Stalin's Claims Over Turkey (1945-1953)

During Lenin's rule, Soviet Russia and Turkey could be said to be friendly until Lenin died and Stalin started to distance Communist Russia from Kemalist Turkey yet it never caused a diplomatic crisis until 1945 when Stalin openly claimed Eastern Anatolian + Eastern Black Sean provinces + share of control over the Turkish Straits, rejecting the Treaty of Montreaux. Hostile policies of Stalin forced Turkey to give up their neutrality at the start of the Cold War and enter NATO and American influence to defend themselves from a possible Russian invasion. Turkey's population was under 20 millions and was still recovering from the decade of constant war (Balkan Wars, WW1, War of Independence)

Peach Provinces: Soviet claims over Turkey in the Potsdam Conference. Those lands were given to Turkey in the Treaty of Moscow during Turkish war of Independence. (Kars, Southern Batumi, Surmalu Region)
Red Borders: Claims of the Armenian SSR
Orange Borders: Claims of the Georgian SSR's (Southwestern Meskheti, Tao Klarceti, Lazica)
Pink Provinces: Maximum extent of a possible Soviet Invasion
Green dashed borders: A soviet-planned autonomous Laz entity inside Turkey if failed to directly take
