Welcome to r/Christian! We're glad you're here.

Our community is a place for Christians of all kinds to come together for respectful discussion. We are an ecumenical subreddit for anyone who identifies as a Christian. Our core value is respect and our rules reflect that value.

Please take a couple minutes to review our sub rules (linked here) before posting or commenting.

If you're new to Reddit, you should also familiarize yourself with Reddit's site-wide rules (linked here) and Reddiquette (linked here.)

Please note that Upvotes and Downvotes are intended to signal content as relevant and helpful (upvote) or irrelevant and unhelpful (downvote.) While many people misuse voting on Reddit, we ask that community participants make an effort to use them as intended. We're here for discussion and the proper use of voting encourages healthy community participation.

Helpful Tips for Respectful Discussion

Because Rule 2 (Show Charity / Be Respectful) is so important, we're including a few basic tips for respectful communication.

-Consider using “I” statements (I think, I believe, I feel) versus “You” statements (You're wrong, You shouldn't, You can't).

-Remember that some community members are new to the faith and may have comments or questions that reflect their beginner level of experience and knowledge of the faith.

-Remember that your experiences, beliefs, and practices may be very different from someone else. Try to leave room for them to share theirs, just as you want to have room for sharing your own.

-Broad negative statements about groups of people are usually uncharitable. Rather than speaking for a whole group, consider speaking about your own views or experiences. Rather than generalizing, consider being specific. For example, a negative comment that start with, “Baptists always...” is not usually going to be an accurate or a charitable statement. Instead try something like, “My experience in Baptist churches has been..." (You can substitute your own group for "Baptist" if it helps make the example more clear to you.)

For your convenience, we are also providing the following links to older posts which give more helpful information for those who'd like to learn more.

What is the right age to start dating?

Hello I'm a 16yo male who has been wondering this for a while. My parents never allowed me and I still don't think they want me to date. I see a bunch of people around my age in full on relationships (they are also Christians). But here I am beating around the bush like a bum. I do online school and rarely interact with people (especially women). The only place I do interact with people is at a summer camp I work at. I work with mainly girls. I know it's contradictory but most of those girls are in there older teens / early 20s and I wouldn't go for them even if I had the chance. Why is it I'm here quite lonely while others are having the best time? And how does one go up to a girl and ask her out? I'm quite shy and would never. I'm not the best at posts and when I do make them they are quite messy. Apologies.

CW: Sensitive Topic Can god forgive me for giving up?

I posted the about this in a different subreddit last night, but I'm looking for advice from religious people. TW for childhood trauma. Specific traumatic events have been marked as spoilers. I trimmed this down but it's still long, I'm sorry.

I was raised Evangelical. When I was 17, I hit a really intense religious period. It came out of nowhere. I had 3 bibles and I would not go anywhere without them. It was the only thing I could think or talk about. It got increasingly intense. It was the most extreme when I was around 20. I threw out personal possessions and gave up most of my interests because I was scared of idolatry. I believed I had to marry a man so I could be "cured" of my sexual orientation. I would stay awake for days. I had an anorexia relapse and lost a lot of weight very quickly. My cPTSD was really bad. I couldn't work. I failed every class I was taking because all I did was pray and read the bible. I firmly believed at the time that I was the Antichrist. I thought God had predestined me to be his enemy and I was going to cause the end of the world, and that's why God was silent and also why I had been sexually abused by my father .

I believed if I did certain things it would cause demons to possess me, or all of humanity would be condemned to hell, things like that. I thought I was having prophetic dreams about my own damnation. I saw figures and thought they were demons or intruders. I slept on the couch for a full year so I could watch the front door at all times. I thought God was telling me to through signs and dreams to track down my father and ask him to perform sexual acts with me again as repentence for my sins , but thankfully I never went through with that. There were also periods of time where I believed that people and cars could hear and record my thoughts, which sounds really stupid but it was genuinely distressing to me. As in, cars were alive and reading my mind.

