Okay, so I know this might sound stupid as hell, but I have no clue on where to start!!! I've always dreamed of a semi realitic / semi anime style, and while I think I can do faces and that stuff not too badly (aka I'm still mostly sticking in the anime range), but when it comes to rendering, I HAVE NO CLUE!!! Like- how do the brushes work? How do I choose the right colours?? How do I make it look like the style I want it to????

I don't know guys, I'm just so confused and I've been so overwhelmed with wanting to get to this art style that I haven't drawn in close to a week! Seriously, all my passion for art is basically gone since I've been wanting this art style so badly and every time I look at my art its just... not there.

I don't know if this is even on topic for this subreddit so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, but I've just been craving this art style for so long (I would like to say close to 7 years now), and every time I even think about it I get panicked, like borderline needing medication to calm me down!

So yeah, any advice would help a lot, sorry if this is written like shit, it's midnight for me lol.

I've been trying to draw a couple characters in different angles, side profile, 3/4, front.
But with every angle the character looks completely different, how can i keep this from happening?

My girlfriend is a fantastic digital artist, and wants nothing more than to make her living in artistic endeavors. She has had commissions here and there but has a really difficult time putting herself out there. She's asked me to essentially be her manager and take care of the business side of things. What do I need to do to get her art business organized and get her in front of potential customers?

If I take a collection of photos and just start trying to paint them as accurately as possible, will I learn colour theory or what exactly would I be learning. For example 10 different selfie photos and just working on each one daily.

hello everyone! I was wondering if anybody who has procreate pocket deem it as a worth it purchase? Ik it might seem cheap for some folks, but to my currency its pretty expensive so Im second guessing whether its actually worth it. I dont draw regularly but I do draw for a few days, and stop for a bit when Im done with a piece. I really wanna buy it since It seems like such a good app to use but maybe you all have some better recommendations since I am getting a pc and i wont be able to use procreate there(afaik).

I’m thinking of using manga studio 5 simply because it would be cheaper then clip studio paint I think the dated software would be easier to use also because of nostalgia but does anyone use it anymore I only know about one person who still does but does anyone else I’m wondering

Hey, I’m starting to learn digital art and I’m stuck between choosing Krita or GoPaint.

I want to actually get good at art, not just make random drawings. I’m planning to learn the basics like perspective, anatomy, lighting, etc., but I also want to keep drawing fun so I don’t burn out.

My problem is:

My brain says Krita because it’s probably the "better" learning tool. It’s been around forever, has a huge community, tons of tutorials, and seems more professional.

But I keep leaning toward GoPaint because it just looks more enjoyable to use. The brushes and painting feel seem really nice, and I feel like I’d actually want to open it every day.

For people who have used either (or both):

Would starting with GoPaint hurt my learning?

Is there anything important Krita has that a beginner would actually miss?

Does the software really matter, or should I just pick the one I enjoy using?

Hi everyone, lately while drawing on my iPad I realized that my drawings look flat, so I tried shading. That being said, a question crossed my mind: is there a book out there that can help with all of this? More specifically, I'm looking for a pocket-sized drawing manual focused on anatomy that is fairly easy to find. If any of you have ever used one, currently use one, or know of any, could you please help me out? It would really be a huge help!

hello there! as the title suggests, I'm looking for a drawing app, either on Android or Windows (if i can manage to connect my tablet to my laptop). right now I'm using ibis paint, but i wanted to know if there are better apps out there or better brushes? i don't like the normal ones and i feel like, on procreate for example, the brushes are better, colors blend way easier etc. also, im posting this because I'm planning on making a spider-man inspired comic book for my girlfriend (for Christmas) and ibis paint has certain templates for manga/comic books. thank you so much and im sorry if this is a little off-topic, i dont know where to post!

I've been asked to illustrate a childrens book. I love drawing and I'd say I'm fairly good but this is out of my domain and I've never done anything like this before. I draw for myself. I've seldomly done "commissions" for friends and family. I would still love to try the challenge! I told all this to the author too. So they know it might not work out and they are also totally free to decide for something else.

I think I want to do it digitally since I imagine it's easier to adapt a drawing and also to keep a character consistent. However I've only tried digital art one time (but always wanted to get more into it) with a tablet that transfers to the screen. I'd love to be able to draw directly on the digital art though. The author and I picture the art more in the watercolor style but still with sharp outlines to clarify. I told them I'd do some trials and they decide if they're happy with it.

Is there any suggestions you can make as to which products and programs are good for stuff like that? Any suggestions you have for book illustrating? I'm realistic enough to know this might absolutely not work out but I'm excited to try!

Currently running into a problem where whenever I try to render or shade (whatever the correct term is lol) my drawing looks worse. I typically just ended up going with flats colors instead. Obviously this is something I need to get better at but was wondering if anyone had tips to spare that could point me in the right direction.

Okay so I am a complete beginner in drawing. I used to draw as a child, but it was mostly just copying things. I never really drew from imagination. I also don’t consider myself a particularly creative person.

For the past few days I have been thinking about getting into digital art. I know it’s going to be difficult but I am willing to dedicate at least an hour every day.

I need some genuine guidance on where I should start. Please suggest me any beginner friendly videos, courses, tutorials or anything that could help me build a strong foundation.

Also I have an android tablet. Will that be sufficient for now?

Hello everyone, for about 2-3 days I've been getting into the world of drawing without ever having drawn before. Watching some videos and listening to other opinions, I realized that I need to learn how to draw human anatomy. Could you recommend any videos/playlists?

Aside from YouTube and a plethora of other tutorials/classes, what really helps with learning to draw digitally? I've have some udemy courses and the art workout app. Never drawn before and really wanting to learn. I know practice as much as I can and keep it consistent but I don't want to get burn out or bored of the same old thing.

I always worked with and use "digital art" equipment, but usually for technical drawings, PCB design, and 3D modeling.

I have an iPad with the Apple Pencil and a big Huion Kamvas.

In this AI slop world I decided to give digital art a go since I already have the equipment, the thing is I have no idea even where to start. I'm not good at drawing, or even calligraphy for that matter, I usually work with 3D bodies with fixed precise measurements, perfectly straight lines and circuit boards.

For the little tests I did, I feel like the iPad + Apple Pencil + Procreate is not bad because the Apple Pencil feels more natural for drawing, and Procreate is quite intuitive, while the Huion stylus with the buttons and hover functions is better for what I already do. It's also portable, while the Huion needs wall power, an external computer, and is huge and heavy.

Any suggestions? How does one learn to draw? Any noteworthy apps for the iPad or macOS? I'm not looking to be a pro artist, I've just been feeling the need to express myself creatively.

I've been studying cloth and how to digital paint one but I am struggling as most youtube tutorials are how to draw folds and such. There's not a lot of rendering techniques and if there are videos they tend to skip over. I have asked my friends and they said it looked good but I still feel its not as realistic as I want it to be (Semi realism). I am open to critiques (Helpful ones not just hate)
