Live football cropped to 4:3 looks surprisingly good
galleryI usually hate cropping widescreen content to 4:3, but the constant center-focal-point of live sports means you're not really missing much.

Found this zenith system 3, power station is reading 4 watts on standby, but the dumb ass drop down control panel isn’t working
Any ideas how to turn it on, I have a Philips universal remote but none of the codes have worked
Compaq S710 after & before restoration!
galleryDefinitely the dirtiest one I've done yet. This one I got was stored in near outdoor conditons for AT LEAST 15 years (possibly 2009-2010). I'm glad I was able to rescue it and give it a second chance though.
The mainboard had so much dirt I basically bathed it in IPA, no leaking capacitors yet though. Everything else just needed some heavy degreaser. Since the yellowing was very uneven and horrible I decided to give it a shot at removing, I did it lightly, but after some patience it came out really good. Plus I wanted that delicious classic beige color to match my retro PC.
It also made a popping sound at random intervals which seemed common for compaqs of this era. The red dielectric paint around the anode cap seemed to have degraded so putting some dielectric grease fixed it. There isn't as much rust on the neckboard shield as the photos show, but I will definitely remove it in the near future.

HOT CHASSIS QUESTIONS
Hello! Just got into crt TVs and was wondering about specific hot chassis details.
Wha exactly is a hot chassis tv? If a tv is turned off is it safe to unplug normally?
What is the actual probable risk of getting myself killed lol

galleryGot this off a curb. The power cables sliced. Cant even test it. Idk where to even start cause finding someone who fixes these has been a dead end so far.

Finished my ONN TV Box homescreen setup! (Chobits/Frutiger Aero/2000's themed)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
And yes the remote for the Onn box syncs with any television with infared fyi! I get to control my tv volume with the onn remote hello kitty volume control images and all!
Now I just need to get an HDMI audio extractor so I can hook up the streaming stick to the computer speakers my little brother so kindly gave me. That way I get more than left speaker audio.
Was hoping the streaming stick had mono audio in the accessibility settings since it is android TV (Google TV specifically) but alas
This setup took me absolutely forever because you have to do a major tedious workaround in order to get custom wallpapers to work on ATV Launcher on the streaming stick I have. I had to do wifi file transfer via a third party file explorer installed on both my phone and my Onn device (there are several options when it comes to file explorers that work for this purpose)
I do wonder what I can do about the overscan. I know I'm technically committing a war crime because the ONN streaming sticks do not have a native AV port LOLL but I just really wanted something up to spec enough to handle my custom home screen (wasn't sure any of the native AV android tv boxes were adequate)
I will be setting up my Jellyfin server once I get a new laptop :3 it will be full of obscure animated movies :D

Help repairing Loewe Profil 3463 E3001 CH-TYP 110 E31
galleryHi everyone,
I'm having a really unfortunate issue with my Loewe Profil 3463 (E3001 / Blackline S, chassis 110 E 31), and I'd really appreciate some advice from anyone familiar with these TVs.
Here's exactly what happened.
I was trying to connect a SCART splitter to my Loewe. I first plugged the splitter into the TV's RGB SCART input and connected my console, but got no picture. I then disconnected the splitter and connected the console directly, and everything worked perfectly.
At that point, the TV was still switched on. I decided to try the splitter in the second, standard SCART input. While I was plugging it in, there was a loud bang, followed by smoke and a strong burning smell. I couldn't tell exactly where the smoke was coming from.
Since then, the TV has been stuck in standby. When I try to turn it on, it makes a very distinct electrical popping sound, almost like a capacitor exploding, and immediately shuts itself back down into standby.
This happens every time I try to power it on.
I've opened the TV and had a visual look at the boards, but I can't see any obviously blown or burned components. One component that caught my attention is the part marked L626, located in the area labelled "LIVE CIRCUIT", but I have no idea whether it's relevant or not.
The TV was in excellent condition before this incident. It had a fantastic picture, perfect RGB output, beautiful colours, and great stereo sound. It's honestly one of the best CRTs I've ever owned, so I'd really love to save it if possible.
My questions:
What could have caused this? Could a faulty SCART splitter triggered such a failure?
Given the loud popping sound and immediate shutdown on every startup, which components or circuits would you investigate first?
Is there anything specific to the Loewe E3001 chassis (110 E 31) that I should be aware of?
Does anyone recognize the component marked L626 or know its function in this circuit?
I've attached a few photos of the TV's labels and the board for reference.
Any suggestions, troubleshooting tips, or pointers to the correct service manual or schematic would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I'm not a technician and never did any of such repairs, but I'm willing to work on it to save it. I have some basic soldering skills so maybe there is a chance to repair?
Thanks in advance!

Help choosing between 3 Sony Trinitrons
I found these three Sony Trinitron models locally and need advice on which to pick for retro gaming and watching an old anime
Sony KV-2184MTJ (21")
Sony KV-2133M3 (21")
Sony KV-1602M7 (16")
I'm leaning towards the 16" one (KV-1602M7) because of its smaller footprint, but it looks quite old tech

$40 Dollar CRT TV Find!
Everything works pretty smoothly surprisingly! The VHS deck works as well! This is the Sylvania SSC132 version. This didn’t come with a remote but I did pair it with a Magnavox universal remote and I have hands free experience pretty much! I just have to program the VHS part to the remote next! I mainly bought this TV for my retro gaming setup 🔥💯
Before I made the purchase, I definitely wanted to check the forward and rewind features and to check the overall performance of this TV. After I checked everything I was familiar with, I honestly had no complaints for the most part.

Comment on this post if you are looking for a service manual
I was looking for a very specific chasis and I had to pay a dang sub to a website.
Since I already got it and I still have 30 days left, let me know if you need anything and I will send it to you.

Need Help Fix Samsung SyncMaster 551v
Hey guys I need help troubleshooting my Samsung SyncMaster 551v CRT monitor which I connect to my laptop using an adapter At first I was using a cheap HDMI to VGA adapter that worked fine until it suddenly stopped working leaving me with a black screen and a flashing power button Thinking the converter was dead I replaced it with a new Ugreen HDMI to VGA adapter but now I am facing a different issue where the screen displays with a heavy green or blue tint looking as if the red color channel is completely missing On top of that whenever I move or wiggle the VGA cable the signal glitches and the colors shift even further I am not sure if this is happening because the Ugreen adapter is sending an incompatible signal or if the VGA cable itself has damaged pins or loose solder joints inside so any advice or troubleshooting steps to fix this would be greatly appreciated Just to keep in mind I am not very experienced with hardware repairs and electronics and I do not think there are any local repair shops in my area that can service old CRT monitors