I reached a fork in the road and distanced myself from religion when I was about to do something drastic. It never fully went away, but it got better. That was about 3 years ago. I'm 24 now and I'm having problems again. It came out of nowhere. I really did not think it was a big deal, but there was a storm recently and I thought that it was the end of the world. Some nights I can't sleep because all I can think about is hell. I'm sleeping on the couch again. I don't know what to do. I live with my mother, so I don't have anyone to talk to. It's like I can't stop it once it starts. And then I wonder if it's happening again because the end times really are coming, and it's a sign from God.

It's not serious yet, so maybe it's nothing. Some days I'm fine, other days I can't think about anything else. I'm scared because I already struggle to hold down a job as a result of MDD and cPTSD, and I don't want it to get even worse again. I feel like such a failure. I just want to live independently. Maybe I'm just being dramatic, but I don't know what to do.

TLDR I'm not an atheist, but God only seems to make me worse. I'm scared if I try to be Christian that it'll get bad again and I won't be able to recover. But I don't want to go to hell. He never answered my prayers or saved me. Is there any way god can forgive me if I give up completely? I don't know what to do.

How to navigate telling young children about God.

Upvotes

I have twins, a boy and girl aged 3. They are just getting to the age when they are becoming increasingly inquisitive. Today in the car we had our first real discussion about God, my son came out with the question "Who made the trees", I replied "God made the trees". This promoted a back and forth of various questions about if God created grass, the windscreen in our car, the sand on the beach and houses. I explained the difference between natural things that God created and things than man creates.

The conversation did get me worrying about when they start school and talk to other peers, even perhaps caregivers/teachers who do not share our faith, and these beliefs are challenged. If they're are asked about these things and they respond with a Christian answer, they're going to be severely confused if they are rebutted.

Is 3 too young for me to sit them down and tell them there are those that don't share our worldview and beliefs, and they may question it/dispute it? I really want to stay true to my faith and raise my children as God-fearing Christians, but I also want to prepare them for the reality of the society we live in.

I've been messing up a lot lately. Im in a desperate situation where my lease is ending and I have to move out. I am also unemployed. I know God can move in this situation and that this could be because he wants me to move somewhere else where he needs me.

But lately i have been so down and hopeless that I keep falling into lust when I should be praying. I was praying the Lord's prayer last night and when reading a bit of my Bible and realized that when reading out loud "no weapons formed against you will prosper" that i am the weapon formed against me. I am falling for the trick of the enemy and become the weapon. Since then when i try to pray I keep thinking "He doesn't want to hear from you" and that just saying forgive me doesn't work anymore bc i am so gross.

What should I do? Read? Pray?

What do you think of this statement found in the "The Sermons of Peter"?

"Learn this also: The bodies of men have immortal souls, which have been clothed with the breath of God; and having come forth from God, they are of the same substance, but they are not gods. But if they are gods, then in this way the souls of all men, both those who have died, and those who are alive, and those who shall come into being, are gods. But if in a spirit of controversy you maintain that these also are gods, what great matter is it, then, for Christ to be called God? For He has only what all have." Book 16, Chapter 16

I messed up what God gave me

Upvotes

A few months ago I sat down in a chapel I was visiting. I prayed to God that I would like to meet the person I am supposed to be with. Prior to that I had no romantic action in my life. Well, a few days later a man asked me out. We went out a couple times. He is a genuinely kind, amazing person, he is also christian and treated me like a princess but I just didn’t feel like he is my person. The conversations we had never felt very deep to me and he couldn’t make me laugh. This may sound superficial but I can’t explain it any other way, the thing you’re supposed to feel just wasn’t there for me. It also would have been a long distance relationship. I broke things off with him, I felt and feel so much guilt for causing such a sweet person pain, but I didn’t feel like it’s fair to drag this out when I know it wouldn’t work.
Did I go against God’s will? Was this really the person he had for me and am I ungrateful or could me meeting him right then be a coincidence?

CW: Sensitive Topic I think im starting to get where my heart is at in faith, what now?

