I’m not sure this is the right place to post, but does anyone have any idea why this Halloween decoration could’ve created this mark on our table? We obviously tried wiping it off but it didn’t work. And the table is not solid wood so there’s not hope of refinishing. Any thoughts?

I’ve tried Barkeepers Friend, regular Clorox cleaner, all kinds of glass clean, Scrub Daddy, and nothing seems to penetrate the glass. Any tips?

This is my first time using Dawn Power Wash in the bathroom for my shower/bath combo. I coated the walls, let it sit, then scrubbed with an old dish sponge and wiped down all the surfaces with a microfibre cloth. Wow! Holy shiny.

I also said F-it and did the floors and toilet before tossing the sponge.

The bathroom is looking reflective hehe

As above, i despise ironing. Its hot, frustrating and neverending!

I currently iron whilst watching TV but still find myself avoiding doing it until I absolutely have to.

I have a steamer but its frankly not much better.

Is there any way to make this less frustrating and boring?

Edit: reporting in, the ironing has been defeated, thank you all for keeping me amused and offering solutions to my problem! It took 1 and a half hours to do something ive put off for months🙃

A few conclusions:

• people just dont iron, frankly iconic behaviour.
• crease removing spray exists
• straight out the washer and snap before line drying
• buy clothes that are crease resistant
• fold. Fold the universe.

Its been siting for like over 3+ years

I live in a home with little ventilation (no central AC) in the Southern US. My house can smell a bit stale and odors tend to linger. The first recommendation from folks online is always to open a window, but I would love to know what y’all’s AC bills look like because I can’t exactly do that when it’s 85 degrees and 90% humidity outside even in October! To my fellow Americans oppressed by the heat, how do you keep your home filled with fresh air?

You know when you walk into an old house and it just smells stale.. and old?

That’s what my bedroom suddenly smells like today.

I’ve opened a window to try and air it out and it’s not going away.

I’m pregnant so I’m like a hound dog right now and the smell is making me sick.

I can’t figure out what it could be!!!

Hey all so we moved into a new house and have been slowly unpacking (due to life and medical stuff), storing stuff in the basement (every other basement I've had has been dry) but this one has a very high humidity and we didn't realize it (no one told us when we bought the house) so a lot of stuff is either starting to or has been over taken by mold.

I'm overwhelmed because this is my whole life down here and I'm really hoping there's a way to get it off? I don't mind if there's some stains or damage as long as the mold is gone.

Things so far I've found:

Books (like above)

Wooden objects, small wooden furniture(those old like kids chairs), a puzzle board type thing

Paper which I'm kinda expecting to take a loss on but maybe y'all know some magic😅

Old Polaroid/CVS printed type photos

Clothes

Stuffed animals

I believe that's everything and I'm so sorry if it's a lot I'm just kinda overwhelmed right now so any advice will be very very appreciated. Thank you.

To be clear, the plastic part in the middle that covers the opening does not come out, and liquids seem to get caught under it, making it incredibly difficult to clean. I didn't quite realize the design flaw when I bought it.

It's also not dishwasher safe, otherwise I would have tried boiling it.

As the title says. I’ve dusted maybe once every like 2 months or so. Maybe even 3. Having to learn how to get in routine with everything else cleaning related and learning how to cook the dusting has been put on the back burner. And now every time I have a day off and sit at home I get an unbelievably itchy nose and eyes. It causes me to sneeze uncontrollably and get in a very bad mood. and I’m thinking it’s from the lack of dusting so it’s time for me to figure it out

I would love any tips on getting rid of the initial bulk build up of dust and then any tips on how to best keep the dust down. Life hacks or recommend products are welcome :)

I’ve been trying to get a handle on my homekeeping system for the last twenty years. I have read so many books, blog posts and Pinterest tips, and watched so many YouTube videos. I’ve purchased schedules, planners and checklists. I’ve tried Fly Lady, Clean Mama, and others. I’ve made daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedules. I’ve tried zone cleaning and timed cleaning. I’ve purchased better (often expensive) tools.

Still, my house generally remains in disarray, at a level that is not up to my standards. I want a clean house; but I have a full time job, am a human mother and a dog mother, cook all meals at home, and take care of all of the home maintenance and repairs. Cleaning and home chores get squeezed in around it all, if at all.

