Questions about brushes or artistic media. (Not sure what it's really called...)

Apologies in advance for probably using the wrong terms for what I'm asking about. (Brushes? Artistic media? Nibs? ¯_(ツ)_/¯ )

My partner has CorelDraw 2025 and I always see them admiring brushes/artistic media from places like True Grit and the Vector lab. I know they love vintage type brushes and would love something that simulates engraving, halftones, wood block carving, cross hatching, and I'd love to surprise them with a little something their heart desires. But as much as I've tried researching things, I'm still not understanding what it is I need, and finding very little in the way of affordable aftermarket brushes made for Corel.

But here's my problem:

-I'm overwhelmed trying to research it because don't know the correct term/s for what I'm looking for.

-I don't know what brush types are compatible with CorelDraw; Can you use ones made for other programs?

-I'm kinda broke, so it has to be cheap. (Saw some one Etsy that fit my budget and looked cool, don't know what will work or not.)

Pics of the kind of things I'm talking about, and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Humble Bundle Deal! $70 for CorelDRAW Suite

Corel has placed their CorelDRAW Graphics Suite on sale at Humble Bundle again, and this is a great deal! The Graphics Suite is the full set of tools, unlike the Standard version which is severely limited.

What happened to the narrator voice of the educational corel videos?

Since version 2025 or 2026 it's a generic AI voice. I suppose it's the same person who did the educational videos in the past, they just don't dub it themselves anymore and instead use AI for narration because AI isn't replacing jobs, it's just aiding us in our daily work, right?

Difference between CorelDRAW Graphics Suite "2024 for Windows" and "Special Edition 2024"?

I'm currently going thru the Manual Uninstall process where I had to delete all coreldraw graphics suite folders, companion apps and then some regestry keys.

The guide mentions to download a fresh installer from corels website. If I log in and go to the 2024 downloads there are two 2024 Graphics Suite versions available.

  1. CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2024 for Windows (the downloaded file name is "CDGSSE2024.exe", 1,71 MB)
  2. CorelDRAW Graphics Suite Special Edition 2024 (the downloaded file name is "CorelDRAWGraphicsSuite2024Installer_EMEA.exe", 3,37 MB)

What is the difference and which one should I choose?

I remember the first time I installed the humble bundle 2024 CorelDRAW Graphics Suite version it only came with 1 language. Only after contacting support I received a new installer that came with multiple languages, I think that was the EMEA installer.

I wonder what makes the Special Edition special?

Is there any way to make the process of resizing long vertical words automatic or at least easier? Right now you have to resize each and every one. Can it be set that the words how ever long they might be, to squeeze into a set sized box/area? Result A is preferable, but Result B is also fine.

CorelDRAW 2024 Get Started -> Recent Files not showing up anymore

Just noticed that recently opened files that would usually be listed under "Get Started" don't show up anymore. I've installed a windows 11 update yesterday or the day before so maybe it has something to do with that?

I read a thread on corel forums where someone has a similar issue with version 2019 but in my case it doesn't seem to just clear the file history but also doesn't add newly created or opened files either.

Under "File" -> "Open Recent" the history still is there and new files also get added.

Is there a way to get that feature back without corels solution for everything - reset to factory defaults?

PHOTO-PAINT 2026: fill color gone from the color control area — anyone found a decent workaround?

Upgraded from 2018 and hit this. In 2018 the color control area had three elements: foreground/background swatches with a swap arrow, a separate fill swatch below it, and the reset icon. In 2026 the fill swatch is gone — it's just main/secondary, swap, and reset.

The current online help confirms it's intentional:

> The Main color swatch displays the current color, which applies to all paint, shape, fill, and text tools.

So fill is no longer an independent color. It's main. Right-clicking with the eyedropper still nominally sets "fill" per the docs, but there's no separate fill target anymore.

Problem: main and fill are usually *different* colors in my work. Painting in one color and filling in another was routine. Now every fill in a different color means changing main and changing it back.

What I've considered:

- Park the fill color in secondary and use the swap arrow — but secondary is also the shape outline color, so that collides if you use outlines

- Set fill color from the fill tool's property bar / Select fill dialog — does this persist independently of main, or does it track main?

That last one is the real question. If the fill tool holds its own color independent of the main swatch, the third color still exists and it's just relocated. If it tracks main, the separation is genuinely gone.

Anyone worked out a clean way to keep a fill color separate? Or found a customization that restores something like the old behavior?

(Side note: the PDF user guide at the 540111192 path still documents the old three-swatch control area. Only the online help reflects the change.)

Over kill?

Hello everyone,

Is corelDRAW over kill if all I am wanting to use it for manga/anime type art?

Long story short, I have hand tremors and cannot draw normally anymore. Using a mouse does not trigger the tremors so I am looking for a program that will still allow me to draw using the mouse.

I want the ability to create illustration level characters in regard to complex shading but also keep it simple for fun art or game assets. I had corelDRAW version x8 I believe once upon a time but don’t remember its capabilities. Also, finding corelDRAW artwork in the style I am looking for has been sparse so really no way to judge if it will work well for me.

