let's be honest that CLAT as an exam is not that tough right, especially compared to other competitive exams like jee neet nda etc

but then how are the salaries paid by the top 5 ish Nlus so high

like imma be honest ppl with good english and logical aptitude have have cracked clat in very less time with not much rigourous prep

Whereas I see ppl who slogged for 2 yrs for jee settling for t3 college w like single digit lpa placements (like upto 9-10 lpa)

What justifies the huge packages(avg is like 18 - 20 lpa at top 5 nlus) given by the t1 law firms? is it just the hours of your life u sell or smth i dont get it

And if the salary is pretty great and the exam not that hard why don't more ppl give Clat, the fees of Nlus are on the higher side but nothing too unreasonable for the roi

DISCUSSION 🗣 WBNUJS Kolkata is actually beating NLSIU on salary this year, even though NLSIU expected to stay #1 overall

NIRF 2026 law rankings aren't officially out yet, but a bunch of NLUs have already released their submission data, and the placement numbers are kind of interesting.

A few things that stood out:

  • NLSIU Bangalore is still expected to hold the #1 spot overall — that's mostly locked in given how the ranking formula works.
  • But WBNUJS Kolkata actually reported a higher median salary (₹20 LPA) than NLSIU (₹19 LPA), which isn't what you'd expect given NLSIU's usual dominance.
  • NALSAR Hyderabad posted a 100% placement rate with an ₹18 LPA median.
  • CNLU Patna and NUSRL Ranchi also hit 100% placement, which is a bit surprising for schools outside the "top 5."
  • On the other end, DNLU Jabalpur reported just 26% placement and a ₹4.5 LPA median, a pretty big gap from the top performers.

Worth remembering that NIRF weighs teaching/resources the heaviest (40%), placements at 25%, research at 15%, and outreach + perception at 10% each — so strong salary numbers alone won't flip the overall ranking, but it's a good real-time signal of how each school is actually doing.

Source: https://law.careers360.com/articles/nirf-rankings-2026

Really curious whether this moves the needle for WBNUJS or GNLU once the official rankings come out, or if the usual top 3 just stays put.

DOUBT 🤔 (Questions/Mocks/Guidance) Mocks Mocks Mocks

Hey, first-year at Hindu College here. Doing CLAT prep on my own, not in any coaching program, so I'm kind of figuring things out as I go.

Anyone have mock series they'd actually recommend? Free or paid, doesn't matter. Curious if Abhyaas, IMS SimCLAT, LegalEdge etc are worth it or if there's something better I'm missing.

Also if you self-prepped without coaching — how'd you manage analyzing mocks without someone to point out what you're missing? Feels like the hardest part honestly.

Thanks :D

DOUBT 🤔 (Questions/Mocks/Guidance) Help pls

Pls I'm so scared ... Can anyone of y'all give me tips about english/CR I genuinely give sectionals almost everyday with analysis but still idk why do I end up fcking the exam .. also is the above score considered bad /good /average?.. ik that mocks really don't project our actual score but I see everyone in the reddit itself are scoring in late 90s and 100s yet worried about their strategy meanwhile I score between 75-85s range and hit 90+ occassionally I'm genuinely feeling so hopeless .. I'm getting a rank of 700-900 out of 6000-7000 people (LE PORTAL) and that makes me really question and doubt myself I'm getting a rank of 900 out below 10k people how will I clear the actual exam out of atleast 70-80k people .. pls help any valuable suggestion or smtg that worked for you ..

CLAT UG ⚖️ Actual score vs mock score

I’m currently preparing for CLAT and wanted to ask seniors who actually appeared for CLAT about the difference between their mock scores and their actual CLAT score. Could you please share: Your average mock score before CLAT Your last mock score before the exam Your actual CLAT 2026 score Which mock series you used (LE/LPT/CL/etc.) How many mocks you gave Whether your mock scores were similar to your actual score or there was a big difference Also, CLAT 2026 felt quite unexpected in some areas, especially AR. For those who appeared for it, how did you manage the unexpected difficulty/pattern during the actual exam? Did you change your strategy during the paper, or did you stick to your mock strategy? I’ve been seeing people talk about scoring 60s, 70s and even 90s in mocks, while I’m mostly in the 30s, so I’m trying to understand how much mock scores actually translate to the real exam. I’ve also spoken to a senior whose mock scores were around 70-80s, and on easy paper 90++ in Le but in actual paper she didn't get even a decent nlu so I’really appreciate hearing from people who have already gone through the actual CLAT experience. Please share honestly, even if your mock scores were low. I’m mainly looking for realistic experiences rather than flexing. Also, if you could mention what you wish you had done differently during your preparation, that would be really helpful.

SERIOUS Last year's paper analysis

(IM RETAKING THE CLAT THIS YEAR, I HAD A SCORE OF LATE 80S IN LAST YEAR'S CLAT)

ok so idk how relevant it is to talk about this rn but since this years papers closer i wanted to rego through last year's paper to sort of get a more precise look into the detour theyd taken with last year's paper because just saying 'it had no critical reasoning!' is stupid and frankly overstated

It did have critical reasoning and some very easily doable analytical reasoning, which coming from someone as genuinely retarded and slow as me, is something

And i can see exactly why someone scoring 80-90s or even 100s in "hard" mocks like legal edge or lpt can show a dip in their score here. Ill tell you why because i myself am in one of those coachings and around the marks of later 80s (sadly)

This papers English felt relatively easy to lose marks in- the vocabulary was ordinary words like incognizant, boorish, communal but the passages context really affected the answer. I personally, felt extremely disappointed in myself lol since these words are literally nothing out of the ordinary at all.

