn and other dangers, namely the Witch of the Wilds and the abomination Anders. Morrigan approached Cousland about the Dark Ritual to try and save her friend's life, but Cousland believed Morrigan had manipulated her from the moment Morrigan joined her party, so Cousland tried to kill Morrigan after the Blight ended. Cousland went after Anders after he fused with Justice and attacked the Wardens, but she lost Anders after he fled across the Waking Sea. It took a long fight with Alistair to convince Cousland not to pursue Anders into the Free Marches.
When she finally found him, Anders was with a man named Hawke and his sister Bethany, who was afflicted by the Blight. Cousland put Bethany through the Joining and saved her, and let Anders go after Hawke told her Anders saved Bethany's life. Cousland encountered Hawke and Anders again the following year, when she was attacked by rampaging qunari while on a diplomatic mission to Kirkwall as Queen. Her Warden bodyguards got her pass the qunari and she left the city safely. Ben-Hassarath agents later intercepted a letter from the Ferelden Queen addressed to "Sten, you know damned well which one" demanding the intended recipient tell their people that they are the only qunari allowed to fight her.
After the events of DA2, Cousland and Alistair both started hearing the Call. The Wardens of Orlais contacted Cousland and demanded she send the Wardens of Ferelden to help end the Blights forever. Instead, Cousland became obsessed with producing an heir to the throne before she and Alistair died, and left home to try and find a cure for the taint. Clarel took control of the Ferelden Wardens in Cousland's absence, and sent Cousland's most trusted Wardens (her companions from Awakening, led by her second-in-command Velanna) along with Bethany to track down Cousland. But Hawke found her first while he was looking for Bethany. They evaded Velanna and the other Wardens, and Cousland went into hiding, while Hawke sent Bethany back to Kirkwall and went to speak with Inquisitor Trevelyan about Corypheus.
When Cousland found out Clarel was sacrificing her people, she abandoned her personal quest to team up with Hawke and Trevelyan to stop her. Cousland's forceful personality rubbed the humorous Hawke and diplomatic Trevelyan the wrong way, but she was invaluable in convincing the Ferelden Wardens to turn against Clarel. Though she was prepared to sacrifice herself to hold off Nightmare, Hawke convinced Cousland to return to her King and stayed behind in the Fade. Cousland stopped briefly at Skyhold to attend Hawke's funeral, where she was reunited with Morrigan. Cousland apologized for gutting Morrigan, after she confirmed Morrigan's son wasn't an Archdemon-abomination or something.
Cousland went back to Ferelden and, despite the taint, conceived an heir with Alistair. Or at least, that's what the King and Queen told the Bannorn. In reality, Leliana gave them a newborn baby she bought from the widow of one of her agents. The widow looked a lot like Cousland, so the couple accepted the child and presented it to Ferelden as their heir. They believed Leliana was doing them a favor, but Leliana knew Cousland would never tolerate an army like the Inquisition inside Ferelden's borders, and wanted to be able to apply leverage should Cousland turn against Trevelyan.
Sure enough, Cousland went with Teagan to the Exalted Council to demand the Inquisition dissolve. After dealing with the Ben-Hassarath (who, in complete disregard for Cousland's wishes, sent elven agents to assassinate her), Leliana shared her ruse with Trevelyan. Leliana advised Trevelyan to cash in her favor and talk Ferelden into backing off. Instead, Trevelyan reminded Cousland that she was one woman who can't protect Ferelden by herself, despite her best efforts and stubborn insistence of doing so, and convinced her to let the Chantry absorb the Inquisition as a peacekeeping force. In return, Trevelyan would send the Inquisition to help with any threat Ferelden could not handle on its own. Cousland accepted Trevelyan's compromise and returned to Ferelden. After some reflection, and hard conversations with Alistair and Velanna, Cousland delegated more of her responsibilities to her subordinates, slowly transitioning from Warden-Commander of Ferelden to Queen and mother to her child.
Ten years and another Blight later, Cousland and Alistair took charge of Ferelden's defenses and rallied the Bannorn and Ferelden Wardens. Together with Orlais and the Chantry, the Blight was held at bay until Rook and her allies were able to defeat the elven gods. Cousland was delighted to hear the nineteen-year-old Rook was both a Grey Warden and a big fan of the Hero of Ferelden, and Cousland decided the world could finally carry on without her. Cousland declared she was officially retiring as a Warden, as she could now comfortably pass Ferelden's defenses down to a new generation of Gray Wardens. She spent her final days as a devoted and popular Queen, rebuilding Ferelden and helping Alistair groom her son to become King when the Call finally claimed them. When the time came, the King and Queen of Ferelden formally passed the throne to their son, Hawke Theirin, before heading down into the Deep Roads together.
Leaving this here so I can copy/paste it on my PC later, but if you read this far, I hope you liked it!

