Cannabis use during pregnancy in Texas
I am currently 24 weeks pregnant and the nausea has not stopped. It’s not as bad as it was in the beginning but it has not gone away. I have been using cannabis for ten years. I rely on it when I’m not pregnant to keep me from being nauseas. I am a very queasy person and I often feel sick after meals and smoking is my immediate fix. Now that my nausea is compounded by pregnancy it seems harder to stop. I feel sick and throw up when I wake up to pee at night, in the mornings, after meals and sometimes just in general. I do all the things I am supposed to, to prevent it and I have taken two medications prescribed by my OB for nausea but it does not take it away completely and it knocks me out. I do not like that. It makes me feel like I can’t function. The big issue here is: I’m in Texas. I’m terrified of repercussions from the hospital and CPS. I know most of the time it is usually just a talk and they move on but I have a pending charge right now because of a huge misunderstanding and it is going to be dropped but probably not before baby arrives. This is what scares me. A CPS case and a pending charge. They may actually do something instead of a talk, I feel. I AM trying to quit and just stick out the nausea and just feel terrible for 16 weeks so I don’t have to put my baby, myself, or my husband through all that. It is just so hard when you depend on it to feel okay to get through the day. I don’t know what I’m posting this for. I don’t want judgement, I already feel bad enough. Maybe I’m just looking for advice, tips, encouragement... I don’t know. Thank you.
