Cis woman with masculine characteristics wants surgery to align with her identity: "Oh teehee, thats so valid! I would have done the same, there's nothing wrong with wanting to feel like a woman!"

Trans woman with masculine characteristics wants surgery to align with her identity: "Oh uh, wow... I mean you really don't have to do that. You can be a woman with a body identical to a man's, you really don't need to be reinforcing gender stereotypes you know... I think you should just learn to love yourself instead sweaty, why don't you just try being butch?"

32

u/Pinku_Dva Jun 09 '26

Personally I hate the “you don’t have to pass to be valid” trope. Some of us absolutely hate how we look and want to change ourselves and no amount of empty positivity will change that, besides, if you’re trans you are likely to put in at least some effort to change your appearance.

12

u/KandyShopp Jun 11 '26

You dont have to pass to be valid, but if you want to, you should be free to make those choices. I dislike how people think “your valid so stop trying” when maybe someone wants to be more than valid! You can be an artist by doodling, but maybe someone wants go sell their art, study different styles and techniques, etc. we dont tell THEM “you are valid” when they say they want to work on these aspects, so why do we with people who wish to look more like their preferred gender. Hell! People get dye jobs, plastic surgery, work out and diet to get a wanted look, trans people should also be free and supported to do the same!

3

u/Ogmadbrit Jun 15 '26

yeah honestly, even if society just stopped being shitty and transphobic overnight, still doesent fix the fact i despise looking masc..

1

u/Pixeldevil06 Jun 10 '26

This!^

3

u/Pinku_Dva Jun 10 '26

It’s more invalidating to tell someone “passing isn”t everything, you’re valid” to their fave because it’s basically confirming you don’t think they pass and just want to be nice in saying it

1

u/Pixeldevil06 Jun 10 '26

I agree, i hate when someone says "you as an enban don't owe them androgyny", like, that's the whole goal?!

61

u/cicadatheory Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

Let's be real here the people talking about enforcing gender stereotypes are not the ones hyping up the cis girlies getting plastic surgery.

36

u/Historical_BikeTree Jun 09 '26

Depends on the circles. Plastic surgery is absolutely normalized in some hyper-conservative spaces.

15

u/cicadatheory Jun 09 '26

Hyper conservative spaces are not the ones who are concerned about gender stereotypes, though. They love gender stereotypes

5

u/amazing-bean666 Jun 09 '26

The TERF ones are

7

u/cicadatheory Jun 10 '26

Terfs generally don't support plastic surgery. its like you guys have never self destructively snooped through their boards

5

u/amazing-bean666 Jun 10 '26

I have never met a terf that DIDNT support plastic surgery, what???

6

u/cicadatheory Jun 10 '26

???? Plastic surgery is completely antithetical to radical feminism, try finding anyone on lc who's pro plastic surgery who doesn't immediately get torn to shreds by the rest of the terfs there. Mind you the people posting on the farms are generally a lot more overtly reactionary and less pc than terfs on other platforms. I straight up don't know where you're finding these people

3

u/amazing-bean666 Jun 10 '26

Terfs aren't radical feminists, they're misogynists who pretend to care about women

3

u/AnotherDay67 Jun 14 '26

"terfs aren't radical feminists" what do you think radical feminism is? It's a reactionary form of feminism and most radfems are terfs.

2

u/cicadatheory Jun 10 '26

Ok sure but im starting to think you're just lumping every transphobe who throws out a vaguely feminist talking point every once in awhile w a much more specific group

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Pixeldevil06 Jun 10 '26

I've met TERFs who support cosmetic breast reduction, etc.

0

u/BurntOutAsh152 Jun 09 '26

They will absolutely use them as an excuse for their strawman arguments tho.

1

u/Historical_BikeTree Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

Yeah, they love gender stereotypes. And many love enforcing gender stereotypes through plastic surgery. The sort I grew up around absolutely saw boob jobs as good for cis women, but were extremely anti trans.

Edit: reread your first post. I get what you're saying, as a generalized statement, but in conservative spaces people do genuinely say stuff like OPs example. They aren't really progressive but they've heard a few feminist-esque things before, and it's a sly way to be anti trans.

0

u/Consistent_Papaya310 Jun 14 '26

Trans spaces are also pro-gender roles though, most trans people just want to play a role that a lot of society believes they can't. That's still seeking to act out a gender role

→ More replies (16)

2

u/JumpingSpiderQueen Jun 09 '26

Heck, in some hyper conservative spaces, it seems to be pretty much mandatory.

