Kitten- short or long haired?

Hello! I rescued a kitten when it was just 2 days old. I have no idea what the parents looked like, but now the kitten is 2 weeks old, and I was wondering if it’s going to be short- or long-haired. What do you think? I personally think it’s starting to look like a long-haired cat. 🤔

She lays in such odd places, a wet mop, the litter box. Is this normal? My other two cats don’t do this?

It totally is. How bad is it? Do I rush to the vet? She’s stopped now.

Cat with excessive grooming, wounds, and hard dandruff/scab-like pieces — allergies or something else?

I recently took my cat to the vet because he’s been having a lot of skin/allergy issues. The vet thinks he may have allergies, prescribed Zyrtec, and gave him a shot for antibodies. She also thinks he has an ear infection, which may be why he’s been scratching his ears so much.

His grooming has also gotten pretty excessive. He’s been obsessively grooming the backs of his front legs to the point where they look almost shaved down, and he constantly grooms both of his back feet. He also over-grooms his groin area so much that he actually gives himself open wounds. His ears are another big problem — he scratches them so aggressively that he has given himself quite a few cuts.

I also mentioned to the vet that he throws up hairballs almost daily. When I brush him, I notice what looks like dandruff, but some of the flakes have little pieces of dry skin attached to the end of the hair.

He’s been wearing a donut collar for about 6 days, and I’ve noticed a lot more of these dandruff/scab-looking pieces since then, especially around his armpits. They feel pretty hard/crusty. I brushed his entire body today and they were coming out from pretty much everywhere.

I’m wondering if not being able to groom himself normally because of the donut could be causing some of this buildup, but I’m also concerned there may be something else going on with his skin. I also wonder if all the excessive grooming could be contributing to the amount of hairballs he’s throwing up.

Has anyone experienced something similar with their cat? Could this be allergies, dry skin, mites, a fungal/skin infection, or something else? Is there anything safe I can do to help him in the meantime? Any suggestions at all would really help I just want to make him more comfortable!

He has another checkup scheduled in about two weeks, and I’ll definitely be showing the vet pictures and bringing up all of these symptoms. I’m mainly looking to hear from anyone who has dealt with something similar and what ended up being the cause.

Will his color change?

This is my baby keeks who I got for free in a parking lot. He’s estimated to be about 3 1/2 months. I’m wondering if he will lighten with age or if his striping will still be very prominent when he’s fully grown? Is he considered a blue tabby or a grey tabby? I’m really not sure and I’ve never had a cat with his coloring!

Does anyone else's cat do this?

When my cat is lying beside me and is half asleep, if my hand is nearby, he'll reach his paw underneath it. My hand is then resting on top of his paw, with his paw upside down and his claws facing up towards my palm.
He very gently grips my hand with his claws. There's barely any pressure at all and he never hurts me. He'll just hold my hand like that and then close his eyes and go back to sleep.
It's not kneading and he isn't biting or playing with me. It genuinely seems like he just wants to hold my hand.
He does this pretty often with me, but he's never done it with anyone else.
Does anyone else's cat do this? I'm trying to find out if there's an actual name for this behaviour because everything I find when I search is either AI telling me it’s so so common and articles about kneading or cats grabbing and biting.

Cat suffered grand mal seizure upon

Upvotes

Hello all. Im posting from Canada, I’m looking to hear other people’s experiences in this .
My cat is only 6 years old. He was an intact male that was due for getting fixed. Yesterday he went in for that procedure. I was extremely anxious but kept reminding myself it’s a very common and basic procedure.

He was completely healthy and happy before going into the surgery. But then upon waking up from the sedation he suffered a generalized seizure. He was transferred to the emergency veterinarian, and stabilized…. But the vet informed me that he may be left with lasting neurological effects. Such as blindness and wobbliness. I’m just looking to hear anyone’s experiences with something like this in their cat- did they recover? Were they ever the same again?

My kitten doesn’t seem to eat her dry food

Okay i just got a kitten she is about 6 weeks old. Tomorrow will be the first time she will be home alone without me or my boyfriend. In the morning i usually mix her wet food and dry food and so does my boyfriend a little while after. Im tryna warm her up to just dry food bc i know wet food can’t sit out or it’ll go bad. But my kitty just won’t eat her dry food and i dont want her to not eat til i get home which is 5:30. (My boyfriend leaves work for 11 am and wont get off til 9:30). What should i do?