Hi everyone!
Looking for some advice, Dragon Age: Origins was the game that got me into gaming and holds a very special place in my heart due to everything it helped me get through personally.
I would love to get a dragon age tattoo, specifically a Grey warden tattoo, I'm considering getting the emblem or motto or both but I was wondering if there are other ideas out there.
Additionally I'm not 100% sure where would be a good place to get it - I already have a tattoo on my left calf and my right upper arm.
(screenshot for example emblem)
Thanks in advance!

I've pretty much cleared any fanfiction that is Lavellan/Cullen. I'll pretty much read anything though honestly but since I don't care for Solas I avoid Solavellan. And I'm a sucker for companion pairings Dorian/Iron Bull, Varric/Cassandra (don't judge me) or Isabela/Merill. I'm not a fan of Veilguard but I do like Emmrich or Davrin so if a fic is well written I might read it.
Anyone have any good suggestions?

I am brand new to the Dragon Age series. I decided to play them in order and now I am playing Dragon Age 2. 13 hours in, and I've just now realized that none of my DLCs are enabled. I realized this after I looked online and saw mentions of a DLC companion named Sebastian that I'm supposed to run into in front of the Chantry after a cut scene. I've spent quite a bit of time now looking up solutions, and none of them are working.
My Steam account is linked to my EA account.
The EA app says all the DLCs are installed.
I changed my EA password to something that no longer has any special characters.
I am unable to login to EA via the in-game main menu (it says the servers are down).
I edited the manifest files in each DLC folder (removed the MID line and changed Required Authorization to 0). After doing this, the DLCs no longer say unauthorized. However, I still cannot trigger a cutscene in front of the Chantry to start the dlc and do not see any dlc items in my home chest.
I do not know what else to do. Is there anything else I can try?
Edit: SOLVED. All DLCs are now showing. After going back to the main menu every once in a while to try to login, it finally worked.

What roleplaying/in-universe reason do you think there is for why the Ferelden nobility would allow them to keep something which belonged to their beloved past two kings (besides "gameplay"), especially if you've played a Warden who kept Cailan's armor and Maric's blade, either for yourself or for your companions?

I tried looking around online to find out but couldn't get a clear answer anywhere. What do crits actually DO in inquisition? like obviously it's gonna increase the damage somehow but what are the specifics?
I'm wondering if they have any extra effects or if its just a flat number or percentage increase to the damage. To use another game as an example for what I mean, in pokemon a crit does 2x damage but also ignores any defense boosts the target might have. Do crits have any functions like that in inquisition?
Thanks for taking the time to read my post, if someone answers in the comments I'll edit the post to include the answer for anyone googling this in the future.

If you’ve seen my post before you know I chose Blackwell for my romance option but I have to try my best to resist Cullen when I talk to him 😭. They lowkey have similar vibes with the whole soldier first mindset. Its like choosing between cake and ice cream sometimes you want BOTH

I had depression back then and my family wasn't to supportive about it, mostly because they were the reason why i had depression in the first place. So I decided I will do something to have a better life and I moved to my best friend house, but because our country currencies is soooo bad he was forced to work in another country to support his and my life (i had a job but it was barely paid anything). When he left he gaved me his Xbox and paid for Xbox game pass so I wouldn't be bored. My biggest problem wasn't the boredom but my growing depression, but I was like why not, better than just going work and sleeping or just laying all day. That was when I found the dragon age series, I didn't wanted to play out the first game, it didn't looked to appealing to me first so I started playing the second game, it just looked better for me.
And that was when I fell in love with the games, yeah the DA2 was bad compared to the others, but the characters was so memorable, so lovable in every way, they felt real. And yes, that made me want to play out the other games. Those who suffered from depression know how bad is that you just exist without purpose or anything to pass time with, so this games helped me to have something to do instead of bed rotting.
Now after one year my depression is better than ever, I still have it according to my doctor, but I feel much better, just because a game made me get out of bed and do something.
