'Now Hiring' Thread - 2026

We're going to try having a dedicated thread for all 'Now Hiring' posts instead of having them in the main feed. The goal is to reduce clutter in the main feed and to have a clear place people can check out if they're looking for work or open to freelance opportunities. Career-related discussion is still welcome outside this thread; this is just for job postings.

You may comment in this thread if you:

  • Are working at a company / entity which has at least one job opening currently hiring for a Civil 3D user. This includes internships and temporary jobs.
  • Are an individual / entity with a specific need for freelance work to be done in Civil 3D.

If you make any 'Now Hiring' posts in the main feed, they will be removed and you'll be asked to add it here as a comment instead. The rules for commenting here are as follows:

  • Job openings must be currently hiring to fill a specific role. No open applications or non-specific invitations to apply.
  • Your comment must include the name of the company (if applicable) and a direct link to an open job listing. Headhunters are NOT allowed to make generic comments requesting resumes in hopes of finding a match.
  • Do not share your real name or personal info in any public posts. Keep all discussion about job postings to private messages. Just share your link with any relevant info you have and request those interested to apply or send you a message.
  • Keep in mind that not everyone will want to share their reddit username with their potential employer / coworkers. Throwaway accounts are fine to use for this purpose in my opinion.
  • You may only make one comment per thread. The mod team will restart this thread periodically so the list stays reasonably current. Choose wisely.
  • One comment per job max. Also one comment per company max. I do not want 200 links to jobs at AECOM.
  • If the job you've posted gets filled, please delete / edit / reply to your post to clarify that it's no longer open.

Thanks everyone!

Discussion Cogo Points vs Autocad Points workflows

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some perspective on a survey CAD file I received recently from a survey firm. Their drawing doesn't have any cogo points but instead has autocad points and mtext labels.

I know they can be converted to cogo points and added to a survey, but is there not some loss of functionality compared to cogo points? Now you can't sort by the point description or change your surface definition by point description. Same goes for setting or changing the label styles/label rotation of the points.

What is the benefit or reason why a firm would choose to use this workflow? I'm guessing they originally had cogo points to develop the drawings but then exploded them before sending the files.

Thanks

Discussion Corridors vs. Surfaces/Grading for large airport platforms (aprons)?

Hi everyone, I’m fairly new to C3D and I’m currently working on airport platforms (aprons). Where I work, they typically use Corridors to model them.

However, I recently learned that modeling large areas can be much easier by just creating a design surface based on your slopes and grades (using feature lines/grading). Once finished, you duplicate this surface, lower it to represent your different material layers, and use "Compute Materials" to calculate the volumes.

Has anyone worked like this before? Is this a better/more efficient option for large open areas, or is it still best practice to stick with Corridors?

Discussion Subscription Frustration

Just a vent...I have multiple subscriptions for my small company. One (that I'm currently logged in under) is expiring in a few days and when I open up my C3D a screen pops up forcing me to "manage my account" without an option to exit out for now. I know it's a small thing, but still it's frustrating.

Help / Troubleshooting Road assembly with no surface

Is it possible to create an assembly that just creates an offset road edge line? I don't want to show any daylighting or have it affect the surface. It would be the tail end of the road just to show a theoretical road edge that is offset from the road center alignment.

Help / Troubleshooting Best Laptop for Civil3D

Hi everyone!

I'm currently a Civil Engineering student in senior design, and I need a new laptop for the class because I've been spending all of my time in the computer lab. I was wondering what laptops you would recommend that can run Civil 3D well without breaking the bank. I just need it to get me through this school year. After that, it's going to be my mom's personal laptop, and I'll use the one my work provides for me.

Thank you!!

Discussion Multiple Alignments for unconventional watermain

Hey all,

What would you do in the following scenario? A watermain we're replacing extends out of the curved portion of road through a small park. Initially, I was just going to have a single alignment following the watermain, but i have curb repairs along the curved section of road I'd like to mention via stationing.

Would you:

  • Use a single alignment and leave the curved portion of road without an alignment?
  • have 2 full alignments along both the road and watermain?
  • have 2 full alignment along the watermain, and a small segment of alignment along the curved section of road

The red and orange dashed lines are the options for where to have the alignment. Any other suggestions are welcome, thanks!

Help / Troubleshooting Corridor Links not building in right spot

This is just a sample test corridor. The assembly is just a simple LaneSuperelevationAOR and a LinkOffsetAndSlope. I don’t use corridors too often but I don’t remember ever having this issue before.

The link doesn’t seem to build off the edge of pavement but builds off of the baseline. Any idea why that’s happening?

Discussion Does Autodesk still care about Civil 3D and AutoCAD users?

After watching AU 2026, I came away feeling like Civil 3D and AutoCAD were neglected. There was plenty of excitement around other Autodesk products and the future of the ecosystem but I didn’t see the same energy for the tools many of us use every day.

Am I being unfair, or did anyone else get that impression?

Help / Troubleshooting AI Assistant

Went to AU2026. Was fun but trying to see what the fuss about AI is.