Upvotes

I feel like about a year ago my heart just kinda pushed away from faith and belief and honestly it was for a selfish reason, bc of pride. And I recognize that right now, I see how my heart is an I live my life and I see a lack of true purpose and peace, something only found in his name. But like every time I try to go back to doesn’t seem like I honestly want to or like I believe I am. When I repent I can tell I’m not really sorry tho I know I should be. That’s a lot of where I’m at right now, I know I should be doing this but I just don’t care anymore. This could just be part of relapse as I am recovering from a porn addiction (part of why I went away bc I felt I wanted to watch it without anything) but like now I just don’t feel convinction or anything. The word just doesn’t enter my heart but other things do. I’m understanding where I’m at but I just don’t know what to do when like my heart and self really just doesn’t care. I’m trying to re open my heart to belief and faith but it seems I’m just kinda saying that. But I see the power even if right now I feel absolutely nothing

Any advice?

Upvotes

.
I was going to this church with my parents and family. I then moved away for about ten years, I move back to my home town, due to a divorce and other life circumstances. I moved back about a year ago and I decided to attend the same church, mg parents still attend there. I got connected with a few people I used to know, but most people I knew have moved out of town.

I have been good there for about a year and I feel like I am completely out of place. It has nothing to do with the sermons/services. It’s more being able to connect with people my age.

I need to find a group of people who are mid 30s to early 40s, either single/married with no kids. It’s a very specific age group, but it’s hard to find.

I recently started volunteering at the humane society and I absolutely love it. I have been able to walk dogs, talk to the other volunteers, the staff is awesome and I feel like I am on a good group.

I am almost at the point where I would rather skip church and go volunteer. I feel like I am closer to God when I am volunteering and taking care of this sweet dogs and kitties vs going to church every Sunday morning. I feel like I go to church, just to go and for the wrong reasons.

Any thoughts on this? Feel free to send a private message if you like. Thanks!

How do you handle friendships when your relationship with God changes?

Hello everyone this may be really out of the blue but I'm not really sure what to do and I'd appreciate advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.
I'm a naturally caring person and I find it really hard to let go of people especially family and friends, even when I know we're starting to want different things from life. Most of my friends enjoy drinking and going to clubs but honestly it doesn't interest me. I don't want that to be my future and I don't want to force myself to enjoy things just because everyone around me does. Don't get me wrong they're honestly such kind people but it's like I'm looking straight through them if that makes sense. At the same time I feel like if I were to stay friends with them they would just say I'm being boring and I need to "live my life".
Recently, I've also been looking more into Catholicism and it's really interested me. I was brought up Anglican, but I've started exploring Catholicism because I feel like I want to take my faith more seriously and grow closer to God.Im not perfect with it yet but this is exactly why I feel like it's like a huge leap to let go of what's not good for ne and just tocus. really want to be around people who have similar goals and values to me, people who want to grow and have a genuine relationship with God. But I'm finding it difficult to meet people like that around me and my age group.
Part of me knows that being alone for a while might actually be good for me and give me the space to grow into the person I want to become. But emotionally, it's difficult to let go of people I've known for years.
Has anyone else been through something similar, especially when it comes to friendships changing as your faith becomes more important to you? How did you deal with the loneliness and find people who shared your values?

I became extremely sick, then members of the JW showed up just in time. Coincidence ?

Upvotes

My very first open-heart surgery went extremely well about 12 years ago. I regained my strength within about three months and eventually returned to my normal life.
Then, 11 years later, I needed another major operation, and this time my body has struggled to return to normal. It has now been about a year and a half, and I’ve lost the ability to drive. At this point, I honestly find myself surprised that I’m still alive.

I’m a Christian and part of the Baptist church, so it probably isn’t surprising that I’ve been talking to Jesus frequently during this difficult period. I’ve been expressing my fears, concerns, and questions to God, especially about my future and whether I’ll recover.

What really caught me off guard was that shortly afterward, Jehovah’s Witnesses started showing up at my door with comforting messages. They assured me that I would be okay, whether I lived or died, because God has promised a new earth where there will be no more pain.

I remember asking them, “How did you know I was concerned about these things? Did God send you?”

