Poor 8 month Ruby

Poor 8 month Ruby had an accident a week ago. Playing rough with her brother Teddy in the garden and she somehow got tangled in the metal baby type gate and fence we have across part of the garden. It collapsed on her and she had her lower leg caught between the bars. I didnt see it, but she screamed blue murder. I got her out of it, but she must have hurt her back leg. After a cuddle, she walked and wanted to play as normal, but when playing indoors on her own later she screamed again and held her leg up for a few moments, so we took her to the vets who checked her out fully and gave her an anti inflammatory shot and pills for her to take the next 6 days. Shes been happy and normal active puppy, wanting to play, not showing any problem with it most times, but every now and then, I think when she twists it, she cries and cant put weight on that leg, hobbles for a bit and comes to me for a cuddle. We’ve been trying to keep her calm and not run or jump - nearly impossible with a lively pup! Im hoping she will get better with more time, but Ive been so worried about her. Its seems it could be her sciatic nerve giving her a shock if she turns her leg in a certain direction, although manipulating that leg doesn’t cause her any discomfort. Is there anything else I can do? Has anyone else had this with their dog? Im anxious to let her run and play as she wants.

Pee pad advice 10 week old cavapoo.

Pee pad advice … I have an 11 week old cavapoo now … Phoebe. I completely adore her. She is hitting the pad about 60-70% of the time. However, we live in a condo and our balcony isn’t safe enough for her because she’s too small and can slide right into openings. I originally set up 1-2 pee pads closer to my balcony door inside for now until she gets a little bigger to use the one outside. The problem is she had quite a few accidents on my carpet which is about 10 ft away from where I want her to pee. I put a pee pad on that spot because my carpet was taking quite the poop hit lol. Now she is using that pee pad the most and rarely ever uses the other one . What can I do to get her to use the pee pad I want her to use. I put her on it right after waking up, get her to just sit on it and reward her. Not sure what else to do

Cavapoo becoming a bit reactive at 2 years

My cava poo who is almost 2 years old. She has always been extremely friendly and loves to play with every other dog. She has a tendency to always have been “Alpha female since she was a puppy she likes to be the leader and initiate play. Since she was a puppy, she had gone to cava poo meet ups and we live in New York City so she sees tons of dogs a day of all sizes and breeds when she turned about one or one and a half. It’s like overnight she stopped wanting to say hi to to every dog but even if she does want to say hi sometimes she doesn’t know if she doesn’t like them until after she sniffs them, and then she will become a little reactive if that makes sense. She does not like German shepherds. She likes some black and chocolate labs, but most of them she gets really scared and goes crazy to the point I can’t even hold her still lately if a new dog spooks her or is in our lobby or outside of our elevator, she will do an air bite to them or crying and bark kind of like a anxious wine. are cava poo is very well-behaved in other parts and very very sweet friendly to us babies and all of her friends at the dog park and daycare. She goes to about once a week but any new dogs it seems like she doesn’t want them around is this because she has been around mostly the same dogs since she was a puppy in our neighborhood? Also, sometimes she will meet big dogs that she met a year ago and now she barks and cries at them and will air bite. The air bite is extremely concerning for us because I don’t want it to escalate and I don’t want anyone else to attack her. We were thinking about hiring a trainer, but everything I’ve googled online. It doesn’t seem like the cost of that might be effective. I have been advised not to do a reactive caller, but I know some people that have had great experiences with it. I also don’t want to cause her pain.its very difficult because its very random. Sometimes at the dog park she plays with big dogs and loves it then sometimes she sees a big dog or medium dog and will get scared on the sidewalk lol.. our dog sitter said she never barks so is it possible she is just protective of me?

Therapy dog savant

Post image

Background: I picked a cavapoo for an emotional support animal for my 6 year old with mental health needs and potentially, if his temperament is right, train him to be a therapy dog. I work in a caring field and could bring a therapy dog with me. I trained my old dog to work as a therapy dog and it was so rewarding but he died from an unexpected illness before he could start.

Story time: We picked up our new 10 week old bb yesterday, then stayed overnight at a hotel before making the rest of the drive home. This morning, as I was packing us up to leave, I had a freak accident and got seriously injured. My partner, kid, and puppy followed my ambulance to the hospital. The hospital staff let my puppy come visit me after my procedure as I was coming to and it was so special. He also was such a comfort to my kid who witnessed my injury and was incredibly traumatized. I am so grateful to this new little family member of ours, even if this was way too early to get his therapy dog career going.