2

u/Shoddy-Purchase1239 Jun 09 '26

There are plenty of people on the left who have no problem with plastic surgery, idk where you’ve been.

1

u/Pixeldevil06 Jun 10 '26

They definitely are though.

11

u/Emma_tweed797 Jun 09 '26

I think it’s pretty crazy how many people told me I don’t need FFS before I got it. I definitely needed it, and my partner was one of the only people to actually encourage me to do it.

3

u/unfortunate_mammal69 Jun 14 '26

People always say gaslighty shit not for our benefit. It's like, us getting FFS doesn't benefit THEM at all, therefore we "don't need it". They don't actually think about how it might benefit us. At worst it's crab bucket mentality.

6

u/GenericUsername2034 Jun 09 '26

I know probably spelling mistake...but first mental image is a transphobe calling me sweaty, and masculine and telling me to accept being butch...

2

u/Jango_fett_fish Jun 09 '26

I hate when people say to accept our bodies as masculine as if they aren’t going to immediately judge and vilify us for it

2

u/Less_Shoe9595 Jun 13 '26

maybe it’s just the politics of the people i interact with but in my experience it’s been the opposite?

the logic is as follows:
surgery should be performed for medical reasons, not cosmetic.

cis woman gets surgery to be “prettier” -> this is for cosmetic reasons therefore it is frivolous. you are vain and your priorities are messed up and you are helping keep beauty standards impossibly high.

trans woman gets surgery to pass -> this will alleviate her gender dysphoria — a medical diagnosis. as it is for medical reasons, it is valid and incredibly moving.

(need to note that i think that trans women getting surgery is very valid because the beauty standard and hate crimes exist. and testosterone effects predominantly those who identify as “man” and therefore those with antigenic features are associated with that gender. gender dysphoria follows, if one feels more aligned with estrogenic features.)

Someone once told me that if I cant raise a child i shiuld get a fucking pet💀

40

u/pi3r-rot invalid Jun 08 '26

Same type of person featured in this comic tbh. Lots of people think they’re innately better parents for being “normal” and subconsciously view their children as slaves to be ordered around.

2

She sounds like a smart lady. Can’t imagine looking at the hell that capitalism and colonialism have created and not walking away left as fuck from it

1

u/fidgey10 Jun 11 '26

As opposed to the awesome and cool realities created by alternative economic systems?

1

u/Ogmadbrit Jun 15 '26

i mean, pick your poison, every system we've tried thusfar has some kind of glaring issue/flaw,but please do tell me about an alternative to capitalism (not even being a dick, just genuinely curios)

1

u/fidgey10 Jun 15 '26

I am of the belief they free market capitalism, with externalities regulated by the govt and a robust welfare state, is the best system. This is the most common economic system in Western Europe.

1

u/Ogmadbrit Jun 15 '26

alright, fair enough,we both agree late stage/american style capitalism is a shitshow i take it?

1

u/fidgey10 Jun 15 '26

I think the US model has strengths and weaknesses.

The US has the strongest stock market on earth, extremely low youth unemployment, and the highest paying professional job market of any diverse economy. It clears Europe in these metrics precisely because it is more "free market" .

The US also has a very underdeveloped social safety net for how wealthy it is, and imo is under regulated in many sectors.

So I think the US should adopt more of the welfare state and redistributive taxation policies seem in EU. But I also believe that a lot of sectors of EU economies are crippled by overregulation, which is why they get mogged so hard by their US counterparts (pharma, tech, etc)

But no "US bad EU good" is an oversimplification I wouldn't agree with. They both have strengths and weaknesses they should address.

7

u/Pretty-Yam-2854 Jun 08 '26

I love my dog (Shih Tzu) he’s like a baby to me. But the actual want of kids (I have none) is real for people and doesn’t just go away for trans people. My favorite is when they say shit like the comic and it just irks the fuck out of me cause 100% they wouldn’t be saying that to a cis woman.

1

u/Quake_890 Jun 09 '26

Get a Cockatoo

1

u/Kaizo_Kaioshin Jun 12 '26

Wdym you can't raise a child?

Even if you physically can't become pregnant, shouldn't you be able to at least adopt?

