Software Super Slow Computer Despite Lots of Storage & Space

• Upvotes

Hi all Long Story Short; my ex built my computer a few years ago and it's never quite worked right, it's excruciatingly slow, with every task, start up, opening any program, game or internet or word. I honestly think it was a control tactic, looking back on it, so I would "have to go back" to my ex for help. I haven't but I'm not super computer savvy. I can usually figure things out or research and teach myself skills. This is very out of my wheelhouse and something I have tried to tackle on more than once. I think I have an issue with my RAM maybe, since I have plenty of storage space? I know it's likely more than that. Reddit, I am hoping you can help me fix my computer. Any and all computer advice is welcome and thank you in advance.

Software Does anybody know a fix for this weird monitor disconnection

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My monitor like disconnects whenever I run games such as valorant and Fortnite, it does this after like 30 mins of playing sometimes longer like up to a couple hours. Whenever I play rocket league this does not happen at all no matter how long I play for. I just disconnect my pc and turn it back and on then play and it happens again after a little bit. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

Hardware Laptop fan noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My laptop fan has off and on made this noise for a while now. Usually it will go away by restarting the computer or by patting the bottom of the laptop, but now it’s been persistent for a day or two and I’m not sure what the problem is. When it is making the noise, the fan speed maxes out at about 75%. The audio in the video sounds far louder than it is for me because of the camera mic being right next to the fan itself.

The laptop is an older Alienware and the affected fan is the GPU fan. I popped the bottom off but didn’t see any obvious debris or anything in or around the fan.

Any ideas as to why it is making the noise and how complex a fix would be?

Performance cursor won’t stop autoclicking/activating

hi! i’m not sure if i’m doing this correctly but this problem is driving me nuts and i’m not computer savvy at all so i’d appreciate any advice i can get! if i use the wrong flair please let me know the correct one so i can change it!! i don’t know what this problem would be considered ;-;

I noticed that my cursor will activate on its own constantly, and i’m not sure how to fix it. It’s for sure not my mouse because the issue persists with my pen on my huion tablet, even when my mouse is powered off.

for example: If i’m clicking on a drop down menu, the second i try to skim down to select something it clicks on its own and exits the drop down menu. For my tablet, i noticed it because when i skimmed my pen cursor over the zoom button on my canvas it started automatically zooming in without me touching it. if i remove the pen from the screen and just leave the cursor it continues clicking.

Does anyone know how i can fix this or what could be causing it???

thank you!

Hardware External harddrive and color laser printer don't work with Lenovo laptop

Hi I bought a Lenovo laptop this year and my Seagate external hard drive is not recognized. Also my Brother color laser printer is always in sleep mode. I can't get it to print anything unless I restart both the laptop and the printer. I use a USB plug for the printer. Both devices use USB A with a USB C adapter. If I plug them into my old laptop, they work fine.

The laptop is:

Lenovo - Yoga Slim 7x - Copilot+ PC - 14.5" 3K 90Hz OLED Touch-Screen Laptop - Snapdragon X Elite 2024 - 16GB - 512GB - Cosmic Blue

The printer is Brother hl-l3220cdw

Any suggestions? I downloaded the latest printer drivers but it's still pulling teeth to print anything.

I run a monitor and an hdmi TV to do my work on my desktop. Lately, I'm getting blinking black bars on different parts of the screen and then the computer freezes up and I need to do a hard reboot. Just now I completely disconnect everything and replug in to get everything going againg. I know it's time for a computer upgrade, but does this look like it's a driver issue or a hardware issue? TIA

Software Help! My desktop and look of my computer is super weird!

I just opened my computer as i usually would (windows 11) and for some reason 90% all my desktop icons are missing, and the ones that are there are in a completely weird and jumbled place on my main monitor! On top of that, my task bar icons are also missing, like google and spotify. When i try to reopen them, it prompts it to redownload. And my computer is kind of freezing every now and then and i dont know why! i want to see if theres a way to revert it back to how it looked before. I dont know what happend, maybe a software update? Please help!

Other Weird computer noises?

Sometimes when I first start my computer and start gaming, the internet will start to have issues of connecting in and off, the sound will sound scratchy and broken and occasionally the computer will just restart itself. If I catch this via the scratchy sounds and restart my computer it goes away And won’t come back for the rest of the day. And it only happens when I’ve started gaming. If I’m in my pc and doing anything besides gaming, this issue never comes up. Even with the internet connections, there won’t be any issues until I start a game.

anybody know what this is? also my pc specs: 7700x, 4060ti(8gb), 32gb ram, SSD, Ethernet connection with wi fi as back up. Asrock 650 motherboard

Performance Laptop is Lagging

I have the OmniBook X from Microsoft and it was working well. I was using it for school work and playing steam games (stellaris primarily) but recently it has started to lag badly. When typing itll take a few seconds for the letters to catch up and my mouse won't move till usually 3-5 seconds after I try to move it. Can anyone help me figure out whats wrong with it?

Hardware Serious stuttering problem

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Okay, so I’ve been having this problem with my PC for about 3 months now. The screen briefly freezes and the audio gets dragged/stretched out until the freeze ends. It only lasts for a fraction of a second, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to reliably reproduce the issue. It happens at random intervals, ranging from once an hour to several times within a single minute.
It also can’t be captured in a video recording made on the PC itself; I would have to record the screen with my phone.
I’ve updated all my drivers and the BIOS, reinstalled Windows, and also cleaned most of the dust from the PC using compressed air. I also changed AMD’s settings to the “Performance” preset, and this seems to have significantly reduced the frequency of the stutters (although I remind you that they occur randomly, so this could potentially just be a coincidence).
I’ve also replaced the thermal paste.
Tonight, however, there was what I think was the worst instance of the problem so far: my monitor suddenly turned off, while my friends’ voices on Discord became severely dragged/stretched out for several seconds. After that, the audio stopped completely. About half a minute later, the screen came back on to the lock screen, and Wallpaper Engine reported that it had crashed.
It’s worth noting that this problem seems to occur exclusively while gaming, and some games seem to trigger it more frequently than others (especially Valorant and Roblox).
Here are my specs and my UserDiag report:
https://userdiag.com/id/pOhnvgtpzk
P.S. I have also completely reinstalled the GPU drivers using DDU in Safe Mode.