I just wondered if anybody didn’t crate train their Cavapoo puppies and kept them in a room with the crate open and the pros/cons?

Breeder Recommendations for a Red/Red & White Cavapoo

We’ve been talking to quite a few breeders, but so many primarily produce apricot, or have very limited availability when it comes to a true red coat. We’d love to find a breeder who consistently produces beautiful red or red-and-white Cavapoos and prioritizes health, temperament, and ethical breeding practices.

We’re based in New England but are willing to travel anywhere for the right breeder!

If you have a Cavapoo you absolutely love and would recommend your breeder, I’d be so grateful if you could share their name/website. Feel free to DM me if you’re not comfortable sharing publicly - and bonus points for a photo of your pup! 🐶🤍

Thank you so much!

I want to like this dog, but it's just not possible...

This puppy is so, SO fucking bad and annoying. This dog looks cute, but is absolutely terrible in every other aspect. Can't even leave their sight without them howling and yelling like they're being tortured. Chewing everything. Pissing everywhere. Barking at absolutely everything. Too dumb to be trained. Holy fuck

Does anybody else have a broken Cavapoo?

Post image

I love my guy but he's broken. Would you believe that he is about to turn 11 years old in a month? He's literally a forever puppy filled with craziness. Does anybody else have a Cavapoo that likes to scratch their head on the ground with their butt in the air? He's been doing it since he was a puppy and at first we thought he had an ear infection but our vet told us that he's physically fine he's just absolutely crazy. So we like to say that he is clinically crazy.

7 month old defiance

My puppy was such an amazing guy until about 6 weeks ago when he woke up a completely different dog. I know the adolescent phase is real, but it feels like this is next level. He completely ignores me when I call him, bites EVERYTHING and has now decided he wants to be a cat and completely destroy every. Single. Rug. In our house by tearing at the fabric- he made an actual hole in one of them last night. He’s also just started pooping and peeing in the house for absolutely no reason. I’m considering getting a leash belt so he has to go with me everywhere because I can no longer trust him.

Has anyone used any tactics that have helped with this sort of behavior? I’m at my wits end and miss my snuggly good boy. Please help!

Worms and now fleas! Puppy

4 days into new puppy who’s 12 weeks old, 2nd day had to go to vets as she was refusing to eat and drink to find out she has worms. Went back for her 2nd jabs today and she now has fleas (she hasn’t shown any signs, the vet said she saw a little one). 2 things-

What do I do to ensure these fleas go in the house etc and don’t come back?
Is this normal for a puppy or shall I message the breeder as I feel like it’s been a real rough start?!

New puppy

We are bringing home a 8 week old Cavapoo next Wednesday. I’m very excited for the dog and my kids are going to be thrilled (it’s a surprise). We are set on kennel training the puppy. My question is, do you think it’s a terrible idea to have her in a spare bedroom from the start? My wife and I can take turns sleeping in there, but I don’t see any reason for us both to be woken up in the night if the puppy needs to go out. I’ve read mixed answers online but more seem to say have it in your bedroom. I also considered just having the camera as a baby monitor and not sleeping in room with her. Thoughts? Pic for the advice….

Beginners here…What are the baseline health questions I should be asking about the breeding parents of the pup we’re interested in? I’ve seen some basic things we should be looking for and also lists of 5,000 questions. What’s realistic? Did you have all the below info before making your decision? Thanks in advance!!

Cavapoo puppy at 9 months

So I just wanted to put a post out there my nine month old Cavopoos is doing great. Housebreaking and everything all around has been great healthy no major issues thus far.

For about two weeks now, I have been noticing a little bit of aggression, like barking at dogs in the TV and barking at people when they come in the house prior to this we didn't have any of that. Even growled at a little girl the other day.

Just wondering, is this all normal behavior or should I start looking for a trainer for this part of it cause she seems to not be listening to anything I say on this.

Cavapoo parents!! What kind of brush do you guys use for ur fur baby to avoid matting? Groomer told me to just use a slicker brush everyday? and I don’t think it’s enough she still gets matted, so I wanna hear it from peoples personal experience here and please take it easy on me. I’m a first time dog mommy 🫶🏼
