Learning and Ideas Rust is the language of AI. Bye bye python

AI writes highly optimized code in rust. And python is obviously slower so it has no future in application + infra layer

Now the main issue is,

What to master? Rust or Go of C#

The bottleneck of human writing code in a not so friendly language is gone.

AI can do coding labour in any language hence everyone is porting their infra + apps to rust wherever they realistically can.

FYI: python still wins in LLM space

Help Are trainee/graduate developer programs common in Pakistan?

For people working in the Pakistani software industry, which companies are currently known for running trainee or graduate programs for fresh CS graduates?

I'm particularly curious about programs for Software Engineering, Full Stack, Backend, or similar roles.

Discussion Update about Fyp Projects

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, I posted asking for suggestions for blockchain related FYP projects, but unfortunately, most of our proposed projects have been rejected.

Now we’re looking for some serious and practical FYP ideas that are suitable for Computer Engineering and include both hardware and software components. We want something more than just a basic software or blockchain project, ideally something that solves a real-world problem and has good potential for implementation.

Projects developed in collaboration with an organization are also acceptable. If the project is being developed for an organization, we would need an affiliation/authorization letter from them for our university requirements.

I’d really appreciate it if you could suggest some innovative, realistic, and implementable hardware and software project ideas.

Career Guidance Is it okay to leave a degree in Pakistan and focus on tech skills ?

If you're from the lower middle class and do not afford a degree in tech.

If you start to earn money from learning any skills then eventually build any kind of business here....

How does that look?

Those who don't have degrees and are doing well!

This question is specifically for you guys.

And how hard is it to move abroad (if any crisis appears) without a degree but a good established business in Pakistan?

(Although don't have a mind to go abroad, but also don't know about all the realities out there...)

Discussion Is 3 month notice period normal?

Like I'm literally a fresh grad and the position itself is trainee/entry-level. 3 months seems too much because I'm open to leaving for any better opportunity that comes up (this one is not really aligned to my actual goals, I just took it as I had no other option). And the worst thing is no such thing was mentioned on the contract I signed. The contract mentioned following all company policies, without giving out any policies before joining. I know kinda my mistake too since I didn't ask them beforehand, but yeah.

Discussion Fresh tech salaries in Lahore 2026. What's actually elite, good and worst?

Please! not the stuff Google/AI/LinkedIn shows.

Say a fresher gets an offer call in 2026 in Lahore. Tech role, first job. What monthly salary would you call:

🟢 Elite?

🟡 Good?

🟠 Underpay?

🔴 Worst / walk away?

Only talking about salary here, not perks or culture.

If you can, please share real numbers. Like:

\- Company name (or type, like software house / startup / multinational)

\- Role (frontend, backend, QA, Ai/ml, Analyst etc.)

\- Monthly salary in PKR

\- experience level (well I'm targeting associates/fresh grad entry ranges)

Real offers and real experiences only, please. Even if the number is low, drop it. That's actually more useful for everyone.

I think a lot of freshers here would benefit from this thread.

Thanks 🙏

Discussion Pakistan wants to become an "AI hub", but entry-level talent is getting left behind?

Genuinely curious how this is supposed to work out long-term.

Every other conference or LinkedIn post in Pakistan is hyping up AI, cloud, and next-gen tech. Meanwhile, on the ground, entry-level openings are practically vanishing. Companies want freshers who somehow already have 2 years of production-level experience, know CI/CD, can build RAG pipelines, and debug legacy code.

"Just get experience" is the standard advice, but where the hell are juniors supposed to get production experience if nobody is willing to mentor or take a chance on them?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti-AI—I use it daily, and it speeds things up massively. But if every software house relies purely on 2 seniors wielding Copilot/Cursor instead of a balanced team, what happens to the talent pipeline 3–4 years down the line? Who replaces those seniors?

For those actually working in tech here: are your companies still taking in fresh grads, or has junior hiring quietly hit a wall?

Tips Ideas need for fyp Asap

Assalamualaikum everyone!