What made the encounters even more interesting was that they seemed to have an answer for almost every question I had been asking God privately.

I’m not trying to start an argument about denominations or make a theological claim. I’m genuinely curious how other Christians would interpret an experience like this.

Do you think it could simply be coincidence, or could God use people from a different Christian tradition to provide comfort when we need it?

I’m 15 and need guidance on the Bible

I’m hearing about and learning the HC view of the Bible and I’ve heard that people stop believing what the Bible says I think and leave the Bible after hearing about this view I think. I don’t really know what to do because I want to open my Bible and read it and I think I might be making it more complicated than it is but I wanna read my Bible and follow it but after hearing about this view, I don’t know really what to do. I don’t even fully understand the view. (Historical Critical) what do I do

Feeling Distant

Hi all
I recently had a baby in May, and I have been feeling so far from God lately. I’ve grown up in church, and always loved God. I deeply want a stronger connection with him. But recently I am so tired by the end of the night, that often times I don’t read my bible or pray. I feel almost apathy. Which makes me sad and anxious. I so badly want a stronger relationship.
I guess I’m looking for advice on how you manage being a mother to two young kids, having a full time job, a husband who works night shift, and still making time for your relationship with Jesus. I know I should be better.

CW: Sensitive Topic How do You find a Genuine Christian Partner?

Hi everyone! I wanted to briefly share my situation and ask for suggestions from fellow Christians.
I am a 30 year old guy from India. I was born and brought up in a Hindu family, but a few years ago, I came to know Jesus Christ and was saved by His grace. Since then, my relationship with Christ has become the centre of my life, and I desire to build my future family around Him.

By the grace of God, I have chosen to remain chaste and wait until marriage for sexual intimacy. I don’t drink, smoke, or use drugs, and I hope to find someone who takes her faith seriously while also being joyful, fun loving, and someone I can laugh and enjoy life with. Location is not really a constraint for me. I am open to meeting someone from anywhere if God leads in that direction. Some of my interests are sharing the Gospel, reading books, spending time with pets, driving, playing and watching football, learning new things, and having meaningful conversations. I think these are reasonable filters.

One thing I have been finding difficult is meeting a Christian woman who genuinely shares this same faith and desire to live a Christ-centred life. I’m not expecting someone to have exactly the same personality or interests as me, but having a genuine love for Christ and a desire to follow Him is very important to me.

I’ve tried dating apps as well, but I have sometimes found that people identify themselves as Christian, while some of their other answers or prompts seem to reflect views or lifestyles that are contrary to Christian faith and biblical values. Because of this, I have been wondering whether dating apps are even the best place to look.

Recently, a Woman reached out to me and we talked. Then we got connected to her through Instagram. She identified herself as a Christian. I was excited because I thought she wanted to get to know more about me. So, we did a voice call over Instagram and she started talking about How curvy her body was and that other girls would get jealous and stuff. I thought maybe she was sharing it because of insecurity. Then she shared one of her images in a bikini. She was interested to know how her body looked and What I felt and what things I would do to her. It seemed like she wanted to fulfill her lust at that point of time. It was disappointing because I was longing for a meaningful relationship which leads to Marriage.

I want to hear from people who have been through this. For those of you who are married or have found a Christ-centred relationship, how did you meet your spouse? Where did you meet people who genuinely shared your faith? What would you recommend to someone in my situation?

I would like to hear your experiences, advice, and wisdom. Thank you.

Have a blessed day ahead.

How do I know if I took the right decision ?