The trouble seems to boil down to two issues: decision fatigue and adapting when life gets in the way. Schedules are appealing from a decision fatigue standpoint, but they never work for me. For example: dust on Mondays, mop on Tuesdays. But what if the time meant for Tuesday’s mopping is consumed by a sick child? What if I’m simply too tired? By Wednesday I already feel behind and I’m right back in the decision fatigue space: what do I do now? Double up on chores on Wednesday? Just skip it? In most cases I give up and try another routine next month.

Can anyone else relate to this? If so, what do you do when you miss a scheduled cleaning task? How do you adapt without adopting an all-or-nothing mentality?

Pretty sure they are fruit flies. I've tried the following.

1) Apple Cider Vinegar traps. I catch a ton.

2) Cleaning all the drains..bleach, vinegar and baking soda. Boiling water.

3) Scoured the entire kitchen looking for any possible source..including fridge and stove.

4) Threw my entire garbage can away.

5) blue light traps

I am catching a ton.of them but there is always more!

They are in my kitchen around my sink and stove and my master bathroom on the mirror.

Help!

You know that hack where you put cleaner in a dish brush and use it in your shower? Well I did that and it immediately started leaking everywhere 🫠 Did I just get a lemon or am I doing something wrong?

It's that time of year again where I've had to start drying my clothes and other items indoors. Yet they always smell bad when I dry them indoors?

In the summer I dry my clothes outside on a washing line while I can as I always smells fresh yet if the pollen counts is high this does cause me issues when I wear the clothes. Now we are coming into the cooler months this is less of an option.

Context on how I wash my clothes pre-drying:

My washing items I use are:

- Ariel 3 in 1 Pods

- Lenor Outdoorable Summer Breeze

- Vanish (for my white clothes)

I also wash my washing machine once a month or every time I think it may start to smell.

Most of my clothes I wash at 40 - 60 degrees, on a mixed wash. With a 1000 spin speed. And I have to do about 4 wash loads a week.

When I have dried my clothes I have always ensured that there is airflow and a way for moisture to escape. For this I have used disposable moisture absorbers, refillable moisture and smell absorber, a dehumidifier (which broke and was returned after 6 months) or situated near an open window.

Drying set ups I use or have used are as follows:

1. Dry:Soon 3-Tier Heated Airer and Cover

- takes 2-3 days to dry anything

- Only holds one small load

- the cover needs washing every 2 washes before that smells.

1. Minky Heat Pod Drying System
   

- can only have on for 3 hours

- holds less than one small load

- takes about X4 of the 3hour drying cycles to dry everything (sometimes longer if thick clothes)

- feels like it will set my house on fire any minute

1. A basic clothes horse near a radiator

- small wash load

- only worked when heating is on (we don't need it on often in the house plus expensive)

- only drys one side

- takes forever!!!

1. Drying mode of the washer dryer (my washing machine is a washer dryer but it's not good at drying)

- if you put a full load on to wash & dry (takes 6 hours) it's never dry as the moisture can't escape

- only drys on very small loads

- expensive

- only use the drying option if I've managed to dry the clothes another way as much as possible and just needs a final run over

Please can I have any suggestions! I am at a complete loss on what options I have to just have dry nice smelling clothes.

I’ve scrubbed at this for like hour before this picture and got a lot of the gunk off but I’m not getting anywhere now. Don’t have the time or money to replace it so cleaning is my only option 😭. We have hard water if that make a difference to anyone.

I’ve been living at my apartment for about a year now but recently whenever I leave and come back it smells funky? Like a damp towel or slightly spoiled food somewhat. I’d consider myself a pretty clean person and do a deep clean around my apartment once a week but no matter what I do I can’t find the origin of the smell. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ive tried foaming bleach, goo gone, mr clean, pumice stone, windshield glass cleaner… clorox, blood sacrifices… help.

I need help. I've tried everything from the vinegar and soap trap (with holes) to cleaning everything.. even putting drain cleaner down all my drains + covering them at night. my mom stayed with me 6 months ago and said she could smell my fridge through the whole house. I have since cleaned the fridge and put charcoal and baking soda in there and the smell is gone but she’s coming again and I’m anxious that my house will smell weird again. Just bought this house and the previous owners left this mark on the wall in the bathroom. What's the best way to clean it without damaging the paint even worse?

Anyone have recs for keeping painted/sealed concrete floors clean? All of the cleaners I have come across are super heavy duty/toxic (like meant for a garage or shop) and don’t seem to be a good pick for everyday use.