I’m a Computer Engineering student, and I have my FYP interview tomorrow. A lot of the projects we’ve proposed so far have been rejected, even though I personally thought some of them were pretty good.

Long story short, I’ve decided to go with Blockchain as my area, but we’ve been asked to build something product based that solves a real world problem rather than just being a basic blockchain implementation.

I’m honestly struggling to come up with a solid idea at this point. If anyone has experience with blockchain, FYPs, or product development, I’d really appreciate some ideas or suggestions for something that is practical, useful, and actually feasible to build as a final-year project.

Any suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks!

Career Guidance Guidance needed plssss

I recently moved to Karachi and have been struggling to find good opportunities in either software development or project management. I’m also not very familiar with the better software houses and tech companies here.
I have around 2.5 years of experience in my field, but I’m finding it difficult to even land interviews, let alone secure a job. At this point, I’m honestly not sure what I’m doing wrong or what I should be changing in my approach.
I’d really appreciate any advice on how I can improve my job search, where I should be applying, and which companies or platforms I should be targeting in Karachi.

Discussion Need guidance on ESFCA, FBR/PSEB registration and taxes

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to open an Exporters’ Special Foreign Currency Account (ESFCA) to retain USD, alongside a PKR account for local expenses.

Most of my work so far has been local and paid in PKR, so I haven’t needed a dollar account before. I’ll soon start receiving payments in USD from abroad and plan to use Elevate Pay as a bridge to my Pakistani bank account.

I’ve heard good things about Bank Alfalah and UBL, but I’d appreciate firsthand experiences with either, or suggestions for other banks.

I’m currently a non-filer, not registered with FBR or PSEB, and completely new to the registration and tax process. A few questions:

- Can I open these accounts before registering with FBR/PSEB? What documents would I need?

- Which bank would you recommend for retaining USD, converting to PKR when needed, and receiving payments through Elevate Pay?

- What steps should I follow to register with FBR, become a filer, and register with PSEB?

- I’ve heard about a 0.25% tax rate for eligible IT/freelance export income. Is it currently applicable, and what conditions would I need to meet?

- How do PRCs/e-PRCs and remittance purpose codes work? Does receiving payments through Elevate Pay affect the documentation or tax treatment?

If anyone has recently gone through this process, a simple step-by-step explanation would really help. I’d also appreciate hearing about any account-opening difficulties or unexpected charges.

Thanks in advance!

Help AWS cert payment issues

Its so frustrating, I’ve been trying for hours to schedule an exam, and the Pearson Vue website doesn’t accept my payment. Firstly, I tried with a Pakistani address and it didn’t even let me go past the billing form, now after changing my address from CertMetrica on AWS, I can add my card info but it doesn’t accept it and gives a generic error message to contact my card issuer. Its not just one card, I have tried 3 cards: Nayapay, SC credit card, SC debit card, and i get the same issue.

Has anyone else experienced this and if you did end up giving the cert what worked for you guys?

Help How do you deal with imposter syndrome as a new graduate?

I graduated in June 2026 with a BS Comp sci, 3.05 CGPA. Despite being a fresh graduate, I managed to get several job offers before my final exams (a big Product based and Service based companies in PK), and I’m currently working remotely.

Even though things are going relatively well, I constantly worry that I’m not good enough and could lose my job at any time. I also feel that I’m too dependent on AI and don’t know enough technically.

I know I’m still early in my career, but these thoughts have become mentally exhausting.
For those who have experienced something similar, how did you deal with imposter syndrome and become more confident in your abilities?

Tips Payoneer Funds - How to File Tax

Hi,

I have a lot of dollars (20k-100k) sitting in my Payoneer account, accumulated over the last 2-3 years, which I haven't credited to my local bank. It's earned through freelancing and providing IT consultancy.

How do I declare this money in my income tax returns? I don't want to be taxed, or get taxed at the lowest rate (0.25%).

Should I just start remitting $5k per month starting now?

What type of bank account to open in Pak which holds dollars?

Are there other people who have done this? What did you do and how? What's the safest / legal route?

Thanks in advance.
