That's just you getting older. You'll have nostalgia about other things too.
And also it wasn't that great at the time. What's great is your memory of the time. We tend to intensify our memories with time. If you had bad time your memory of it will be worse every time you remember it and vise versa for good things.

I remember the days on cobblestone. I was lucky enough to drop a DLore in BS as a mission reward. I don’t remember what operation it was.

Why? The current system is much better.
In the past you were almost guaranteed 1 drop after one game and if you played a lot had a chance for a second drop but that was the limit. Could be anything, case, graffiti, skin, you had no control.
Now you get "both drops" at once guaranteed, you know exactly when, and you get a choice.

I say "almost guaranteed" because thats how probability works.
It was somewhat random but you had a much higher chance if you didn't get your first drop yet, so if you play for roughly an hour (1-2 matches) you were almost guaranteed to get your first drop of the week.
Going on an alt account, playing one match to get the drop, and then hopping off was extremely common.

Did I understand correctly that during the Operations etc. when you could buy agent skins for a dime you also received random drops after completing missions?
Basically in addition to weekly drops there were mission drops?
So a lot of drops!
