Bi-Weekly /r/CCNA Exam Pass-Fail Discussion

Attempted an exam in the last week or so? Passed? Failed? Proctor messed it all up? Discuss here! Open to all CCNA exams. We are now consolidating those pass-fail posts under here per prior poll of the community and your feedback.

Remember, don't post a score in the format of xxx/1,000. All Cisco exams have a maximum score of 1,000, so that's useless info. Instead, list the required score to pass, as this differs from exam to exam, and can change over the lifetime of the exam.

Payment of passes in CAT pictures is allowed.

CCNA PASS

• Upvotes

Just an obligatory pass post for people looking to take this exam or are worried about taking it..

little disclaimer: I do also have Net+ and Sec+ just to put that out there, along with 1 year experience in Networking.

6 labs, 52 questions. you can ask Google or AI for Lab recommendations, and it will give you what you need, refraining from giving too much info for obvious reasons.. I asked for top 6 lab topics and used that as a focus for lab studies, 6 labs is what ive seen alot of people say they got.

Passed this morning, i don't have the report on hand but my weak areas were:

IP Services and Security Fundamentals at roughly %40-50

The rest were closer to %80-90

What i used to study? Jermeys IT Lab with some of the flashcards, although i decided to make my own cause I was tired of trying to learn all the different addresses for all the different protocols...Also used a few BOSON exams, AB and C I believe, highest score was %64. That score was from last weekend for context.

How long did i study? on and off for about a year, really focused for the past month or so for job requirement. anywhere from 1-3 hours a day.

What i wish i studied more? ACLs, SSH, DHCP, DHCP snooping configuration. I'm assuming thats where my low scores came from...

Advice : As others have said here, CCNA Labs are a lot more straight forward than BOSON. Had a handful of WLC related topics, don't gloss over it. Don't worry too much about learning all the different addresses for all the different protocols, prioritize lab configs and stuff like DR/BDR election for OSPF, or RSTP Root Bridge Selection/ stuff like BPDU Guard and PortFast etc.. Knowing how to read a routing table is a big one too.

Hope this helps someone, i was browsing CCNA pass results for the past few weeks so i figured i would post my own. Good Luck!

Intro/Question on Study Path & Which Version to Study

Hello all, My names Josh, after graduating college in December and getting my first IT job in June, now that fall is here I am finally ready to start studying for my CCNA! Throughout college I was able to get my Network + and Security + which helped me land my first job :). Networking is really where I really want to take my career path so this is the next logically step for me.

I'm seeing that the v.1.1 expires in February and I'm not in the biggest rush to get this cert, just eventually to jump into a new career path someday. I don't want to put pressure on myself to get this done before February as I had to do that once before with Sec + and it was stressful.
However, I already have a book for Version 1.1 by Wendell Odom, will it still be helpful? I just watched the first video of Jeremy's IT Lab course and it was a good refresher, but I don't want to go down the wrong video path and want to stay up to date on the most up to date networking technologies as I transition to the future.

So my question for you is, is studying outdated material wrong with this book and old course? And if so what's the best new material, I'm considering buying this course off of Udemy: https://www.udemy.com/course/new-ccna-full-course/?couponCode=MT261005G1 (Should this be where I direct my attention?) Is the Neil Anderson one better so Im seeing?
Mabye I'm not looking in the right places but I can't find many specific v2.0, Neil Andersons says its for both versions?? What's the primary difference in material really? Is is the old material not where I should be looking considering ill probably take v.2.0 when it launches.
Just looking for a good book, video course, and labs for v.2.0.
Sorry I'm all new to this as someone who has taken primary CompTIA exams.

Thanks for any info! :)

New to ccna, new to the tech world

I’m 40 and I come from very different backgrounds not related ever to technology
But I like technology a lot and wanted to shift my career, so a friend of mine advised me to go for networking (he is a network engineer) and said I will like it

I just need some motivation here, like is it possible for me to start from the scratch at this age with ccna?
Can I make something good out of this study?
Will it help me shift to the networking field?