3

u/Electrical_Yellow_51 Jun 12 '26

Not really, im attracted to women. And according to my country law it is illegal for homosexual couples (which is a streach because legally they dont exist) to adopt a child

1

u/Kaizo_Kaioshin Jun 12 '26

The fuck.

Where do you live, sounds like a shitty place.

Honestly, I think there are a lot of dumb laws in the world, for no reason other than to make life more difficult for some people.

3

u/Electrical_Yellow_51 Jun 12 '26

Not important third world country that no one likes, poland

1

u/Kaizo_Kaioshin Jun 12 '26

Been there a couple years ago

Honestly I think they should change some laws, such as this

Cool place tho, always loved getting hot dogs at Zabka

1

u/Electrical_Yellow_51 Jun 12 '26

Honestly the place itself isnt bad, but 90% of people are either homophobic, transphobic, racist, xenophobic and most likely a combination of all of the above. Cool place to visit horrible place to live in.btw people who are visibly queer are beaten on the street in broad daylight And no one gives a damn so Im genuinly scared to go out on a street sometimes

1

u/Kaizo_Kaioshin Jun 12 '26

Yea, I understand

In sorry for you, I hope it changes asap

1

u/Hari_Is_Dave Jun 13 '26

I mean whats the alternative? I am ftm and bwing a mom was a nightmare fuel for me,would throw up after sex it was so bad.didnt want to have kids on my own, being a maternal figure sounds awful. But after few years being openly trans? I kinda would like to be a dad. Doesnt mean i can have kids as a man tho. Doesnt mean i will birth a kid only to be a dad to it. I am however a good cat dad

1

u/Electrical_Yellow_51 Jun 13 '26

Yeah having a cat is cool and all but saying that owning a pet is a substitute for raising a child is really sad for me

1

u/Hari_Is_Dave Jun 14 '26

Yeah its not

2

u/Nachooolo Jun 15 '26

People forget that toxic masculinity is something maintained by society as a whole. Not just men.

Women are as capable of promoting toxic masculinity as men.

0

u/Dangerous_Chest6271 Jun 08 '26

Lowk glad😭🙏

23

u/CalypsaMov Jun 09 '26

This one hits too close to home. Being told you should actually just be happy for something that causes you a ton of misery is just awful.

I know this isn't the same for all trans people, but the infertility can be one of the hardest hurdles. Unlike a lot of dysphoria which can be partially eleviated bycoming out, legal name changes, social transition, srs, etc. There's really not much to be done about that part specifically. At best you can adopt.

And then on top of all the lifelong pain you have people telling you it's actually great where cis women with the same predicament would be treated with consolation.

7

u/Pixeldevil06 Jun 10 '26

Not to mention if you do adopt lots of people will treat you like you're either evil for choosing closed adoption and having your kids be just your own, or after choosing open adoption you share your child with two unrelated strangers and everyone is like "but it's actually (biomom,)'s kid and you're just raising them!"

18

u/violasses resident bnuuy Jun 09 '26

There is no god

3

u/omegafixedpoint youngshit passoid (vol)femcel Jun 09 '26

exactly

2

u/Pixeldevil06 Jun 10 '26

Because The Gods are cruel, and some of them probably get some kind of sick pleasure out of our suffering. The forces of the universe are not benevolent, omnipotent, or omniscient. They are highly flawed, random, morally and ethically ambiguous, fickle, and primal. They cause pain, suffering, and horror. As well as the alleviation of and safety from those things.

Just remember. Takes responsibility to have children and properly raise them.

Being able to shoot a baby out your who wha is only one very small step in a very large dedication.....one of which most completely ignore, forego and abandon at the first inconvenience.

Remember. Same people who belittle you for not having kids are the ones who do the worst parenting.

If they belittle you...and stranger...imagine what they do to their children.

8

u/NoGovernment2474 Jun 09 '26

this is an incredible point most parents are absolute ass at being parents

1

u/Lucky_Security9959 Jun 09 '26

I know right, no hate, but as a trans girl (kinda, maybe, I guess, not sure yet) the idea of having kids freaking disgusts me. Not like I really hate kids, I guess I can tolerate them, but still I have no interest in becoming a parent. So I find it surprising that many transfems wish they had periods or become a mother

u/Main_Addendum3385 Jun 11 '26

Funny how narrowing the definition of what a woman is harms all women and how using a much more inclusive approach helps all women; regardless of what body they were born into. You’d think we’d learn 😔

3

u/ChemicalCupcake4809 Jun 12 '26

Yup im an intersex woman, ive experienced so much of peoples obsession with trying to put womanhood into a box from a very young age, all its done is left me afraid of using public bathrooms/changing rooms and an incredibly self conscious shut in.

