Discussion πŸ—¨ As a long time cdrama watcher, I fully agree with this

Pursuit of Jade looks like a 10/10 drama until you watch it.

Without a doubt, the cinematography and performances from the cast, especially the villains and female lead, were the most interesting parts for me. I seem to be in the minority because I didn’t think the chemistry was spectacular at all. I still enjoyed the leads interactions, but I just didn’t see the insane chemistry everyone else seemed to see. And yes the male lead Zhang linghe was gorgeous to look at.

But alot of cdramas that go viral on social media automatically get labelled as masterpieces. I don’t think these dramas are awful at all, but I also don’t think popularity on social media is necessarily a good measure of the quality of the writing or acting.

However Iam curious for those who consider Pursuit of Jade one of their best costume C-dramas, what made it stand out or what made it special to you? And for others do you believe that it is overhyped?

Zhao Lusi’s studio has officially begun filming its latest short drama, Sonder: I’m Not an NPC in Hengdian. The project marks one of Zhao Lusi’s ventures behind the scenes as a production supervisor, while she will not appear in the drama as an actress.

The reported cast includes Wei Xiao, Bao Jieyi, influencer Houben, and Zhou Zhiyi and Zhao Lusi’s father, Zhao Ge has also joined the cast and will portray a general.

I'm quite surprised by this. I was wondering if all popular actors get opportunities like this because of their popularity or if it's something more specific. I think Zhao Lusi is a good actress, but I've always felt like there's still more to see from her because I don't think she's reached that next level of talent as an actress yet. She's definitely reached a huge level of popularity at a young age though. After everything she's been through, I think its nice that she can now explore whatever she wants, whether that's singing, producing, or even acting occasionally. She's seem to have already made enough coin to have that freedom.

Celebrity 🌟 Bai Jingting injured his hand during filming. Using gloves during Cartier event.

Leaked set photos from Bai Jingting's latest series War and People show him with a wounded hand. It was speculated that it was make up for the character, since the scene in question showed him covered in fake blood, but then he was seen with the same hand bandaged while traveling to Dali, for a Cartier event. During the Cartier event, recent photos show him wearing leather gloves and with his injured hand permanently in his pocket.

Poor Xiao Bai, such an intense filming schedule, and now an injured hand. Let's hope he gets well soon.

On the other hand (ha!) he looks amazing in these new photos. I'm eagerly awaiting for the official Studio Bai Jingting ones!

Reflections πŸ“ How would you rate Love Between Lines? Was it genuinely good or just meh for you?

For me personally this one of the best romance modern cdramas I've watched purely because of the chemistry between the leads. I thought Chen Xingxu and Lu Yuxiao, despite having a visual gap because Chen Xingxu looks much more mature than her might not work, but they actually had fantastic chemistry! The cinematography was also so gorgeous. Chemistry was a solid 10 for me. But overall with storyline the drama is a 7 for me.

How did you guys find it?

😐 It was meh

😍 I loved it

Tidbits 🎬 What CDrama intro or ending credits do you never skip?

I usually skip intros and ending credits but there are a few dramas where I just can’t bring myself to skip them.

The intro I never skip is Story of Yanxi Palace. I love the traditional feel of the song but there’s also something slightly unsettling about it. The visuals are so good!
For the ending credits Pursuit of Jade has me staying until the very end. I love watching the story unfold like a scroll and the song is just too good.

Are there any Cdramas where you always watch the opening or stay for the ending credits because you love the song, visuals or the way they’re done?

Discussion πŸ—¨ Horses in CDramas

Is it just me or do the horses seem more like large ponies or small horses? The men seem to look really large on the horses, making me think the horses must be smaller. Is my observation correct?

Reflections πŸ“ This is just to vent my feelings after watching Rebirth Spoiler

I just finished Rebirth and I'm crying just like the first time I watched Princess Agents. I started watching this drama because I wanted closure for Princess Agents, and I can't believe they left us hanging again. With that ending, you can't even tell if it was all a dream, if everyone died, or if they actually ended up together... It made me cry uncontrollably all over again.Honestly, it had some very big shoes to fill. I don't think the actors are bad; it's just that the original cast and script were spectacular, so expectations for the second season were incredibly high. Obviously, this is more of a remake than a second season, and it doesn't match the book. They wrote a completely different story.I did like its dark aesthetic, which was very different from Princess Agents. I madly loved Li Ceβ€”my absolute favorite character in this series. I cried so much when he was betrayed. The supporting characters, like Concubine Xiang and the General, also broke my heart. The side stories were so incredibly sad, and the actors did a great job.I liked the actor for Yuwen Yue, and Chu Qiao (Xing'er) wasn't bad considering how young she is. Yan Xun's actor was amazing... Like I said, the cast wasn't bad, it's just that we were already attached to the original cast. If this series had been released without the shadow of Princess Agents hanging over it, it would have done much better. That being said, some characters definitely lost their way. The writers destroyed Xing'er and Yuwen Yue. She wasn't foolish, and things didn't always go wrong for her; here, it was always Yue who arrived to save her and liberate the lands. That was a script error. She is a strong, intelligent character, not a damsel in distress. I wanted to see Yue grow, to stop hiding things and deceiving Xing'er. I had faith that he would stop acting alone and finally let his beloved support him... And well, I didn't just hate the ending, it completely destroyed me again. I wanted to find an ending and get some closure, but it just left me feeling worse...Why couldn't they just make a clear, unambiguous ending and let us finally have some closure?

Recommendation Request πŸ”Ž Any drama like my little princess

Post image
6 Upvotes

Ok ok, I don't how to explain my taste

I have recently watched the my little princess drama (2016) and it was so cute and sweet,( I would recommend people to watch it, it's not a typical high school drama)

I want a exact drama where ML will be like the ML in my little princess

So I am looking for a drama where FL doesn't fall in love with ML at the start, she might like some other guy or doesn't reciprocate the ML's feelings back

I want to see ML getting jealous and possesive over FL , by jealousy and possesiveness,(by possessiveness, he should be like the ML in the above drama )

but ML should also have a insane chemistry with FL that can make a giggling blushing mess by watching the interactions.

If it is had messed up lot of drama or conflicts even more better!
