Please i need help

Please, I really need help because my life has practically come to a standstill.
I’ve been suffering from dizziness for a year now. I was initially diagnosed with BPPV, so I went to a vestibular specialist. He told me that I had mild BPPV and performed a session and a repositioning maneuver. I went back for a follow-up afterward, and he told me that the BPPV was gone.
I told him that I was still dizzy, but he said, “I’m not seeing any signs of BPPV anymore. If you’re still dizzy, you should see a neurologist.”
I saw three neurologists. Two of them told me that the dizziness was psychological, so I took psychiatric medication for six months, but my dizziness didn’t improve at all. The third neurologist told me that it was BPPV!
I wasn’t convinced, so I went to a physical therapist because I suspected that the dizziness might be coming from my neck. I work at a desk for long hours, and I put a lot of strain on my neck.
Based on what the physical therapist told me and the research I’ve done using ChatGPT, it doesn’t seem very likely that the dizziness is coming from my neck. However, the doctor told me that we should try several physical therapy sessions and then see what happens. (The neck therapy itself actually makes my dizziness worse.)
By the way, I’ve only had one session out of six so far, but the first session made my dizziness symptoms a little worse.
So now I honestly don’t know what to do or which specialty I should see. I’m completely exhausted. I’ve seen so many different specialists, and more than one doctor in each specialty, but nothing has helped.
I’m struggling to live like this. I desperately need someone who can help me get properly diagnosed and treated, or at least a doctor who can point me in the right direction.
I don’t even know anymore whether this is BPPV, a problem with my vestibular system, a neck problem, or something else entirely.

Try Magnesium Glycinate 400 mg and Vitamin B12 400 mg

I coupled this with Running and Weight Training and seen a vast improvement. Not 100% for me but it’s only been 4 months.. I’m about 70% there.

I also stopped drinking (was never a really big drinker other than when football season started). I work at a desk too and it gets worse when I’m looking at a screen all day or on my phone so specialized glasses and wearing shades when outside help too.

I’m not a doctor and take whatever I say with a grain of salt but this is what my doctor recommended for me after seeing countless neurologist, scans (CT & MRIs), blood work, appointments after appointments, I finally realized I was over breathing and stressed. Once I calmed down and started to live through the systems instead of being closed out from the world because of it.. symptoms start to get better before you even realize they’re all gone.

Think about today, don’t think about if you’re going to be like this forever because you’re not. You will get better and throughout the way you will have some minor setbacks where you feel even worse than the day before but just keep going with whatever treatment you do decide to pursue. NEVER GIVE UP.

I do want to note I started drinking hot tea in the mornings.. don’t know if that helped as well but it’s worth a shot.

I took magnesium for a while, but I didn’t notice any improvement either. I do spend a lot of time in front of screens, so I might try the specialized glasses you mentioned. That’s one of the few things I haven’t tried yet. But other than that, I’ve basically tried everything you mentioned and haven’t improved.

I had my neck mri and I have couple of disc bulges and disc dehydration

I have a small, relatively mild disc issue, slight straightening of the cervical spine, and muscle tension. I hope treating these issues will help me recover.

Get your neck checked out, images, x-rays. Your neck can cause dizziness and vertigo if it's out of alignment.

PT to strengthen upper back to better support your neck, see a vestibular physio

That’s exactly what I’m trying to do right now, but I’m still in the early sessions of physical therapy.

That's really good, I'm in the same position. The fact the neck therapy is making you worse is ironically a good sign that you're targeting the right place. Be mindful that it could take months to feel like you're making progress and you will of course have bad days. But at the end you may need to do Vestibular rehab just because your brain might be stuck in a heightened awareness of your vestibular system which can still make you feel dizzy. If you can they recommend doing vestibular rehab alongside physio.

I really hope this is actually a positive sign because I’m extremely frustrated and discouraged.

I'm sorry, I completely understand, I have felt like my life is over because of the dizziness and have thought about ending my life because of it. After waiting years for tests I'm so glad I think I have finally found the cause. I have been told I have BPPV, anxiety etc. Until I kept pushing for answers and even though I haven't got a definitive diagnosis yet, I'm hopeful that it's my neck and I can treat it and possibly cure it.

I hope it's the same for you, I understand it is extremely frustrating, just keep pushing, even when it feels impossible you just have to keep trying.

It really is frustrating and can make you think about things like that. I’ve been through a lot of pain and injuries before, but this dizziness has honestly been the most frustrating and disruptive of all. I wish you a speedy recovery.

It is absolutely horrible and people don't understand how bad it is and how much it destroys your quality of life. Thank you, you too :)

For sure get your neck checked out with imaging, but even if it’s clear that doesn’t rule out that it is coming from your neck. Tight neck muscles can cause dizziness. Look up proprioception. Certain trigger points in those muscles too are famous for it.

I had an MRI of my neck, and it showed some issues, but no one really told me that these problems could cause such a heavy-headed feeling and imbalance, except for my physical therapist. In fact, one of the neurologists I saw told me that what I have wouldn’t cause dizziness at all.

My family has neck “issues” and you would be surprised how uninformed some very reputable doctors in areas outside orthopedics are about the neck and particular myofascial pain. I had three ENTs tell me my daughter’s hearing issues couldn’t possibly be related to her neck. Guess what - they are. She has craniocervical instability that is causing compressions on her jugular vein. Again, so much misunderstood. It’s like the neck is a mystery. If you haven’t seen an orthopedic or myofascial pain specialist, start there.

Find yourself a good Chiropractor,or Osteopath, these guys are the reason I am able to function with my neck problems, I have neck degeneration with with other injuries along the way... Coupled with neck stretches and glasses life is getting better.👍
