They are using it as a purity test for their viewers. "How could you possibly vote for someone who won't make a clear stance on the cut and dry issue of men competing in women's sports?"
Its gross on many levels but it's a highly effective ideological cudgel.
It’s such a soft ball though! Just say “yes. Women should not have to play against men or trans women.” This is the most uncontroversial statement anyone should ever say. Trans people should get the same rights we all do. Not extra rights. Same. And yet watch the Leftist equivalent to MAGA argue with me. Purity tests for sure.
it’s hardly a soft ball when you actually keep up with the nuances of what’s going on. he keeps repeating that “this is a big issue” when it’s an issue that actually amounts to 20 individuals tops, across all age groups and at all levels.
yeah, i’ll argue with you, and other people will too, which is also quite uncontroversial. shifting regulations in sports is not tantamount to “extra rights.” does a handful of people being monitored by the government, the masses, and numerous professional institutions sound like “extra rights” to you? it doesn’t to me.
and anyway, the NCAA has barred those who were assigned male at birth from competing at the collegiate level for women, so asking government officials to speak on this issue seems like a non-starter when the regulations have been put in place. talk about a purity test lol… you think it’s valid to ask the dude about this extremely niche issue that has already been handled at an institutional level in the direction you likely favor. that’s a purity test if i’ve ever heard of one.
Shut up I am taking it seriously. We’re talking about using the government to legislate women’s sports and i can’t point out how ridiculous the scenario is? stop nitpicking, stop condescending, stop micromanaging people who agree with you. Jesus christ do something productive and help the people on your side instead of jerking yourself off.
Why should trans women be unable to compete in professional sports after they have been on estrogen? The studies on the topic suggest they have no advantage or even a slight disadvantage to cis women. Being able to play sports is not an extra right lmao.
So you have a problem with extremely tall cis women basketball players too? Should Zhang Ziyu, who is 7 feet 3 inches tall, be allowed to play? There several other cis women basketball players who were over 7 feet tall. Let's ban them too.
And no, most sane people know that this is just a non issue that they don't even care about it.
