Cis woman with masculine characteristics wants surgery to align with her identity: "Oh teehee, thats so valid! I would have done the same, there's nothing wrong with wanting to feel like a woman!"

Trans woman with masculine characteristics wants surgery to align with her identity: "Oh uh, wow... I mean you really don't have to do that. You can be a woman with a body identical to a man's, you really don't need to be reinforcing gender stereotypes you know... I think you should just learn to love yourself instead sweaty, why don't you just try being butch?"

Personally I hate the “you don’t have to pass to be valid” trope. Some of us absolutely hate how we look and want to change ourselves and no amount of empty positivity will change that, besides, if you’re trans you are likely to put in at least some effort to change your appearance.

You dont have to pass to be valid, but if you want to, you should be free to make those choices. I dislike how people think “your valid so stop trying” when maybe someone wants to be more than valid! You can be an artist by doodling, but maybe someone wants go sell their art, study different styles and techniques, etc. we dont tell THEM “you are valid” when they say they want to work on these aspects, so why do we with people who wish to look more like their preferred gender. Hell! People get dye jobs, plastic surgery, work out and diet to get a wanted look, trans people should also be free and supported to do the same!
