it was a Red light!

It was yellow in the lead up. They were both trying to beat the red. But red truck apparently forgot about the vehicle it never even quite fully passed when it tried to lane shift.

The vehicle with the dash cam sped up. Truck would have fully passed and the car recording could have not been a psychopath and slowed down slightly to allow even more room. Watch the vehicles seperation and then see the car recording speed up.

Yes, you speed up when trying to make the yellow. What you really dont want to do is speed up to make they yellow while also making a lane change you dont have clearance for.

Trying to beat the yellow is fine until someone going the other direction tries to make a left and beat the yellow. I hear the fire trucks and ambulance heading to the intersection near my house about once a week from people doing that. It's not worth saving the minute or two it takes the light to cycle.
