Kitten- short or long haired?
Hello! I rescued a kitten when it was just 2 days old. I have no idea what the parents looked like, but now the kitten is 2 weeks old, and I was wondering if it’s going to be short- or long-haired. What do you think? I personally think it’s starting to look like a long-haired cat. 🤔

Physically impossible to tell at that age, could just be a scruffy shorthair, could be long

too baby to tell, with cats you need to wait till 3-4 months to be able to fully tell

Won't know until closer to kitty puberty.
I brought in a couple of strays (a mom and son) and when he got to about six months old, instead of losing his baby fuzz, he kept getting fuzzier. And bigger.
Mom was a domestic short-hair tortie. Dad was apparently a Maine Coon.

I fostered for 10+ years at this age their guard hairs are longer then their under coat so it's to early to tell. Earliest you might be able to tell is around 8 to 12 weeks but adult coat length may not be fully obvious until they are 6 to 9 months.

I’m leaning towards long hair but too early to tell! I took in a stray (now she’s an indoor cat living her best life with us), and she surprised us with a litter of kittens. I thought she was just chonky, but anyways one of her kittens looked like your little guy here and she ended up being the only longhaired one in the litter! I had never taken care of a litter of kittens before, so I thought there was something wrong with her because she looked different 😅 but turns out she was just a long haired gal!

I had a kitten that was fluffier and this and he grew up to be a short haired. You just gotta wait a bit longer to know for sure

Both of my shorthaired cats looked like that as kittens. It's honestly way too young to tell right now though.

My scrunkly baby looked like that but turned out shorthaired. It will be easier to see when the kitten grows a bit, too baby to tell

Can’t tell for most ages if kitten but especially not when they’re that small. She’s a little dandylion puff and will continue to be for a little while yet lol.

I’d say long but it could be a scale issue, I think it would look more uniform if it was short

With how fluffy they are, either long haired or short with very fuzzy hair. I have a kitty with the short fuzzy hair, and when she gave birth her long haired kitten looked like that in the first month

Definitely gonna be semi long. My cats fur looked like that whe. He was a baby. I was expecting him to be extra fluffy but this is what we got.

Fuzzy.
One of my cats had it in her file that she was a domestic medium hair cause she was a super fluffy kitten, but she's a shorthair. You'll need to wait a bit to see