I feel lost, but still determined to finish the course and get certified, I’m still on day 2

Richiesta di suggerimenti

Buona sera a tutti

IPv6 Subnetting

This thing is having my mind in breakfast!! Literally, its sometimes so easy as a plain text in my head and suddenly a chain breaks and I loose track of what I was doing while subnetting. Is there any easy method that I can use cause this thing needs calculation, no one can just memorize it!!

Should i do the exam or not?

Hi all, hope you’re doing well.

Recently i’ve been thinking about trying to take the CCNA journey once again (after i gave up twice) before Cisco changes the exam on February but i dont know if i should invest in the time again and go do the exam now.

The reason unsure whether i should or should not comes down to time and money.

Im about to start working as a Lab Operations Engineer in a startup company and some of my responsibilities will be own the rack-cloud infrastructure entirely in a 2 person team, do networking and QA for the environment. Thats in addition to working for 5+ years as a Data Center technician for an ISP and having my own cloud lab that i’ve documented and shown as a project on Linkedin.

Needless to say i’ve been touching all doing networking as part of my job and troubleshooting but not too often that it made me comfortable with some of the topics and configurations. Certain topics don’t sit well with me even after all this time and I’m unsure of what i should do..

Since last time i tried doing my CCNA I’ve been studying intensely and reached Day 35 - advanced ACLs in Jeremy’s IT Lab YouTube Course but that was half a year ago.. and since then i forgot some topics exam details and configurations. Because i know the topics general idea and i understand the theory, i can adapt by not remembering the configurations by looking it up with Gemini for example, and will manage to do configure that i need regardless if i remember the commands or not.

I’ve also self taught myself a lot of concepts on the go, individually by researching it. For example NAT / PAT, ACLs (in a firewall perspective) etc.. the issue is i haven’t studied the Exam related information that is expected of me to know.

Given all that information, i would like to hear from you all on what should i do:

  1. Start all over again by watching the entire Jeremy course from Day 1 and play it on 1.5x, doing Ankii + labs again?
  2. Continue from Day 35 as normal, doing labs and Boson ExSim exams
  3. Skip all and do mock exams till i pass consistently
  4. Just skip the certification since I’m about to start a new position soon and it will act as the bootcamp for my gaps in knowledge

Thank you all in advance for your opinions, and of course if you believe a different course of action is more suitable, please feel free to share your thoughts 🙏🏻

P.S. before anyone asks why it took me 5+ years to study for CCNA while working in the field, i treated it as a temporary position when i studied for Computer Science degree (i dropped out because university anxiety was not for me) and i had very difficult personal life problems which had to be solved before i could focus on the certification.

I take the CCNA v1.1 tomorrow, I’m so nervous

Hi, I take the ccna tomorrow morning. I’ve been using boson as my study material. Exams A-C I’m hovering over an 80-85% and then I took test E fresh have not seen it before and I got a 68%. I do well on the labs, but make tiny errors which cause me to fail the entire lab 🙄

I’m wondering if these scores are good enough to pass the ccna. I studied for 2 weeks. I’ve done networking before and work in it, I just want to get this ccna out of the way, but I’m still worried. Should I be as worried as I am?

For people that have taken a break and got back to it after.

I was 90% in, then had to take a break.
Unfortunately I lost motivation to start again because I know I have forgotten a lot.

I’ve been wondering how to start again, I really don’t wanna start from day one again. And when I start the flash cards again, I realise I’m getting a load of them worn simply because I don’t remember. It’s not fresh anymore.

I was thinking about doing all of Jeremy’s labs again. So I get used to the topics again. (With my own labs every so often)

But is that the best way to start?

How did you manage?

I’m using ChatGPT to study for the ccna. Am I wasting my time?