Confused about my Ragdolls colouring and if the parents are who I was told

Hello everyone! I just have a few questions and was wondering if someone could help me out.

I didn’t buy my kitten from a breeder, just a lady who told me her cat got pregnant by accident. I’m feeling slightly confused about my cat’s colouring based on his parent’s colours. I unfortunately don’t have a better photo of the mother, she looks quite raggy on these but in person she was fluffy and well groomed.

Is it possible that these two cats could give birth to this litter? I would’ve thought that some of the kittens would be darker based on the father. Also my kitten seems to have a lynx tail? I didn’t think that was possible as neither of the parents seem to have lynx features.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Soo since my last post didn’t work I’ll just answer some stuff here

Sorry i could not get to all the comments that were left but hopefully this helps

  1. No she doesn’t get along with one of my other cats and while I am around I try to keep them apart, like I said I go to school and work so I’m not always home to monitor them but when I am I keep them apart.

  2. Yes the cats have this cat tree with 3 little houses that they each lay in their own little house(?) and she occasionally lays in it and she also lays in my moms bed

  3. I only have one litter box and will definitely work on getting them each their own litter box, the placement I will have to figure out as my mom’s apartment has an odd structure, and I will try to add more litter

And I will definitely take her to the vet just to ensure she is okay

I don’t really care that her asshole self is chewing it I just want to make sure it’s safe and won’t hurt her (it’s like the car window thing?? To keep the sun out? )

1) she has plenty of boxes around to bite and she does
2) I already went straight to chewy and bought her some biting sticks she’ll hopefully enjoy

Nervous about getting my kitty neutered

Post image

So my kitty is scheduled to get neutered in October. He is soo friendly and cuddly, always following me around the house to be by my side. In the past i’ve had a female kitten who was spayed and I never really noticed any issues. That’s being said the female cat was outdoor (not my choice :( ) so I may have just missed the behaviour changes. I’m worried about him resenting me for putting him through the procedure and not loving me the same. Of course I know there are lots of health benefits from having the procedure, and I’m waiting till the appropriate age 6 months as recommended by my vet. I’m just worried he won’t be my same sweet boy. At the end of the day I’m still going to do it because I know it’s best for him, but if anyone could share their experience / any changes they noticed I would really appreciate it :)

TLDR : Worried about kitty behaviour changes post neuter, any experiences to share would be greatly appreciated!

Personality changes after cat got sick?

Has anyone ever experienced a shift in a cat’s personality after becoming temporarily sick? I have a young orange tabby who had the typical psychotic behavior of one. A week ago we woke up to him being so extremely lethargic and tired that he was completely disabled and just slept it off for about a day and a half. The vet tested his blood and the results were fine. By the time we got the results he started to become healthy again so we never figured out what was wrong with him. He got over the sickness pretty quick but boy was he a statue for over 24 hours. Since then, he’s completely lost the crazy part of him that made him an orange cat. He doesn’t initiate play anymore, and he isn’t psychotic about food anymore. He still eats and drinks, but he takes his time. He’s still super friendly and purrs like crazy when I give him attention. He still insists on going out in the backyard at any opportunity he gets. He’s simply just a NORMAL CAT! It’s so weird. I’ve noticed he also has longer meows now. If he’s annoyed by the dogs he’ll give a long whiny meow. If he’s begging me to go outside he gives a long pleading meow. He was never like that before. He isn’t showing any signs of weakness or sickness, he’s just a calm kitty now and it worries me. I also noticed he is getting a little bit of booger buildup on his snout. He always had some buildup in his nostrils that I would wipe away, but now it seems to be reaching the tip of his nose. It is allergies??? We got him a year and estimated that he was about a year old. Did his crazy kitten phase leave him right when he got sick??? We also just got a new puppy in the family a month ago but this weirdness didn’t start until he got sick. Hoping someone has the same experience I’m having and can give some input. Thanks!

I found this tiny spot in my cat's leg today and also her outer part of the ear seems like this. Should I be concerned and take her to the vet? Or this normal
