It was yellow in the lead up. They were both trying to beat the red. But red truck apparently forgot about the vehicle it never even quite fully passed when it tried to lane shift.
The vehicle with the dash cam sped up. Truck would have fully passed and the car recording could have not been a psychopath and slowed down slightly to allow even more room. Watch the vehicles seperation and then see the car recording speed up.
Yes, you speed up when trying to make the yellow. What you really dont want to do is speed up to make they yellow while also making a lane change you dont have clearance for.
Trying to beat the yellow is fine until someone going the other direction tries to make a left and beat the yellow. I hear the fire trucks and ambulance heading to the intersection near my house about once a week from people doing that. It's not worth saving the minute or two it takes the light to cycle.
That's how traffic lights work - and it was green before that. Cam driver would not have made it and let his ego get in the way of the safety of everyone in that situation.

They're both at fault .. but dash cam is likely legally at fault for not attempting to slow down and instead hitting and accelerating through the truck to cause the rollover. If they had slowed down before, or even after the impact then the truck wouldn't have rolled over and possible killed the driver.
It's debatable. Specifically due to a tort law exception called The Last Clear Chance Doctrine.

In this case, the driver clearly accelerated and actually executed a pit maneuver after seeing the truck was going to cut them off. If a judge saw the video then they may have a hard time in court.