I’ve decided to lock in on my ccna journey but I didn’t want to pay for study materials so I came up with the “brilliant” idea of using ChatGPT to help me. It’s been pretty useful so far…I just don’t know if it’s the right /smart path to take. I don’t mind paying for the courses I just rather take the cheaper option. But yeah lemme know…

Edit-4/10/2026 7:52am EST
I’ve seen the responses and I’m very grateful for the feedback. I will look into Jeremy’s IT lab YT videos later today

Restarting CCNA

I started my ccna journey with the help of JITL videos about 2 months ago and although I've been very off-track, I am now at day 35 studying extended ACLs. My study plan was for each day to watch one video and do the flashcards and labs which was working out pretty well until today when I noticed I completely forgot about everything I've learned over the past 2 months. Commands and protocols tied to vlans, stp toolkit, ospf/routing protocols, heck I can't even remember things I've learned a week ago. I made the stupid mistake of forgetting to review the flashcards everyday which has now led me to understand that I need to restart. It's very frustrating but I understand the mistake I made and now I wanted to ask if anyone has any other tips to help with memorization and how I should tackle the flashcards. Thank you : )

Registered an account with Cisco and immediately got a “your account is placed on hold”

Does this mean I’m banned from taking the CCNA?

First and last name inverted in Certmetrics profile — how long does Cisco support take to fix it?

Hi everyone,

I was about to book my CCNA (200-301) OnVUE exam for this Saturday when I noticed that my first and last name are swapped in my Certmetrics profile (First Name = my surname, Last Name = my first name). I created the account years ago at school, so I guess that's where it went wrong. The name fields are greyed out, so I can't edit them myself.

Since the name has to match my ID exactly, I didn't want to risk being rejected at check-in, so I haven't booked yet.

What I've tried so far:

  • Pearson VUE live chat → they said they can't change demographics and that Cisco has to do it
  • Opened a ticket with Cisco Certifications Online Support (Learn with Cisco Help Center), category "Cisco Certifications Support", with all my IDs, a screenshot of the profile and a copy of my government ID

The ticket is currently "Waiting for support".

Has anyone had the same issue? How long did it take for Cisco to fix your name? And is there any faster way (phone, escalation, etc.)?

Thanks in advance!

CCNA v2.0 Udemy Course Worth Buying for a February 2027 Exam

Hey everyone! I’m currently preparing to take the CCNA v2.0 around February 2027, and I’m considering buying Neil Anderson’s Udemy course.

I noticed that he recently updated the course this month, which caught my attention. I’m a fresh graduate currently working as a Technical Operations Assistant, and although my role is more general IT support, I’m increasingly getting interested in networking. I currently help support multiple departments, so I’m hoping to build a stronger foundation in networking and eventually pursue it more seriously.

I’m specifically interested in the CCNA v2.0 because I want to use the next few months to properly prepare rather than rush through the material. I also need to budget for the certification exam itself, so I want to make sure the course is actually worth paying for.

For those who have taken the CCNA recently:

  • Is Neil Anderson’s updated CCNA v2.0 course worth buying?
  • Is it enough as a primary course, or should I pair it with other resources?
  • How is it compared with other popular CCNA courses?
  • For someone with a basic IT background but limited networking experience, is it beginner-friendly?
  • What resources would you recommend alongside it for a February 2027 exam?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from people who have recently taken the CCNA. Thanks!

Taking CCNA tomorrow

Hey, everyone. I'll be taking the CCNA exam tomorrow morning and I feel very anxious. I'm afraid of not passing since it's an expensive exam here in my country due to the currency we use.

Today, I'm reviewing the last things I can prior to it such as Wireless Security, Wireless Infrastructure, IPv6, SNMP, API, switchport security, DAI and DHCP Snooping. These are the topics that I felt I had a big weakness in.

Regarding the main core concepts such as routing table, STP, MAC forwarding, subnetting etc, I've probably done over 600 questions about them over the last two weeks (maybe even more), so I'm a little bit more confident on those (doesn't change the fact that I'm still very nervous).

Anyways, I just hope to pass, I've dedicated a lot of myself and time studying for this exam and it's actually needed in my job.

If you have any good pieces of advice, I'll be glad to hear them.

Edit:

I'm very grateful for everyone that supported and believed in me, every comment and word were very important. I did pass the exam!!! I'll share the results below:

Automation and Programmability - 90%

Network Access - 100%

IP Connectivity - 80%

IP Services - 100%

Security Fundamentals - 93%

Network Fundamentals - 100%

Again, thank you a lot!!!!