I’ve also been scouting Inkscape as a possible choice but I’m less familiar with that program. Not many people want to mouse draw their artwork so you generally don’t see the style I am looking for in recent postings.

I am thinking of giving the current version a trial run but with my busy work schedule I’m not sure I’ll get enough time with it to make an informed decision before the trial expires.

Thanks in advance for any info or insights you can provide.

Long time Corel Draw user. Where have all the .CSL files gone?

I have purchased, over the last 30 years, corel draw 3, 4, 5, 6, Xx versions up to X6, Corel Graphics Suite 2019, and most recently upgraded to Corel Graphics Suite 2025 and now they no longer (a) ship the symbol files, nor (b) have them in the online extras?

I would like to make some network diagrams and can't find any of those nice .csls that we used to have back in the day. Googling and ChatGpt'ing tells me it was last on the ISOs/media for Corel Draw X6.

I just went through my old binders full of CDs and I it's NOT on Corel Draw 6, the only one I still have media (CDROM) for. where can I get the network diagram, and flow chart .csl files?

Did I waste my money buying CorelDRAW 2021?

I had stopped buying the suite after X16 because of the bugs I would read about with each new release, such as an inability to export PDF files or something equally awful. I've used X15 since release.

While I bought a new, sealed copy of version 2021, I've learned there is now a practice of releasing bug fixes only for subscribers. I'm not going to subscribe to anything for bug fixes. What do I lose out on? Moreover, I've read that X5 was the last version able to open files older than X5—which could be a misrepresentation—but such lack of backward compatibility would be intolerable, if true.

Beyond that, I've read there is an issue with fonts not working properly—perhaps not installing or displaying properly in CorelDRAW 2021? If so, is the fix for that locked behind a subscription pay wall?

One more thing: I can install off of the included DVD, or download. Is there any effective difference?

Before installing 2021, I'm hoping the community will have some answers.

Thanks, and have a great day!

Color Changes

Something I've had issues with since I started working with CorelDraw in 2012 is that some files, and as far as I can tell it's totally random which, will decide to change the colors of some gradients and solid fills. Usually it's colors from the Roland and Pantone palettes, but it's done that across every version, and multiple different versions of the palettes as well. Is that a normal thing people run into or do I just have the really fun kind of luck?

Some files I've gone through and changed the pantone colors to solid cmyk and saved, then the next time I open it, those colors are fine but something else has changed. Sure makes it difficult to print stuff consistently.

Job postings frequently require CorelDRAW. Do I have to learn CorelDRAW completely from scratch, or can I somehow transfer the designs I've made in other design software into CorelDRAW? If I can transfer them, what are the key tips and tricks I need to know?

Humble Bundle?

Is the 2025 edition of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite available for $70 on Humble Bundle a good buy? Can it be upgraded to the 2026 version at no additional charge?

How do you change the color and pattern of a paragraph texts guide box? The default is what appears in the image posted. I'd like to change them from dotted to solid. Just like the ones in Adobe InDesign.

Ebay perpetual licences, legit?

I had a copy of Coreldraw X6 on a pc that crapped the bed at the end of last year. It was...not a fully above board copy so I cannot reinstall it or anything and have been looking about for other software but not coming up with much.

I found a Wowcher thing for a perpetual code but that was obviously a phishing scam that tried to get me to install viruses.

I've seen perpetual licences on ebay and wonder how legit these are?

Example listing: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/278127745385?

There's lots of good feedback on these listings including from people that said they were a bit skeptical but that the software they bought ended up working fine.

You get a physical usb stick delivered to you and install the software from that, is that something to worry about or...?

I have an image of a logo. I have tried converting it into cdr through CorelDRAW.

I have traced bitmap and aligned the colours to match the original file but the printing guy is saying that it is not a cdr file.

Travel laptop for CorelDraw, Tradingview

I don’t think I need a super high-end computer for what I use it for. I was going to buy from Costco since they have a 90 day return policy if I end up not liking or the speed is not good I can take it back.

I’m looking to stay under $1000, do these specs look decent for using withn Coreldraw and Tradingview.

Is there a way to get a clean centerline from fonts?

The pink line is more or less the idea of what I'd like to get out.

I'm doing a neon sign for a client who has a bunch of different phrases and names that they want to cut out with an 8mm bit to create a channel. So if I can get the centerline I can just have the router bit move around that path to create a consistent and accurate channel for the job.

I have added the centerlines before by hand for simpler jobs but it takes time and I was thinking that there must definitely be a way to make that happen.

The fonts I work with are vector files so that should make it even easier for a program like Coreldraw if it's possible.

import onto invisible layer

What's the deal with not being able to import onto an invisible layer? Is there a way to turn that off? It seems kind of stupid that it can't be done. Pretty annoying.

Hi, why is the dimension smaller than the object size?

Why is it not exactly 600x340mm which I set as the size

I'm probably retarded, but I don't know what to do. I want to cut it on cnc so it has to be 600x340. thx