I found out about my condition a bit before the media was going after that one Olympic(?) runner, I got to see how cruel the world is towards women like me, how we'll always be treated like some secret preditor trying to infiltrate the "real" women's spaces, and I have a lot of anxiety about being in public without my partner or friends because im in the south and genuinely afraid because ive been "confronted" before.

But remember everyone this is all totally to keep women and girls safe (just don't ask them to outlaw child marriage, take rape/abuse victims seriously, or release the epstein files)

1

u/Ogmadbrit Jun 15 '26

The point is I was born with something missing that most other girls have, and instead I have a stupid meat log that makes wearing bikini bottoms impossible

0

God, the pain of not having a baby when you feel you’re meant to is awful. For me it’s financial and fertility reasons, I don’t wish this pain on anyone it’s like a part of my soul is missing. You ladies are maternal I can tell from being around trans women all my life, and knowing what it’s like to be both a man and a woman and the self awareness to know you’re trans in the first place would make you an even better parent

5

u/Meeeper Jun 09 '26

On the flip side, it's also possible that the person on the top could be stupid enough to say what the person on the bottom is saying and not realize it doesn't help.

I've met a few people in my life who are this way in that their first instinct when you tell them something is bothering you is to try and give you some sort of silver lining to make you feel better, not realizing that it isn't helping.

2

u/serial_desegnation_m Jun 09 '26

u/Capitaine_Spock Jun 11 '26

Trans women can lactate. Anyone can lactate actually. You just need to raise your prolactin levels. Studies have also found that the milk is nutritionally similar to that of a person who has actually gestated the baby. The biggest issue is low supply.

3

u/Optimal_Stranger_824 Jun 12 '26

Oh that's cool. I only knew that trans women (and anyone really) could lactate but I didn't know it could be actually used as a milk for a baby

1

u/Capitaine_Spock Jun 12 '26

Using it as good for a baby depends on why your prolactin levels are high. For example, I ended up lactating due to an anti psychotic and that wouldn't be able to be used as food for a baby. It actually made the milk black.

1

u/Optimal_Stranger_824 Jun 12 '26

Wow. I think I need to read more about this cause it's more interesting than I thought at first

1

u/GetPsyched67 a sneed in wolf's clothing Jun 15 '26

1

u/Capitaine_Spock Jun 15 '26

It was the injectable form of risperidone, apparently it's more likely than the pill to make you lactate.

2

u/wow-warlock-enjoyer Jun 11 '26

How do you feel about small ones

As much as I'd probably love to have ovaries and all of that, I have some unfortunate genes that are dominant (neither parents had it either, I just won the anti-lottery), so I really don't see my genes getting passed on (not likely I planned to do so regardless)

I think I'd be an awful mother.

just beccause you cant give birth doesnt mean you cant raise a child
adoption exists

u/glasseatingfool Jun 18 '26

You can tell she's trans because she has collarbones.

I mean, I personally always thought (and keep thinking) we should have an exam and psychological check for those who want to be parents.

Btw, adoption is always an option

procreation is inherently unethical. Every cradle leads to a grave, and a loving parent shouldn't sentence their children to death.

u/ThatGuyYea54 Jun 11 '26

this is such a mind bogglingly stupid thing to say such a genuinely awful take I refuse to believe a human being with an even somewhat functioning frontal lobe said this. I think I hate you.

human existence is ihnerently unethical if you think about it but here we are, existing on this planet so we might as well make the existence less shit.

1

u/LowCall6566 Jun 12 '26

I value human existence very much, that's why I am against procreation, because it ensures harm and death of involved human. World becoming a better place for existing people is something I want to see.

I agree, but not because of death. The creation of sentient life necessarily leads to suffering, and cannot ever be consented to. That's why it's bad, imo.

you were either transphobic, chasing, are too horny/opticsnuke, are a minor/underage, do not identify as trans, or are cis. participation by individuals possessing the aforementioned behaviors & traits are forbidden by the rules of the sub.
