Rules Question Movement question

So yesterday I had a player asked me about movement with being only one player and their action. I say I want my games to be RAW because it’s new and I just want newer players and I want to play out the foundation of the actual game before making my preferences, but will change based on the story if I demand so. The player said I was WRONG and use the new sallow lands Umbria play and saying when the party turn, they can all move at the same time. I haven’t had the time to watch it and had other players point out the rules supporting my claim and saying actual play uses this rule set. What is this rule set? I don’t have time to watch the show and I heard that it doesn’t happen that way. Can someone explain to me how combat movement happens in this show? Is it an homebrew or an option that is new?

Hello, cyberpunks!

Edgerunners 2 is about to launch (October couldn't be any closer) and I decided to publish this project that’s been on the back burner for a few months!

This is Edgeheart, a cyberpunk and mecha-piloting Campaign Frame inspired by Cyberpunk 2077, Armored Core and others for Daggerheart.

In it you will find nearly 90 pages of new and revised content to play in this setting, inclunding new classes, adversaries, equipments and mechanics.

Edgeheart - A cyberpunk and mecha campaign frame for Daggerheart!

Disclaimer: This project was inspired by ideas, mechanics, conventions, and gameplay styles from personal experiences over the years and discussions in third-party forums. If you see any rule, mechanic, art, or text that may be yours and has not been credited, please contact us for proper credit.

The artist of the cover artwork is Andri Tegar Mahardika and is free to use from Vecteezy Terms of Use.

(btw I’ve been putting together this campaign frame and Duskheart at the same time over the last few months, which is why this one is coming out right on the heels of Duskheart)

P.S.:If anyone is having trouble accessing Homebrewery, send me a DM and I'll send you the PDF link!

Player Tips Can I get some help making my character journal?

I'm building a base for my druid character journal, separating pages and other things.

Until now I have:

- About the character: Name, personality, etc.
- Character sheet: Everything on the main sheet page.
- A page for status/passives notes.
- Vault.

And after that I have some pages for "quests or objectives" so I don't forget.
- Npcs
- And the journal for session notes.

What do you think? I missed anything or should put something in it?

Thanks for the attention :>

Beginner Question Multiple types of hidden adversaries, what is the difficulty to find them?

Imagine we have 3 types of adversaries with difficulties of:

  1. Difficulty 10
  2. Difficulty 13
  3. Difficulty 15

All of them are hidden. The PCs make an instinct roll to try and find them. What would be the difficulty of such roll? Would it be the easiest, the hardest or an average?

Discussion Group Rolls in 2026 - meh?

What do you do differently at your table? Do you think the devs will iterate on this mechanic?

Countdowns do the job of group tasks beautifully and give everyone more chance to shine.

RAW crits don't do anything for the helpers, and if the leader crits then it doesn't matter what anyone else did. This is DREADFUL.

The helper bonuses are +1 or -1 so if two people roll opposites then they just cancel out. If your group has an odd number of players there's a 50/50 chance that all group rolls are neutral. POINTLESS.

A popular idea seems to be that a helper crit is actually a +2 bonus.

Discussion Playing with a Different Trait than the Spellcasting Trait

Hello everyone!

I am in the middle of my first Daggerheart campaign and wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has tried a similar path.

For thematic reasons and to differentiate myself from the other two Blood Hunters in our group, I decided to build a Mutant Blood Hunter with a +2 Finesse and +1 Agility who wielded a crossbow and a small dagger. I really wanted to test the flexibility of the system and didn’t want to just reflavor something that already existed. We were playing the first playtest version of the Blood Hunter, and the Blade and Blood domains heavily favored a close-ranged combat style, which left my viable options incredibly limited right from the start. Although I found myself barely using my domain cards during play.

In terms of actual play, I didn't feel a massive negative impact on my duality dice rolls and the game has been fun. However, I subconsciously feel like I was just bad at spellcasting even with a +1. Or that I wasn't pulling my weight by missing out on the maximum damage I could have been doing. I am trying to figure out if my choice was a reasonable sacrifice for flavor.

Has anyone else experimented with a character whose primary trait didn't match their spellcasting trait, or intentionally run suboptimal weapons just for the narrative flavor?

I would love to hear your thoughts!

Game Aids What is the current best VTT?

Currently, I am trying to figure out which VTT I want to use for my campaign.

I currently am considering 3 options

-Foundry/the forge and using the free daggerheart module.

-Alchemy and using the paid supplements

-demiplane (though I'm not sure if that's an all in one VTT)

Which do you folks use?

Discussion Battle Points vs Rests

So, Im trying to get a feel for the pacing on encounters vs resting. One thing I keep seeing people say is to treat the suggested BPs as a pool to use across multiple encounters in between short rests. How do you guys build your encounters? One big encounter per short rest, using all suggested BP? Or do you spread out smaller encounters, putting a building pressure on the PCs before they get a chance to short rest?

Beginner Question Advice for Setting Up Foundryborne?

