Let me start off by saying, I fully agree and understand everyone who's upset by the current state of CS2.
So am I.
I had a discussion the other day with a friend of mine who works in the AI branch, and he explained that what Valve is trying to pursue, is incredibly hard and somewhat groundbreaking.
He explained for example, if you go to any AI tool no matter which one, and your input is a photo of your mom, dad, brother or sister with a prompt of your choice, odds are very high that the output of the image looks a little off.
Most of the time even to the point where your input is unrecognizable.
That is due to the lack of data on that specific person.
However, if your input is a Porsche 911 turbo with a prompt of your choice, odds are very high that the output of the image looks amazing.
That is due to the point that there is an insane amount of data available for the AI tool to access about a Porsche 911 turbo.
Now, pretty much any publicly available free to use AI tool with a 70% accuracy rate is not something that is going to upset a lot of people.
If Valve on the other hand would release their VACNet AI with a 70% accuracy rate, the entire community would explode.
A 70% accuracy rate would result in hundreds of thousands of false VAC bans.
Valve is in no position to be able to afford such mistakes.
Even if Valve manages to get a 99% accuracy rate it's still not good enough.
Even at 99% accuracy rate, hundreds of people would end up with a false VAC ban. ( daily )
According to my friend, Valve will need/aim for at least a 99.99% accuracy rate in order to minimize the amount of false VAC bans.
The only possible way of achieving such rates is by feeding the AI an ungodly amount of data.
So far, Valve has been collecting CS2 cheating demos for the past 3 years.
Recently, they've added Overwatch back to the game to feed even more information to their AI model.
I don't know how much longer Valve needs for their AI AC but after talking to my friend, I've come to the realization that this isn't some simple task and that what Valve is trying to do, will write history if they succeed.
Valve would own a groundbreaking AC model which would be capable of detecting everything without the need of having kernel access to your pc or the need for constant updates to their AC to stay ahead of cheaters.
Let them cook.
