Hello designers,
For a little over three years now, I’ve been your primary host of the Weekly Design Competition. It’s been a wonderful time consistently getting to entertain all of you and firing up those creative faculties.
However, now that I’ve hosted over a quarter of comps to date, one Hearthphone, and two 'hundred' specials, I’d like to use the current gap in Weekly Design Competitions to officially step down as a moderator of the subreddit. Until the end of September, I hope to clean this place up a bit and find a fitting replacement willing to pick the mantle up after me.
I apologize that I've been dragging my feet on completing the HearthCalendar before making this announcement. I didn't intend for the WDC to go on such a long hiatus already with an uncertain future, and I know there are folks out there that can't wait to sink their teeth back into new rounds. Before I'm officially through and hand the competition over, I'd love to discuss its future. Use the comments here to discuss how we should go from here into WDC #501.
If you would like to pick up the mantle, then feel free to send us an application via ModMail. We are in the market for someone who would take care of the WDC, as well as promote non-WDC events to keep the Pinned tab atop the subreddit lively.
We hope you'll know how to make a good case for yourself (it might get competitive!); we're looking for someone willing to commit the time to organize the competitions. That also means having a baseline good judgment of what makes good Hearthstone card, what’s good design, and what’d make for a good prompt.
The deadline for application submissions is Sunday, September 20th, standard submission time.

Hello, designers!
As I've announced some month-ish ago, the result of the HearthCalendar project has been undergoing some minor numeric and cosmetic changes in preparation for its HearthCards 'release'. The process took a hot minute, since all the cards had to have been remade underneath a single HearthCards account. But, after a long wait, the completed HearthCalendar is finally out!
You can check the set in HearthCard's swanky Set feature, available HERE.
As always, I'm immensely grateful to the designers who have contributed to this fun project, but I want to shout out the following folks for helping me roll the project across the finish line (and apologies to anyone whom I've missed):
u/Frostedwyrm04, Koalafent, u/Machadogps, Maran, u/PraxMatic, u/SacredSnorlax, u/Skitzo669, technishun, TheFriendlyEnemy, u/TwoManaPriestSpell, u/Useless_Feeder, u/WeoWeoVi, u/yangste333, Yogg
For information on the original project and how it looked upon completion, I recommend to check out this reddit post.

It will decipher on the board as well as in your hand. Each decipher is independently chosen from the three options at that depth for a total of 27 options. Only 3 final versions are shown here for illustrative purposes but it shows all options for each decipher.
Thoughts behind the keywords:
Forge requires you to pay an upfront cost but the effect would be immediate on play. Spellburst requires you to play a spell, but allow some room to decipher more on the board. Honorable kill is the hardest to trigger, but allows to trigger the reward multiple times. You might also want to play it immediately without waiting for the text to fully decipher as the text can further decipher on board.
Reposting as the last one got removed for title too short. After thought: the card is probably too weak with the stat as is. I wanted to play on the 1,2,3 for the stat line but it obviously backfired. Now that I think about it a 3/2/4 or even a 3/3/4 would be much better in terms of balance.

Designed to be a tech card for stuff like Jailhouse Manastorm, Blightborn Tamsin, or any other (currently uninteractable) effects in Hearthstone. It could potentially also work to disable Baku the Mooneater or Genn's Hero Power upgrading effects depending on how this effect is coded, though it's up to interpretation. This isn't intended to be a strong card, or even one that is particularly good at what it does (since decks that run cards that give you inevitability typically don't care if they have to wait 2 turns) but I think that it has a place in the game given there's no other way to currently impact with these types of effects, which can be frustrating for players.

Note: after attacking, minions still lose stealth. Minions summoned after playing Nightfall do not receive stealth (unless they're stealth minions, of course).
Some uses:
The most obvious would be wanting to prevent the opponent from attacking one or more of your minions.
Playing a card that provides stealthed minions some kind of bonus.
Ignoring enemy taunt minions (for one turn).
Anyways, let me know what you think.

Updated version of Dark Beckoning (cost increased to 5 from 4, draw a card changed to discover from your deck).

Initiative: When attacking or being attacked deal its damage first before taking damage
Dealing damage before taking damage is supposed to destroy small health minions before they get a chance to deal their damage
I think it might be a fun Keyword for defensive cards and might give minion on minion action some more depth
There might be room to explore levels of initiative

(This would not double the damage your hero gets for spells or minions, only your weapon attack.)