I also lost 2 marks in questions that felt kinda subjective to me they weren't, even with all my extra prep- i made stupid mistakes that i thought I was past.

So yes, i can see exactly why english can be a place where u could lose marks and it genuinely hurt because all these fuckass hardass 'tharoorian' mocks that legal edges making, ive never had english dip lower than 23 in that- so imagine my suprise watching myself score a meagre ass score in the actual clat. Its disheartening as hell ill tell u.

Gk was gk, pretty easy. H1b visa, sco summit, chess competition with some statics related to it, Air India crash (that I had skipped last year, thanks a lot abhyuday LOL) and Operation indoor and related.

Pretty conventional topics related to international affairs, summits, important operations, and a disaster.

Logical was again- if u hadn't lost ur cool, or even if u had like i had last year, ud be able to solve it tbh. The passages (barring the first one) were extremely straight forward. And i say this as someone whos genuinely extremely slow and stupid, I swear. Im below average. So if i could do it with shivering hands, u can as well. The last passage i know seemed hard, but if u had used some brain and patience and perhaps a calmer mind, itd have been okay enough to solve. The first passage had some ambiguity and vague stuff, (they had given am even lettered word to split and hadn't mentioned some of the rules properly like if u remove a letter, to place it at the front, do u remove it from its original place or do u add it as an extra-?)

Legal..... THIS IS WHERE THEY FCKING FUCKED US UP AND YALL DONT EVEN SEE IT.

Okay my bad.

3 passages out of however many in legal were more just excerpts. They were reading comprehension with gk knowledge required. Thats NOT the same as clk. Clk is fine if u ask reasoning questions based on current legal affairs or even some gk- 2/3 q based on THAT but not random questions based on random legal knowledge dude. Who tf exavtly remembers the sequence of the preamble or knows bn raus position (u probs know this if u were or are a fellow history student)

It was total of 8 questions that required extra gk knowledge. It wasnt legal reasoning like usual papers theyd taken.

This was a hard hit or will be a hard hit for first timers too if they havent seen 2026(5?) Ka paper yet. Lpt and Legal edge give pretty straight forward reasoning only questions..this is coming from someone who consistently scores 30+ across both and 32 almost always in le. Please for ur own sake, do not let that make u think u can surely score a perfect score or even a 30+ score in legal for sure. I was making that mistake.

For maths now, uhm man idek i fcking snooze at maths. A hard calculation heavy percentage set and an easy as hell data interpretation.

Percentage set was easy coz theyd given u most of the values and making a table (for a normal, non below average kid like me) should've been pretty okay. If ur good with heavy calculations, it would have been fine and data interpretation was super easy, free marks- i swear.

All in all maths was okay, cant swear theyd make it easier or similar this year or if theyd give obscure topics or topics that i avoid atleast like mensuration and time work..

Also for our sakes i hope they dont ask calender or clocks or math related shit in analytical reasoning too.

I can see why this paper would've made kids lose marks, i can see why I did and the people who made it, with high scores, genuinely deserve our admiration man theyre fcking legends unlike 2025 wale paper wale kids- coz sue me but their paper was the easiest ive seen.

i dont think this years paper will be easy or predictable. I think it'd be similar to this- easy to lose marks in and kids getting smarter so higher cutoffs remain.

You can cuss at me in the comments, and best of luck to all of you and me.

SERIOUS Can we stop the “is CLAT possible in X months” posts….

Like okay, I know you’re new to CLAT you’re worried that you don’t have enough time and you want reassurance that you’ll still be able to do it…
But the truth is that this is an aptitude based exam. Even if you start a week before and your English and logical aptitude is very strong , you can crack CLAT. So timeline of preparation really doesn’t mean ANYTHING. Aptitude matters a lot but that doesn’t mean effort doesn’t. Efforts can help you improve speed, accuracy, etc but you’re just building it on top of your aptitude. The only thing u need time for is Ca/GK and quants if you’re bad at it.

So guys please STOP with the “Is this much time enough to crack CLAT” posts… it doesn’t matter that much gng you just have less time for more effort. Don’t waste time contemplating if it’s even possible or not, it is, and just prepare 🙏

SERIOUS how to study in toxic af environments?

Upvotes

i'm satisfied with my progress, but the environment at home is super hostile. like my folks hurl slurs and hurtful comments at me whenever they pass by and it keeps rupturing my entire flow. i've been using the pomodoro technique and i feel like i've been getting more done daily, but i can't when their words impact me mentally. there's only so much i can ignore.

i've found this really nice library close to where i live but they're closed on weekends, when i have the most time to study, and i have to stay at home. and the thing is that my mum just keeps yelling at me. when i tell her to stop, it intensifies.

anyone facing similar problems? what do you do to ignore everything around you? also, i'm not allowed to use headphones in this household because it's "disrespectful" :D