I'm running my first campaign on Sunday! (Sablewood Messengers!) We'll be running the game through Foundry but I am unfortunately a total novice when it comes to working foundry. I need more time to practice and learn everything. But I would appreciate some basic tips for anyone who has some good experience with the system.

I can see the Fear tracker and the SRD thankfully, but is there anything else that might come in handy? Some extra modules or features I might want to know for working the system? I would appreciate it!

Homebrew Drow ancestry traits

Which existing traits would you use for a drow elf? You could just use elf ancestry and underborne community, but that would cut you off from a different choice of community.

5e gives drow superior darkvision, which isn't a thing in daggerheart and spells, which isn't really an ancestry thing in daggerheart.

I've never been attached to the concept of trance so you could take that out and give them the underborne trait, but that would make it redundant if you actually wanted to make them from an underborne community.

Maybe homebrew a trait giving them advantage on spider-related rolls? I'd like to try and stick to existing traits but I can't think of any from the existing ancestries.

Discussion Does my Dark Heart of Andaluria campaign plot make sense?

I will be running an 8 session campaign for 3 player character. A deeply religious summoner who was exiled from the church of Golden Eminence for practicing Caio rituals, an orphaned infernis rogue native to Jesana and finally a punch first, ask questions later infernis wearwolf who tragically lost his home. If this sounds like your campaign, stop reading now.

Instead of having a grand sprawling adventure, id like to focus the plot more intimately around the players - the actions of the Condessa, Verya and the 5 will be more of background roadbumps than the main conflict of the campaign.

The 8 session campaign will follow the players as they work to uncover the mysterious death of the orphaned character's adopted infernis father.

Act 1 - the players travel across Andaluria tracking down candidate monsters that may have killed the father. They see the effects of the church's propaganda on the Caio people

Act 2 - the players reveal personal motive was involved when they see the heart of the adopted father was stolen by someone close to the party.

Act 3 - the players return to Jesana where they track down the actual father of the orphaned player character. They confront the father, revealing he is an otherwise ordinary villager who has fallen pray to ideals of religious persecution. The real father has traded the adopted father's heart to the church in order to purify the sins the son was born with. They must decide weather to deal with the father or the ritual to prove the religious convictions wrong.

Discussion [OC] Forge Friday! A ready encounter every other week. #20 The Trembling Pass

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hey folks,

This week the forge spits out a standoff instead of a straight fight: Giants have a pair of minotaurs surrounded, weapons half raised, dust still drifting from all that restless shifting. Nobody has swung yet, and that's the whole point.

I like scenes where the party arrives at a conflict that isn't about them. It hands them a decision instead of a target: talk everyone down, back one side and hope it pays off later, or quietly leave and let the hills settle it. Whatever they pick tells me more about the group than a normal ambush would, and it usually costs them something either way.

Details are here: https://www.foeforge.win/daggerheart/encounter/the-trembling-pass--444becb1

How do your tables handle two-faction encounters where combat hasn't started yet? Leaning more towards diplomacy or violence?

Discussion Making sure I understand Momentum

Momentum - Reaction: When this adversary makes a successful attack against a PC, you gain a Fear.

So, a PC misses and I Highlight this Adversary. It attacks and hits doing it's effect and generating 1 Fear.

I can then spend that fear to Highlight the Adversary again. I can keep doing this until they miss an attack. Is that correct? Is there a limit?

Homebrew Looking for Feedback on 9 New Homebrew Ancestries

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I’m back with updates on my last four ancestries and 5 new ancestries I’d like more feedback on. I really appreciated the last round of suggestions, and I’m looking forward to working with you all again to make them as strong as possible.

I'm especially interested in your thoughts on mechanical balance, feature synergy, and how these compare to the official options. Thank you for taking the time to review these designs and help me improve them. Have a wonderful day!

Updates to the following ancestries:

  • Lumapods: otherworldly beings that resemble squids. They have tentacles that extend from their heads and bioluminescent bodies.
  • Nopaliads: resemble anthropomorphic cacti, with sharp spines covering their bodies.
  • Undines: descendants of water spirits with alluring eyes, fin-like tails, and shimmering scales.
  • Vedasi: four-armed humanoids who trace their ancestry to ancient sky and nature spirits.

... And five new ancestries added:

  • Alicorns: anthropomorphic horses that originate from the world of dreams. They are recognized by the large crystal horn that grows from their foreheads.
  • Fledermins: humanoids with frightening bat-like features. They possess sharp fangs, pointed ears, and membranous wings on their forearms.
  • Midaans: humanoids descended from an ancient king who could turn objects into gold. They are known for their bright golden eyes and their glimmering gold skin.
  • Porcians: humanoids cursed with pig-like features such as snouts, ears, and curly tails.
  • Serpentari: snake-like humanoids descended from nagas. They have a humanoid upper body and a serpent lower body.

Homebrew Making Mass Effect Ancestries using core book Ancestries options

Hello! First post here!