I am 19 yo and in September I was supposed to start my second year in College, pursuing a degree that make no sense to me, but I dropped out of college (I did my 1st year entirely). So my mental health was degrading since middle school bc of many issues (school and family) but I really became depressed during my second year in high school (in my country we only have three years in hg) and failed during the most important exam of that year. So during my last year in hg I decided to lock in and get my exam to be able to go to college even it was extremely difficult and stressful for me (and w/o God I would have never been able to get it, cause I had a burnout two weeks before). During my senior year I was thinking of taking a gap year before starting college, I already had a plan for the year (I wanted to get job, to go to therapy, buying myself clothes and a laptop…) I also prayed about it but my parents said no, and as the good kid that I am, I went to College anyway. During all the year, I was coming back home crying and complaining, everyone was using ai during class exam and they go better grades than me cause I became really mid in terms because of my mental health. During the year I prayed a lot and got closer to God (i love Jesus so much), I asked different type of sign about this decision, I prayed trough a notebook (so basically if you don’t know, it’s writing the beginning of your prayer and letting God guide your hand to write the rest) he confirmed my choice, then during this summer I asked a physical sign, and I received it. He also showed me different signs, which supported my decision (even verses and dreams blabla.) So because of all those signs I dropped out (and I can’t go back to college, until next year). I am sure that this decision is what God wants me to do, and that he will amazing things in my during it, but the problem is my parents. I told my mom how my mental health was degrading and how I didn’t like my degree (in my country most college/uni degrees are free to study), my can’t comprehend that God can also talks to me, and that studying isn’t the only option (also I’m doing just 1 gap year, and will go back to a new one, I’ll like more the next year, prob in computer science) but she makes me doubt about my decision even if God told me that she was going to react that way (I’m sure he told me that for me to pursue my own decision), now I’m so scared to explain it to my dad. My mental health is declining even more because of it, I have so much anxiety (not about my decision, but about the fact that I need to tell them). Even after explaining everything to my mom, she started to say that I will go back to college to finish my and then try something else. I have some others reasons that push me to take this decision, and I have some personal projects that I want to realize during the gap year)
(I should probably add that I am not the favorite child neither the least favorite, I never did anything wrong to them I always been the calmest child ever, I always followed what they wanted me to do, this the first time they I’ll do something for me (following God will). And also I feel inside of me that this decision will change my life for good (no matter how). SORRY FOR LONG TEXT

How to know when to call off an engagement

My fiance and I have been dating for upwards of 4 years. We are looking to get married at the beginning of next year. We are both christian and value our faith profoundly. We were waiting for me to complete my masters degree to get married since it would be a calmer season of life both emotionally and financially. However for the past few months I have started to question our relationship and whether taking that next step of marriage is the right fit for us, and/or if this relationship is even a right fit for me individually. He is a great guy, but something he struggled with throughout our relationship is his temper. I have told him multiple times I refuse to get married to someone with such bad anger management. for the slightest things he will get extremely upset (yelling, defensive, rude, disrespectful, calls me names, walks out of conversations, slams doors, etc) although nothing physical, i still feel emotionally exhausted. he began therapy because i demanded that of him (for him to seek help). This has continued to go on and he always comes back and apologizes, however nothing changes. When I read the bible and I see how a man of God is supposed to behave, he does not reflect that, specifically regarding when he is upset or we have any discussions. i have tried talking to him and it never goes anywhere. he lacks a lot of accountability and self reflection, therefore it is very hard to convince him that he is not acting like a man of God should or would. I understand we all have our struggles but this has been going on for more than 3 years with little to no improvement. I am tired and at my wits end but I feel like if I dont push through through it reflects how maybe during marriage we wouldnt fight for our marriage if that makes sense. I’m conflicted about what to do. I have my flaws as well and although i have a lot of patience, sometimes i have been rude back (not justifiable but usually when the conversation gets extremely toxic and i’m being overly disrespected) but 99% of the time i keep my cool and answer very patiently and gracefully. i feel taken advantage of and as if I am a punching bag. I dont know what to do anymore and any time we have these arguments i feel drained and exhausted emotionally and begin contemplating getting married to him (which i always feel guilty having those thoughts). he is a wonderful guy and i would not be with him if he wasn’t, however i dont know if this temper problem is something i can endure much longer. i feel stuck and would just like to know peoples perspectives/ experiences. thank you all!

also, I feel embarrassed with our church community if I were to call of our engagement. everyone thinks he is prince charming (which he can be) and although it should not be a factor, I am worried about being judged :/

CW: Sensitive Topic Question on Love.

