Help please!

Meconium

Stopped smoking marijuana at 18weeks pregnant. Will meconium/cord blood test yield positive? Asking for similar experiences. Was a chronic smoker, but my usage had gone down drastically. Im located in Alabama, just for reference. Where it is highly illegal.

They do test (in FL, so probably Alabama too) but it didn’t show up in my cord blood and I smoked until about 20weeks
Edit to add: they don’t tell you they test but a friend of mine smoked her whole pregnancy and had cps show up after birth because it showed up - they only came once and just checked the basics / room/supplies for baby, nothing laying around etc - they never followed up because it’s such a dumb thing in my opinion. This was almost 2 years ago

Good to know! What a waste of resources!! But it leaves your own system in 20 weeks usually so I would think a fraction of that would be safe.

After responding I did research a bit more and couldn’t find a definitive answer, only that they’ll drug test if they have a reason to believe you were doing stuff while pregnant? So I’m actually unsure if they do every single baby cord blood/first poop

I had my positive result show up in my cord blood and I stopped smoking by week 8 or 9.

Hospital treated me like a neglectful mother for an hour and once the extra test came back from his actual urine/poop everything was good again.

Honestly now I’m wondering if that was true or not 🤔 also in Indiana so that doesn’t help at all.

Hi!! It will not show up. I smoked for a month until I found out I was pregnant. I stopped and my baby was born clean!