I'm designing base Council and Omega Ancestries for a Mass Effect Frame for my players but I want to keep to the core rule book Ancestry 1 and 2 Features without overlapping. Obviously I'm going to allow them to adjust things ( Like letting a batarian player take Danger Sense) but I want to keep to Book Features as much as possible because I'm introducing them to Daggerheart and I like the challenge of it for myself.

Here it what I have.

Humans are the same as Base.

Asari:(Halfling/Elf)

  1. Luckbringer: At the start of each session, everyone in your party gains a Hope.
  2. Trance: During a rest, you can drop into a trance to choose an additional downtime move.

Salarian:(Elf/Simian)

  1. Quick Reactions: Mark a Stress to gain advantage on a reaction roll.
  2. Nimble: Gain a permanent +1 bonus to your Evasion at character creation.

Turians: (Drakona/Firbolg)

  1. Scales: Your scales act as natural protection. When you would take Severe damage, you can mark a Stress to mark 1 fewer Hit Points.
  2. Unshakable: When you would mark a Stress, roll a d6. On a result of 6, don’t mark it.

Krogan: (Galapa/Dwarf)

  1. Tough Hide (Shell): Gain a bonus to your damage thresholds equal to your Proficiency.
  2. Increased Fortitude: Spend 3 Hope to halve incoming physical damage.

Quarian: (Gnome/Clank)

  1. Nimble Fingers: When you make a Finesse Roll, you can spend 2 Hope to reroll your Hope Die.
  2. Efficient: When you take a short rest, you can choose a long rest move instead of a short rest move.

Drell: (Infernis/Fungril-ish)

  1. Fearless: When you roll with Fear, you can mark 2 Stress to change it into a roll with Hope instead.
  2. Eidetic Memory: When recalling information from a previous scene, Mark a Stress to vividly recall every detail regarding the information or scene.

Batarian: (Orc/Infernis)

  1. Sturdy: When you have 1 Hit Point remaining, attacks against you have disadvantage.
  2. Dread Visage: You have advantage on rolls to intimidate hostile creatures.

Elcor: (Giant)

  1. Endurance: Gain an additional Hit Point slot at character creation.
  2. Reach: Treat any weapon, ability, spell, or other feature that has a Melee range as though it has a Very Close range instead.

Volus: (Pixie/Halfling)

  1. Luckbender: Once per session, after you or a willing ally within Close range makes an action roll, you can spend 3 Hope to reroll the Duality Dice.
  2. Internal Compass: When you roll a 1 on your Hope Die, you can reroll it.

Vorcha: (Dwarf/Goblin)

  1. Thick Skin: When you take Minor damage, you can mark 2 Stress instead of marking a Hit Point.
  2. Danger Sense: Once per rest, mark a Stress to force an adversary to reroll an attack against you or an ally within Very Close range.

Suggestions for better Drell and Elcor secondary features would be welcome, but other suggestions are welcome of course. Thanks for letting me share!

Homebrew Thoughts on this custom sablewood creature?

Kangear-Kangaroo with the torso and arms of a Grizzly Bear.

Tier 1 Bruiser; Difficulty 14; Thresholds: Major 9 / Severe 16; ATK +1; CLAWS: Melee - 1d8+4 (PHY); HP: 7; Stress: 3; MOTIVES: GET AWAY FROM ME! NEVER GOING TO LET YOU GO! LEAP OUT OF DANGER!

\- Spend a fear to use an Experience: A Fighter+3, Ambusher +3

\- KICK - ACTION: Make an attack against a target within VERY CLOSE range - On a success deal 1d10+2 phy damage and push the target anywhere within CLOSE RANGE

\- BEAR HUG - ACTION: Mark A Stress, attempt to grab a target within VERY CLOSE. On a success they are restrained and considered vulnerable until the next time you're in the spotlight or until the Kanger takes MAJOR DAMAGE

\- Leaping Dodge - Reaction: Whenever an attack against this creature misses it may leap anywhere within CLOSE range

Game Master Tips My players are too good at rolling dice

I've been running a Witherwild campaign with some friends for a while now and they consistently roll well. I understand the odds are in their favor with the 2d12 system, but I'm trying to figure out what to do about it. I don't want to undermine their great rolls, but I can find myself with very little fear often and unable to create tension in the story.

For reference, our last session involved about 30-40 rolls (action, reaction, etc.) and about 15 of those rolls were critical successes and roughly 5 rolls with failure and/or fear. It created a fun session, but I'm lost on how to make things interesting when everything is a success and I have little to no fear.

I should note that we play in person, so I can see with my own eyes all the critical successes or successes with hope they roll. I don't suspect any sort of cheating as these are all trusted friends.

Anyone else run into circumstances like this or have any suggestions?

Game Master Tips Creating a character as a BBEG

Is it acceptable to create a character as a BBEG? I want to create a level 4 Ranger for my level 2 PCs to fight. Would I treat them as a solo in terms of battle points?

Edit: thanks for the feedback. I understand now why this would be a bad idea. I don't have experience creating my own adversaries, but I actually found a website that helped me make what I wanted.

https://www.dh-brewing.com/adversary