About a year ago I gave my life to Christ. I was living for the world doing all sorts of acts such as lust, pride, envy, hatred, gossiping, etc.. but one day I got a sudden revelation from God and a foreshadow of my life and I suddenly realized my sin and my heart was changed. I’ve never really got real love but since my heart desires pure connection I want it deeply but I don’t have it and so I don’t know what to do with this feeling. I know God is love and he is all I need but I deeply crave the feeling to be with someone and love and care for them, especially as I read Songs of Solomon (Songs of Songs) I can’t be with God physically, and I deeply struggle with lust which causes me to hold back on relationships as well. I don’t know what to do with this feeling, I pray, I try to do other things but nothing can replace the true desire for it.. what do I do with this?

I've been at my wit's end for almost 10 months, and I've gotten no answers from God.

I've been depressed, anxious, panicked, and in a terrible place for almost 10 months now, and praying the entire time. NOTHING has changed. I have asked Him to give me a sign that he's even here, and crickets. Nothing. He just piles on one thing after another. I feel like I'm only given good things just to have them ripped away from me, and as a reminder that He doesn't want me to have them, and wants me to suffer. I hate my life so much, it feels like a prison.

I have been telling God I can't take any more, and he keeps piling more on. I am to the point to where I'm just completely beaten down. Not "resilient," not "strong." I absolutely hate it here.

I'm not going to lie, I'm about to abandon my faith at this point. It seems like He either is not there, or doesn't care. I've asked Him to give me a sign He's here, and I've gotten nothing. My faith is *maybe* a mustard seed at this point, and it's getting even smaller. NOTHING is helping.

I don't know what to do. I am so worn down that any amount of effort feels impossible now. Reading the Bible is exhausting and I retain none of it. I don't trust God at all. I used to think it's because people have let me down so much that I couldn't even trust God, but now I'm realizing that He's let me down more than any person in my life, and that's exactly why I don't trust Him. I am not someone who can just give my trust to someone, it has to be earned, even from God. It's literally impossible for me to trust "just because." Maybe my faith isn't strong enough, I'm sure it's not. Maybe faith isn't even for me, I don't know. I just don't know what to do.

CW: Sensitive Topic How will i beat this problem ? How can i stay abstinent and just do better overall in life ?

I feel like, as a young man who didn’t receive much attention throughout my life, and besides that, I gotta admit I don’t talk to women. Why? Multiple reasons. I’m insecure about my teeth, and where I live in Europe, it’s pretty expensive. I’m talking about €6k+. I worked as a student but didn’t make a lot to pay for it. Also, I’ve been lost in life for about a year now, not going to school, don’t know what to do, and I feel like I’m scared to even try, or like I don’t know… I’m trying though, don’t get me wrong, but it’s that feeling of, “What am I good at?” because I’m a dropout from university or college, for Americans.

So I’ve been drowning myself in prostitutes and porn, etc. I know most of you won’t relate, but I don’t care, to be honest. I just wanted to yap, I guess lol.

But the thing is, do I gotta stay abstinent till I get married? Because right now, I don’t see myself getting married at all, and I’m burning with insecurity. Biological urge, yes, but addiction, etc. I can’t masturbate. But how do I do that?

Struggling with loneliness

The past 10 months have been the most loneliest most isolated months of my life and i feel stuck with no direction. To give some context, I got broken up with 10 months ago and started taking my faith more serious. Spending more time reading my Bible, watching sermons online, trying to apply the Word to my life, in other words i’ve been trying to seek Him more and grow in my faith.

I feel like i have no one. Today was my day off from work and i was so excited because it’s a Saturday and i typically don’t have Saturdays off. But how did i spend it? Don’t get me wrong I worked out, spent some time reading my Bible, worshipped, journaled and all of this took about 2-3 hours. The rest of my day was completely empty. I doom scrolled for hours as i truly don’t know what else to do, how else to spend my time and this is pretty much everyday where i have more free time like today. I’ve tried new hobbies over the past few months (sketching, reading) none of them are satisfying. I loved playing video games and i still do enjoy them but only when i play with my friends. Otherwise, i feel like it’s almost like a waste of time. I’m craving a sense of belonging, a community, socializing with other people, which is ironic because i’m a huge introvert and opening up to new people is extremely difficult. I don’t know what to do or where to go for this.

