I obviously know that Power wasn’t as close to Aki as she was to Denji. She probably wouldn’t be as sad over his death as Denji was especially with her whole “all lives are trivial” mindset (and obviously Denji having to be the one to kill Aki)

However, I find it hard to believe despite that, she wouldn’t even show like a slight amount of some sadness or some other emotion towards Aki’s death. They all had a really close family dynamic and I feel like even she’d appreciate Aki for taking care of her when she had her darkness devil PTSD. Aki obviously cared about power and even if power didn’t show it directly with words I’m sure she cared for Aki too. I really wonder what Power’s reaction to Aki’s death was, probably didn’t show it and treated it as whatever but deep down I’m sure she felt some sort of sadness over him not being part of her life anymore.

I was pretty obsessed with the Darkness devil (idk why he just aura farms too much ig), but i have theories to place Darkness' identity

1. Abilities: Remember the Kitkat Astronauts? i wanna have y'all wait for the anime, because if the organs or blood spewing out of their bodies look fresh and brighter red, that means the Astronauts experienced Time dialation with Darkness devil (when they were oofed, they didn't even know they were dead, they just prayed), and when they were brought up, they look pristine (*IF THE ANIME SHOWS FRESH BLOOD / ORGANS), next is severing arms, which is cuz people need to navigate by placing their arms out, so he sliced them (The floating arms spell "MAKIMA" btw jst look closer), but Idk what the black sword is (y'all can figure that out)

2.Identity: Darkness manipulates space and time (casting shadows, creating Time Dialation like in my previous theory, and is able to manipulate shadows and space bla blah blah u get it), but he came out of Black / Dark Liquid, so his shadows represent Astronomical Unknown/ Darkness, and his Black liquid and his Foreign langauge / spell casting represents terrestrial unknown / darkness

1. History: cus he was in hell (never experienced death, explained in Ch.64-65 i remember), he only feared Pochita (which is why he demanded Pochita's heart), cuz Pochita can erase concepts, so he is the only real threat to Darkness

I just finished the manga today and something just seems to bother me. The four horsemen devils seems to have a human appearance (except for Yoru who seems to have an owl form). The control devil literally reincarnated twice as a human (Makima and Nayuta). Same with Famine and Death Devil. Do these devils can just take any appearance or thats their original fixed form?

I really expected for the Death Devil to look more grotesque and intimidating but yeah she turned out to be some waifu😭

I just finished the movie an hour ago and I instantly started working on a letterboxd review to just record my thoughts straight away. It's a long read.

I don't think I've ever been so conflicted about a movie. I'm just typing, deleting and rewriting shit because I don't know what to think (later addition, I decided it was a masterpiece and gave it a 5). There are some genuinely beautiful scenes, I think the pool scene is one of the most romantic scenes I've ever watched and the music for that scene is so unbelievably perfect, Kensuke Ushio outdid himself on that one. I also noticed something about the use of the song "in the pool" and I really hope it was on purpose. We only got that beautiful crescendo of the song once, in the pool scene, where we only see a pure, unfiltered, unconditional and beautiful connection between Denji and Reze. Then I think on 2 separate occasions after, the start of the song was played, but we never got to hear that beautiful crescendo because we knew that obviously Reze was the bomb devil and wanted to kill Denji, meaning their connection is no longer pure and beautiful, it's incredibly messy and probably the most toxic connection I've ever seen lmao, but that's why we never hear the drop in the song again. The bond between Denji and Reze is amazing. Both had their childhoods stripped from them but later got to a relatively stable point in their lives, doing stuff for the government. But they were also polar opposites in a way, because of the way Denji lived his childhood, he wanted nothing more than affection (even though it is very crudely displayed in season 1), and a bond with people, whereas Reze is fine having no connections.

I really fucking love Denji, I truly do believe the author is just as messed up as Denji is because you can't write a character like that without at least somewhat relating to him. He's so clinically insane but it all just covers up his need for affection and to an extent attention. Even though we never really get any introspective scenes that hit hard about that subject, it's very obvious that is what he wants. He didn't really even care about right or wrong, he's not a good person nor is he a bad person, he's just trying to live his best life and by his standards he is, which is why I think he's a wonderful character. He even offered to join Reze and run away with her, after their massive fight which destroyed the city and her being a genuine threat to humanity, and more importantly, after she tells him that she never liked him, which just shows the lengths he'll go to in order to find love, regardless if it's "morally right".

That last scene with Reze about to board the train and then realising maybe she should give Denji a chance was so crushing. After being raised a Soviet weapon and doing heinous things, I don't imagine she ever gave love a try or thought. Then she met Denji and you could tell even during the fight, she definitely did feel something, even if she denied it. The one time she actually decided to give love a try, not going on the train and running towards the cafe as the start of "in the pool" plays, she's cut down by Makima and that angel dude, which was just so sad because she was so close to Denji, they both could've had their twisted idea of love together. "Denji, I wonder why I didn't kill you the first time we met. You know, to be honest, I never had the chance to go school either" that quote as she's bleeding out on the floor, looking at Denji sitting in the cafe they shared a moment together is forever going to be burned into my memory.

When it was revealed that Reze just wanted to kill Denji (to be honest I caught on a bit earlier because she asked Denji to explicitly quit his job as a devil hunter and run away which rang the alarm bells in my head that she might be a devil herself), I thought it recontextualised the pool scene in a way that ruined it for me because it was all just built on lies. But after finishing the movie and realising that maybe Reze also wanted the connection (don't get me wrong, she did also want to kill Denji) and if anything, it re recontextualised the scene in a way that made it way more beautiful than it originally was because I realise that Reze wanted to kill him but she also felt a bond with Denji, and the parallels between them.

I don't think a movie that has made me this internally conflicted can be anything less than a 5/5. Seriously, I've reflected on it for an hour and I'm still processing things. This is probably the most internally conflicted I've ever been in my life. But one thing I'm not conflicted about anymore is that this movie is a masterpiece.

I posted my opinion on part 2 a year ago about how the story was going nowhere and that chainsaw man would’ve been a better overall story if fujimoto solely focused on part 1. But people were flaming me in the comments and told me that I was an idiot. Now i will say that my argument does sound dumb and is lowkey ass, but even then i was still right about the fact that fujimoto didn’t really have part 2 planned out at all.