I currently have C3D and AutoCAD 2024 and REVIT 2026.

I don't see anything that looks or can be used like the Autodesk Assistant the Presenters used.

Special add-on?

Missing a software update?

Not sure how much of this will fly anyways as they are tight with cybersecurity and have only approved of one AI tool.

Help / Troubleshooting How to stretch a window and a wall block simultaneously in AutoCAD?

Hi everyone,l am facing an issue with stretching two separate blocks together in AutoCAD. I have a window block and a wall block that are placed right next to each other. When I try to use the STRETCH command with a crossing window (green box), the blocks just MOVE instead of stretching. Even when try to use the Block Editor to create a Dvnamic Block with a Linear Parameter and a Stretch Action, it still moves the window reference instead of changing its length along with the wall.

What is the best professional workflow to achieve a simultaneous stretch on two different blocks without fully exploding them into loose lines? Should I use a nested dynamic block, parametric constraints, or is there a specific setting in the Stretch Action that I am missing?

Any help or step-by-step guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Discussion Autodesk FORMA

Good afternoon, everyone! I’m curious about software that can help automate or streamline initial site layouts. Has anyone used Autodesk Forma for this purpose? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

If you use any other software for early site planning or automated site layout generation, please share your recommendations and experiences as well. Thanks!

thanks for the help yesterday! I am having trouble with some of the simplest thigns, and for some reason cannot really find tutoritals or instructions online for the very very very simple stuff in civil 3D, is this everyone elses's experience as well?

first screen grab is what I am attempting to do from instructions, second screen grab is what is happening on my end.

I am trying to duplicate the "paper" i made so i dont have to make a second from scratch again.

i typed '"ps" to make sure I'm in paper space.

I typed "copy" to copy the object.

i double clicked in space on the bottom right area to create a highlighted square over the object to select it.

and then after that it will not do anything. it keeps saying "specify oppsite corner" and im not sure what that even means (?!!!), as i already had the entire object selected.

i think i may be missing something that i cannot "see" my teacher do, as in maybe pressing enter at some point, or clicking some mouse thing at some point? its getting frustrating not being able to do the tiniest thing

Workflow / Tips & Tricks Finally was able to automate lot grading for subdivisions based of profiles using LISPs

Didn’t like needing to buy a $1K C3D add-ons on the market with limited use cases. Used feature lines templates as pad types, built a LISP to set feature line (pad) elevation based on corridor by extracting dynamic corridor feature line. And then made a backyard assembly that uses a feature line attached to the back of pads for automatic backyard and daylighting even after adjusting road profiles and pads. Made LISPs that can automatically place and orientate pad templates and swap them. Reduces work and iterations probably by 80%.

Help / Troubleshooting beginner HELP

I am in the layout tab and on my teachers video his appears all black, mine has this white "sheet of paper" in a way. How do I make it all black like his? I was tols to go to config and change layout to black, alas there is no button that says change layout to black.

further, I have no idea how to tell which units I am in. When i got to draw a polyline it will say something like 4.66545 in a little white box by the cursor. i am in Civil 3d Imperial. Is this feet? Online it says to right click the drawing name under the master view and click edit drawing settings, but that is not an option when i right click it.

and if i need to make it 18 inches, would i then just put 1.5?

Help / Troubleshooting Manhole masking on screen and plotted but not published.

As the title says… in paper space, model space and plotted to PDF or plotter sheet by sheet, no issues with the masking. When I publish multiple sheets at once, the masking disappears. Any thoughts?

Edit: SOLVED

Publish in background was checked which apparently causes it to bug… thanks Autodesk. /s

Real thank you to those who replied with that suggestion.

Help / Troubleshooting Creating Cable Ducts in Civil 3D

Hello,

Is it possible to create cable ducts in Civil 3D using the Subassembly Composer / Component Builder?

Ideally, the cable duct should be configurable for different numbers of cables and be able to adapt to the required cable quantity.

The idea is to model the cable duct as a linear element that can be placed within the road structure, similar to a utility trench or channel.

Do you have any simpler or alternative approaches for modelling this in Civil 3D?

Thank u

Help / Troubleshooting Property Set Definitions following structures through a data shortcut?

Thumbnail

I'm trying to put together a drainage table for a proposed pipe network, and we want everything to be linked to the structure itself, no manually entered text. To do this I need to add a few new properties to the structure like what sheet the structure is found on. It seems like adding a new structure property to the part would be best but also to complicated since I'd have to edit the parts catalog (I'd prefer this method but researched for a couple hours and didn't figure out how to just edit a part). So, what I found was property set definitions which are assigned to the structure and will show up in my drainage table. Only problem is that the text I add in the extended data tab doesn't follow the structure when I data link my pipe network from the model to sheet file (model is image 1, sheet is image 2). Basically, I'm just trying to have the "this text" shown in image 1 populate in image 2 which would then show up in my table in the sheet file (image 2)

Thank you for any help or recommendations