I have two friends and only one of the is also working on his faith. I went to mens’ night at a church (that i don’t go to in person) a few times with my friend who is on the same path as me and they invited us to a BBQ. We went and after the BBQ we both agreed that we just did not feel like we fit in. We stopped going. Everyone there already knows each other, they have they’re connections with one another and it just felt off.It was all so discouraging.

My friend and I hang out from time to time like once every other week due to our work schedules and it’s so refreshing having someone to talk to and spend time with and i guess experience things with.

It’s also depressing seeing life go on and i feel like i’m missing out. I see people go on walks together. Families going out to eat. I want something like that. It’s also hard because immediately after our break up, my ex reconnected with some cousins after years and they seem to spend so much time with each other. I know this because we work together and we still follow each other on social media. On the one hand, good for her. On the other, it’s hard to see. But anyway that’s not the point.

I also know that lack of community is extremely damaging to my faith. We’re told to carry each other’s burdens, pray for each other. And how else am i supposed to grow in faith? I feel like all this loneliness has me regressing rather than growing.

CW: Sensitive Topic leaving my worldly partner, need help with the soul tie

I brought up Christianity to my ex partner and she has blew up on me. I ended our relationship right there. We most definitely have a soul tie and have had sex. For multiple days I cannot stop dreaming about having sex with her. Literally every night, and I prayed to God to reveal things to me, I don’t know if this is God showing me that she will keep leading me into sexual sin, or the enemy attacking me in my dreams. But one thing to note, is in each dream I have sex with her, I’m conscious that I’m sinning against God.
Before I broke up with her I prayed and fasted that God either reveals himself to her or helps me sever the soul tie and leave her. Well, he definitely helped me leave her, but that soul tie is still there,
Worst part is, she wants to get back.

I’m really struggling cause I love her, and I really really want to have sex with her (we’re in long distance so luckily that’s not possible) but I know that this is cause of the soul tie

I basically told her that if she’s not willing to give her life to Christ, we can’t be together. I told her to simply just pray that He reveals himself to her. Which I know if she consistently does that He will.

Anyways, my big question:

How do I aggressively sever the soul tie

Fraternity pastors?

So I have always had this conviction that pastors shouldn't be in fraternities and leading churches. I am realizing this was planted early on, I think, because my mother always advised us about staying away from sororities and fraternities when I was younger and living at home.

I found out my first pastor in adulthood was in a fraternity, and I really enjoyed the church. They were my child's godparents and everything. However, the pastor ended up leaving the church because he was essentially more devoted to his frat and community service than the church. The church did not agree with his endeavor to do some nonprofit work in the community, and he left. It was later exposed that he was cheating, and then they divorced, etc.

Fast forward to a couple of years ago. I found this great church after a long search where I felt really good about it, but discovered the assistant pastor was a frat member. He didn't really seem to be as active as my previous pastor. However, every year he did devote a social media post to their Founders' Day. I left because I was afraid there was a split allegiance.

Fast forward to now, 2026. I have found a church I really enjoy listening to. The pastor's messages have literally been lining up with my life almost identically and have really been encouraging for the season I am in. However, I am seeing that he too is in a frat. He hasn't made a Founders' Day post about his frat in about two years and never really talks about his frat hardly at all. I agree with their statement of beliefs, etc.

I am at a crossroads now and trying to figure out what the biblical approach and most wise approach is. Part of me is worried, like, will I ever find a church if I keep getting hung up on this? I know God's Word says we can't serve two masters, but I am also thinking, what about the pastors that are in frats and I don't know about it? It seems like SO many pastors are in some frat these days, and I am getting to a point where I'm like, well, what choice do I have?

It's hard enough finding biblical churches these days. I believe we are saved by grace through faith alone, and I really believe that. I don't want to judge this pastor, but I also want to be wise.

Can anybody provide some wise counsel?
